Sunday: October 28, 2007
Who: Midori Kamiyama and Giles Audley
When: Evening
Where: The Restaurant, Helicharis
What: The Date of the Randy Doctor and the Ice Queen of Hokkaido.

Midori self-consciously tugged on the hem of her skirt. She was feeling more than a little exposed. She was dressed in a short red silk dress. It had a vaguely kimono-like style, which Mitsuko said would make her feel more comfortable. But with the plunging neckline and short hemline, Midori didn't know if she had ever been more uncomfortable. With the knee-high boot Mitsuko had lent her, Midori felt like an utter tramp. No doubt Giles would be terribly pleased with the attire.

She wanted that damn man to get there. While she wasn't particularly looking forwards to his lewd comments, she felt like an idiot just standing around waiting for him to arrive. The sooner he got there, the sooner they could get this ridiculous sham of a date over with.

Despite her ill feelings, Midori felt her heart speed up a tad. There was something exciting about having a man who wanted to do nothing but lavish attention on her. She had never taken the time to enjoy such things before. Perhaps it was time.

Giles didn’t know what to expect of his date at the restaurant. He was hoping Midori wouldn’t just stick to a boring black dress because then he would be thinking that her underwear was just as boring underneath. That was the agony of this date. Giles would have to keep all of his vulgar thoughts to himself. Maybe false charm could earn him a one way ticket up that dress of hers. The women who always played hard to get were always the women who were the most attractive, most mischievous and were most certainly worth the chase.

When Giles arrived at the restaurant he saw the appearance of a woman he hardly knew. Was that actually Midori? His mouth probably hung open for a good few moments before he made confident strides over towards her. “God god you do have a set of hot legs. I was beginning to think you just were a waist and an ass and the rest of you was a ghost since you covered yourself up so much.” He squinted and cursed mentally. “Could that be a freebie? The whole mentally not being absurd towards you is a little hard. Let me try that again.” He took a deep breath. “You look wonderful.” Obviously in truthful terms he would do her before they even got their dinner.

Giles was glad he ditched the blue idea and just settled for going white. That way he fit with Midori better. “Now, shall we?” He wondered what kind of a ‘food lady’ Midori was. Giles was indeed kind enough to pull the seat out for Midori and awaited for her to sit. Plus, it was a good way to check out her ass in the dress. Win, win.

After he seated her, he sat across from her with a pleasant smile on his face. “Wine Ms. Kamiyama?” It took him awhile to remember and recall how to pronounce her name, but in time he got it right.

Midori was not wearing boring underwear under her red dress. In fact, she wasn't wearing any underwear. It was not to be titillating. She didn't even own any underwear.

She was staring to get very impatient waiting for Giles to arrive. Kamiyama Midori did not wait. She was waited on. How dare that infuriating man leave her alone. Yet, she remained. She didn't know why she was drawn to Giles. It wasn't something as simple as base attraction. She rather enjoyed the way he made her blood boil. He was one of the few people who managed to ruffle her. As crazy as it made her, it was... Exhilarating.

She smiled tightly when Giles finally arrived and made his tasteless comment. She wasn't even sure it made any sense. "I will focus on the compliment," Midori said after a moment. She then paused again. "Thank you. You..." She looked him over. "Mildly presentable."

Midori managed an honest smile when Giles pulled out the chair for her. It was a gentlemanly gesture, something she wasn't used to. Her dealings with men mostly involved power brokering and civility was strained and forced in those situations. She sat down at the table.

She gave a brief nod at the offer of wine. "Yes... Please." She wrinkled her nose, a little uncomfortable with the situation. "You may call me Midori. We are engaged in a social engagement. It is customary to refer to a date by first name in England, isn't it?"

If the Brit knew Midori was not wearing underwear, he would be pretending to drop things every other minute. He was getting old, things like that could happen all the time. But damn it all for him not being a telepath.

It took Giles a moment to think about something nice to say towards the very attractive woman after he poured her some wine delivered to the two rather quickly. Many must have suspected they were on a pleasant date not at all a result from an agreement. Who would have thought otherwise? The two looked rather civil, rather natural. At least in Giles’ opinion. For some reason he was enjoying it. He liked the feeling of throwing Midori off by showing that he could have faux charm while still being a completely different person.

“So tell me Midori.” Giles began, taking a sip from his wine. He looked towards her in a different fashion. His eyes did not show perversion, but they showed genuine curiosity. “I am curious to know how a woman like you got here. Did you get escorted here? I mean a woman like you seems like she could have arrived here on a carriage.”

It was the truth. Giles viewed her as a woman that could have once been a damn queen. She must have at least been waited on. She was hardly at the low end of the food chain. “I doubt you fox trotted all the way here.”

Giles would only discover her lack of underwear if Midori deemed him worthy. She had high exacting standards. She had only ever mated once and that was for the purpose of producing Mitsuko. In truth, she was nervous about the idea of mating for pleasure... In her human form. It caused flutters in her stomach.

