Who: Sanura and Warren
When: Late Afternoon
Where: Marketplace
What: A bump in leads to a future date
Being on the clumsy side was one thing, but being clumsy and having a severe cold was a disastrous thing not meant for the Sweets Shop. On the plus side, there weren’t that many customers this day. On the downside, Sanura had nearly knocked down everything in sight. It was highly amusing to watch her try and pick things up with her sleeves instead of her hands. She wouldn’t want to be the culprit in getting everyone who came into the shop sick.
The therianthrope didn’t want to stay home though resting seemed to be the obvious wise choice. She (for some stupid reason) believed that resting only made her give into the cold and she would get worse. She just drank a ridiculous amount of tea and honey and trekked in the cold in a scarf and three layers of clothes. She figured the faster she walked, the warmer she would be.
But finally when late afternoon arrived, Sanura gave into her fatigue and her sneezes that were so strong she nearly jumped five feet into the air. When she snuck a glimpse into a mirror, she saw that she looked like Rudolph the red nose reindeer’s close relative and her whole appearance looked as if she hadn’t showered in a week’s time. “If I got this from Adio, he’s dead.” She declared with a sigh, her voice sounding as if she was wearing a nose plug.
All Sanura had for safe navigation was the following of people’s feet to make sure she didn’t bump into anyone. She was having high hopes that her tactic wouldn’t fail. But it did.
When Sanura bumped into someone, she figured she could face them and apologize to them and then return on her way. But when she turned to continue walking she realized her legs were tangled in something. Great. A leash. It was one thing to bump into someone, but tangling with their dogs leash was probably the most embarrassing thing besides being caught in your underwear. As if her day couldn’t get any worse.
When the stranger had caught her though, she was starting to think her day was starting to get a little bit better. It wasn’t just about a good looking guy catching her by her arm and saving her from a sore ass. There was something sweet about him that made her smile like her head was in the clouds. Sanura was sure she looked a little stupid and a little unsure of what to say. But after a moment she found the correct words. “..thank you.” Things were looking okay..until she sneezed on him.
Warren shut his eyes for a moment when he received a greeting in the form of a sneeze. A moment later he smiled at the stranger, not at all angry about it. He was somewhat proud of himself for actually catching someone before they hit the ground since he knew his response to events was as slow as someone five times his age. Strangely it was like he saw it coming. Perhaps it was because Morpheus had a fifty-fifty chance of causing some sort of destruction either to Warren or to someone else so his senses had to be alert. He didn’t even know what possessed him to bring Morpheus to the Marketplace in the first place.
The healer never got a chance to either let go or fully look at the person he had so called ‘saved’ if he could glorify it. When he did a flush came to his cheeks and he almost dropped her before he escorted her to her feet. His hands tucked inside his pockets and he muttered out a “you’re welcome.“ followed but a stuttering “uh-uh,” It was some what of an idiotic way to search for a name.
“Sanura.” The Therianthrope sputtered out hastily. “I’m sorry for sneezing on you. You see I have been feeling ill and I have been sneezing everywhere at least every two minutes. It’s not your dog or anything. Believe me I think your dog is absolutely beautiful. I’m sorry I didn’t even see your dog. I’m so clumsy, especially today. I think there could be a tornado in front of me and I would walk right into it.” She suddenly stopped, putting her palm against her forehead. “I’m sorry. I don’t think I even know what the hell I am talking about. It’s this damn cold.” She gave him an apologetic look, biting her lip with a laugh.
“What is your name?” She asked delicately, trying to not seem embarrassed about her nose and her appearance. Count on meeting a good-looking British guy on the day you look your worst.
“It’s a-“ he seemed to have forgotten for a moment. “Warren.” He said it slowly like he was recovering from amnesia. It seemed like they both were having some communication problems. Warren didn’t get that it was a positive thing. It wasn’t her trying to get away from him. It was quite the opposite. It was a little odd having the two of them standing there nervously in the middle of the Marketplace while people shuffled not only in front and behind of them, but also between them.
Sanura rocked her heels back and forth for a moment, pretty much suffocating in the silence before she scratched the back of the head and finally broke the awkwardness. “Listen. I have to go before I do something completely unattractive like sneeze and blow snot all over your shirt.” She cleared her throat which was now quite painful. “But thank you once again.” Her cheeks seemed to give off a natural blush and Sanura knew she had better leave now before she spat out ridiculous questions. Are you single would have been one of them.
Thinking she ended their acquaintance she turned to leave. But her mouth seemed to move without her permission. “Walk home with me?” Now that it would have seemed rather foolish to take back her words, she turned back towards Warren with a friendly smile. “I’m not sure if you live near the Town Cottages. But if you do and you’re on your way home, would you like to join me?”
Warren was about to turn around himself, a breath of relief leaving his mouth since he felt like a tosser for not saying anything else. She looked like she could use some rest, but maybe he should have offered her help towards her house? He could have at least asked where she lived or if she worked anyplace in town since she looked so familiar. But instead he was going to somewhat forget what happened and continue on with his dog.
But when Sanura asked if Warren would like to join her on her journey home, Warren probably looked like a deer in headlights before he managed a stupid “ye-yeah sure.” He was glad to know she lived in the Town Cottages. “We actually live in the same area. So, it wouldn’t be an inconvenience or anything.” The healer assured.
He let her go before him and walked beside her silently, watching the colored leaves on the ground to distract him. Once again he knew he was short of words and could be doing better in the communication department, but he managed to smile in her direction before he finally asked. “Are you going to the festival on Halloween?” He wasn’t sure if everyone was still into going out in a costume and partying. She looked about his age, perhaps a bit younger so if he was still into it, maybe she was.
Sanura caught a few of Warren’s smiles so she couldn’t help but to smile in return. Then he asked the question about the All Hollow’s Eve festival. “Yes!” She said a bit over excitedly. “Uhm. Well, I hope to. I feel like a dying cow, but I plan to go no matter what. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Holloween is my favorite Holiday!”
There was something they certainly had in common. “Yeah, mine too. I have no idea what the hell I am going to dress up as. But I sure will be there.”
Both of them stopped in the exact same location of the road, only to find out they were across the so-called street from each other. “Small world, huh?” Sanura said shyly. “Well, if you are going to be there, then perhaps we should meet again. My birthday is also the third of November so I plan to have a party and you are certainty invited. You saved me from yet another injury due to clumsiness.” She bit her lip and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
Warren chuckled and looked towards his house. “Yeah, small world.” He repeated. Taking a brave leap he just somewhat suddenly asked. “How about the first?” He felt like his stomach leaped out of his body. “The first of November. Are..are you doing something? I work at the Tailors. The restaurant isn’t all too far away. Would you like to meet up there? I mean. There are a lot of people I don’t get to meet in town and when working in the Tailors I think I’m actually less fun to socialize then perhaps in a place..you know..uhm..meant for socializing? I know there is a sixty-forty chance we might be hung over..but even still. I mean it would be at night. I could always meet you there. Say about eight?”
How the hell did he do that? Ah, because he said it all in one giant breath.
Sanura was jumping like a school girl in her mind, but on the outside she was as calm as could be. “I would like that.” A grin approached. “Eight is perfect.” She started walking backwards before she turned away from him with a wide smirk. “It was nice meeting you. I can not say thank you enough.”
She looked back one last time to watch him enter his house before she entered her own. Sanura would have had her moment of ‘freaking out’. Luckily, she was too tired to lose her maturity level.