Midori may have initially agreed to the date to get Giles to leave her alone, but in truth, she was lonely. She had no friends. After her talk with Mitsuko, she was certain she had officially lost her daughter. She had no one. Except for a hormonal, rude doctor. He wanted to be around her. As much as she was disgusted by him at times, she enjoyed the company.

Midori brushed her hair off her shoulder and took a drink. "I was an escort," Midori said firmly. "I was acquainted with Theora prior to the disaster. She told me of the virus. I then brought my daughter to Elysium. I took the responsibility to escort others." She closed her eyes and sighed. Her escorting of others had cost her the Tenko clan.

Midori raised her glass and drained it in one gulp. "I am a woman of breeding and class... But part of that breeding was to work as hard as I can to protect those weaker than I am. By any means necessary. Including getting my hands dirty."

Giles was intrigued and impressed even by how well Midori downed the glass of wine. Most women seemed to be the sipping kind, but like her words she got straight to the point. He stealthy filled her glass again and made it look like it was a courteous thing to do, not a curious and perhaps devious thing.

“Ahh, so you were a bit more interesting then I pegged you to be.” He knew Theora. He tried to get in her pants, but failed. She didn’t seem to know much about sex. Midori however seemed to act like it was a duty. “Dare I say it seemed rather kind of you to escort others? I say kind because I get the vibe you didn’t want to but felt obligated to do so.”

Women never declared themselves as strong. Not to Giles anyway. They said so in songs or tried to state it through eye contact so it was refreshing to hear Midori state so with great confidence. Yet, he couldn’t help but to let something slip. “You have the class thing going on, but who says you can’t just have sex for sex and still maintain class? Breeding seems awfully boring. I respect the protecting the weaker. Sounds awfully cat woman to me..and I love cat woman.” Tight outfit? Why the hell not love a kick ass woman in hot clothes? “But you should let loose a little. No ones going to attack you.”

The Brit waggled his brows a little. “Not even me. I know my boundaries.”

Midori wasn't trying to impress Giles. She was rather trying to dull the pain and guilt of losing her clan with alcohol. She had sworn to protect them and had failed. She had been too late, hadn't gotten to them in time. She had no idea if any of them survived, but she greatly doubted it. She paid no attention to Giles refilling her glass, but she kept a tight hold on it.

Arching a brow, Midori looked over Giles suspiciously. His comment was odd. He didn't think she was interesting? That seemed like an odd thing to say to a woman he was trying to bed. "I am a leader," Midori said firmly. "My life is obligation. I do not do things on whim or by my wish. I work for the greater good of my people."

Midori cocked her head slightly at Giles' next statement. She didn't really know what being a leader had to do with sex. She had not mentioned anything about sex. "From my perspective, sex is used for two reasons: To reinforce romantic feelings or to produce an heir. I already have an heir. And romantic feelings, attachment of any kind, leads to weakness and dependance."

Letting out a soft chuckle, Midori eyed Giles. "Like you would be capable of attacking me."

Giles let out a strong laugh when it came to attacking Midori. “Sweetie.” Yes, he had to resort to words like that because he wasn’t allowed to be inappropriate. “I could take you on.” He took a sip from his wine and then set it to a safe place. “You want to know why?” Of course he was going to tell her why.

“It’s because you attack with too much anger. Everything you do is offensive instead of defensive. I don’t know what crap you went through before you were here, but everything you do has a lot of fire attached to it. All someone has to do is knock you off your feet and put water on that fire of yours.” He stated in a matter of fact tone. “A tempter is a horrible thing to have at times.”

It’s what Giles saw in her. He sensed such angry emotions within her. Of course, this was when he was arond her and he wasn’t the most pleasant of people. But for all he knew Midori was fiery when it came to attacking as well. “But for all I know you have much better tactics when it comes to battle besides being a spitfire”

Midori blinked in shock at Giles laughter. "You think you could take me down... Really? I've studied Aikido for a hundred and twenty years. I hardly think a kid like you would be able to defeat me." She leaned over. "You have never seen me in a battle. You have no idea what you would be dealing with." She leaned forward. "And I am not your sweetie."

She listened to Giles' words about her attack style. She narrowed her gaze on him. "You're a doctor. Did you know Doctor Pryce?" She took a long drink of her wine. "He said similar things to me when we fought. Perhaps you two laughed about me." She frowned deeply. "I enjoyed his company, despite his infuriating attitude." She glanced at Giles. "You remind me of him." She knew what she was alluding to, that she actually liked being around Giles. She thought it might be good to throw him off guard.

Giles chuckled to himself and after he had a nice big gulp from his wine glass he set his wine aside and calmly stated. “You could be.” He then made a light comical hand gesture. “You know the whole sweetie thing. But then I would be the one wearing the skirt, not the pants. And though my legs are quite nice, I have very funny looking knee caps.” He was kidding of course and he was sure Midori would turn him down. It was fun to joke with her though, see how he could make her angry without saying anything perverse. But at the same time a man was coming on to her without using a sexual tone. “As far as the battle thing goes. What? Can you swordfight? Kill three men at once?” Her death glare alone made his heart feel a little threatened. That could probably be a distraction.

The empath thought about Pryce and he actually did feel bad about his ill fate. “We actually never spoke of you in an ill matter. No one would insult a fiery woman who is also attractive. That doesn’t come along often. Neither do men like Pryce. Now I work with a bunch of nice guys taking their job seriously.” Of course that was what he was supposed to be doing.

He was indeed thrown off guard when she told him he was like Pryce. “Does that mean I am going to die of a heart attack soon?”

Midori yawned and rolled her eyes at Giles words. She wasn't really certain what he was trying to say. She was good at English, but the way Giles put his words together just didn't make any sense. She was starting to wonder if his brain was actually connected to his mouth. "I am quite capable of swordfighting," Midori said coolly. "As for killing..." There was a dark glint in her eyes. She arched a brow. "I've never killed anyone. At least, not that can be proven." Midori actually had never taken a life personally, but she wasn't going to let Giles know that.

A frown on her face, Midori's thoughts were on Pryce. "He treated me with respect. Even as he challenged me. It is ironic... He survived he virus and the war, only to be taken down by... His own body."

Looking up to the server who had now arrived, Midori was grateful for a distraction from the current conversation. "It is normal protocol to order food when one comes to a restaurant, isn't it?" She asked Giles.

Giles rolled his eyes after she had spoke so seriously to him. “You know, you change the subject really fast when you are actually letting someone, probably particularly me get to know you. It’s a shame. I bet it is an attractive quality. It proves that you aren't as mean as you seem.” He made a face towards her before he motioned for a waitor to come his way.

“So, your majesty. What would you like to eat? Believe it or not they have quite the selection. I have no idea what you fox shifters like to eat.” He was gentleman enough to let a lady order first.

"No one knows me," Midori admitted. "I don't let people close. Closeness leads to weakness. Besides, most of the people have known have not been interested in my personality... Only what I can do for them." She leaned in towards Giles. "And from the lewd comments you have made towards me, you seem very interested in what I can do for you." She paused for a moment. "Or to you."

Midori didn't even look at her menu. She looked up at the waiter. "I would like steak tartar... Hold the egg, capers, onion, bread and seasoning."

The waiter frowned in confusion. "Miss... That's just... A plate of raw meat."

Midori's expression was neutral. "What's your point?" She handed the menu back to him. "Thank you."

She turned back to Giles. "Fox shifters are not overly fond of ovens."

Well if he didn’t know any better, she was asking for him to break and make a lewd comment on a night where he promised he wasn’t going to. It was like a fat kid looking at a candy jar that was just out of reach. Well shit, looks like he just reached it. “Well even from a mile away I can see your milestone funbags and your ass could be an eight wonder in that dress. How can I not make lewd comments or think about banging you?” He took a light sip from his wine as to mock his statement like it was something proper.

His lips rose in disgust as to what she ordered and he slid his menu to the waitress. “I’m not hungry anymore. Seems like my dates personality is just like her food though, thank you for giving me some insight.” He shooed the waitress away, still with a look of disgust. “Can’t you put better things in your mouth than something that looks like it either came up from someone’s mouth or from another end?”

He tapped on the table and sighed. “You know, is there anything I can say to you to get into that dress? I mean if rolling around like two foxes in heat is your thing, I have a lot of room in my backyard.” Yes, pissing this woman off was more his thing. Trying to play the nice man game wasn’t going to last very long. Plus, if she walked away mad or not and he got to follow-he would get the benefit of watching that ass in action.

Midori gaped at Giles in shock and disgust as he spoke about her body. "You act as if you wish to get to know me, then you make such comments." She placed her hands on her chest. "This is not the real me. I am a fox." It was not entirely true, her shapeshifted human form was natural for her, but her true form was the fox. "Do you really have any interest in me besides mating with me? If I were to allow you access to me, let you indulge in your wanton carnality... You'd lose your interest in me."

She rolled her eyes at Giles' disgust at her choice of food. He so clearly did not understand a thing about her. She grit her teeth. "Quite frankly, Giles-sensei... You're lucky I did not order the rabbit.... Alive."

Midori slammed her hand down on the table and got to her feet. "That's it... I've had QUITE enough of you. Call me when you feel like acting like a civilized creature." She turned and stalked away. She paused for a moment, turning back to him. "I can't believe I dressed like a Gaijin for you!"

With that, she transformed into her fox form and disappeared out the door.

“God, why are you so difficult to have sex with?” he wondered to himself, while watching her leave. The sad truth was, there was a lot of interest to Midori that was not spoken. He was Giles for Christ sakes there was no way he was going to openly admit that he felt an attraction to a woman for her personality. She had the type of personality where she wasn’t afraid to fight back if he made a comment that was highly offensive and he needed that in life. She was beautiful but smart and confident. Though the fox thing was an odd turn on, she was interesting to out with.

So yes, he wanted to do other things besides mate with her and it made him lift a lip and walk after her to see her disappear into the distance.

“Goddamnit. Why are you so difficult?” He had no idea if he was referring to himself of the Kitsune that was no longer in sight.
