Sunday: October 28, 2007
Who: Sanura, Adio and OPEN
When: Afternoon
Where: The Sweets Shop
What: Random talking and a visitor comes in.

“Adio?” Sanura began, walking from one side of the shop to the other. “What are you going to be for Halloween?” She asked with heavy curiosity. She kicked the chair he was in telling him it was his cue to set some sweets on a shelf she could not reach. In the meantime she of course was going to share what she was going to be.

“I was thinking of perhaps being some sort of princess. What do you think? I saw a dress at the tailors that was simply amazing.” It was the only time of the year she could get drunk and be in a period piece and it would be considered a normal thing.

Adio turned towards her while he was setting the bag of sweets on the shelf. “Is there a costume for a drama queen? I’m thinking that fits better.” He gave her a cozy little smile before he seated himself once again. “As for me, I never gave it any thought. It’s just Halloween. It’s not something I think about night and day or lose sleep over.”

Sanura rolled her eyes and seated herself across from him. “Be a jackass.” Of course she meant that with all the love in her heart. “Just prevent yourself from being really boring.” When her brother reached for some chocolates, she slapped his hand and rose to her feet. Sanura was pretty sure she heard someone enter the shop. “Touch something and die.” She warned with an arched brow then went to scout who was inside.

Leo had simply been walking around Elysium, taking in the sights and seeing the options he and Shawn had open. The elemental, like always, insisted on following, but Leo knew it was a bit too soon for him to be interacting with others. Shawn had to be introduced to society in contained increments... something Leo could watch and monitor. These people would expect... interaction of some sort. A smile, a nod, a quick hello, something or another. And it was not like he and Shawn could simply ignore the people here like they always had, or move on quickly to avoid ties.

So, Leo had asked Shawn not to come yet, and won only after promising to be back as quickly as possible. Leo strode about town, and only stopped after the Sweet shop caught his attention. He had not had anything sweet in months... a bit now seemed perfect.

"Hello?" He asked as he pushed the door open, subconsciously expecting the place to be abandoned, but knowing full well that it was a ridiculous thought.

Sanura was the type of person who remembered every face she had come across and when she came face to face with the ‘costumer’, she knew it was someone she had not met before. There were so many people in the sanctuary. Sanura was certain there could be people within the Town Cottages she still had yet to meet.

The therianthrope stepped a bit closer to the stranger and gave a light-hearted smile. “May I help you?” She knew that was kind of a silly question. Sweets were sweets right? She figured since this wasn’t a place of clothing or crafting people were well aware of what sweets they were seeking. Many people probably just wanted something to bring home along with other goods.

She quickly gave a look behind to give Adio a reminding look and then looked back towards the stranger. “It’s hard to imagine, but trust me when I say we just may have what you are looking for.”

Leo stepped warily into the Sweets Shop, only to be confronted by someone trying to be helpful. He turned to him (her?) and smiled giving a hearty "Hello" and trying to sound much older once he saw exactly WHO had addressed him.

He was eager to meet the residents here, hoping they would be friendly, and that at least some would be patient with Shawn. He took a second look at the woman, and then took a look inside the store itself. "I'm Leo Dorian," he said, a few seconds after his initial greeting. "just moved here, and was wondering if there were really any candy shops left."

Just what he was looking for? He gave another brilliant smile, eager for the challenge. "Do you guys have any gum?" He asked. He had been craving the stuff for something akin to months now, yet had never bothered.

Well, didn’t he have a rather unique last name? Sanura immediately thought of Dorian Gray. The character of Dorian Gray was quite interesting, so maybe this here fellow was quite interesting as well. Well, everyone in the sanctuary was interesting in their own ways, so she was sure the stranger wouldn’t let her down. Even if he was simply a human. But she somewhat highly doubted that. She had yet to simply meet a human besides Emily’s ex, Mathias.

“Well Leo it is nice to meet you. My name is Sanura Hart. Of course you can just call me Sanura. The guy sort of hidden is my brother Adio.” She craned her head just a bit to make sure he wasn’t eating any of the candies. She wouldn’t hesitate to make him pay for eating any of the candies. Though of course she was just as guilty. The therianthrope was just the type that liked to be bossy at times.

Sanura couldn’t help but smirk when he asked her about gum. “Of course we do. What kind? Bubble gum? Or the regular kind? If it is the regular kind you are seeking then we have all sorts of flavors. Cinnamon, Mint..but I can’t say it will taste the same as home. But, we do have gum.” She threw him a curious look. "You know..just gum? Look at all the delicious stuff we have here!"

"Nice to meet you too Sanura." Leo said smiling. For a small fraction of a second, his eyes did not move, and yet a tiny portion of his brain reminded him that it was quite rude to stare. He looked over at Adio, mostly looking to see why Sanura was so interested, but also keen for a face to go with the unusual name. He gave him a quick wave of the hand for a hello, before realizing exactly how idiotic that looked indoors.

"What kind?" Leo asked himself, pondering. They actually had different kinds? How very interesting. "Mint gum would be fantastic. Great way to keep your breath fresh." He blushed a bit at the confession, but knew full well that he had picked up the habit during his short time in high school.

"I would introduce you to my brother," He said, quickly changing the subject. "But he decided to stay home today. His name's Shawn."

With a random and unrequested introduction of his brother out of the way, he could move on to topics he was a bit less tongue tied about. He thought for a second about Sanura's question involving sweets. Gummy bears. Most definitely. They were one of the few sweets he enjoyed indulging in, but he had yet to see any in the many jars lining the store.

Sanura was the sort of gal that would let the first "sale" of mint gum pass. Of course the next time Leo would need a trade of some sort. So, with a smile she handed him a small pack full of mint gum and sat at a chair nearby. "That amount is on me. Next time, just perhaps bring in some sweets of your own or something you believe could be of value here." She informed. Not everyone knew that money was useless here. Sad thing indeed. Many rich people were on the same level as the poor and she bet they hated it.

If Leo liked things like gummy bears, they sure had it. Sanura recalled many people coming in requesting things such as gummy bears, worms, sour bears..whatever was gummy like, they could do it. It was amazing what reading the back of a candy box could do in a sanctuary. It just took more time than usual.

She gave a curious look when she heard Leo had not brought his brother. "Is he the shy one of sorts?" she gave a soft sigh. "I can understand that. The marketplace can seem overwhelming."

"Thanks," He said smiling. Taking the pack of gum. It... was a bit unsettling to say the least. He was not spoiled, but Julius had raised him with pride. One did not take something they did not need for free, especially when they had a means of paying for it. "I don't know what you consider of value here, but I can do this..."

He reached out with confidence and lay a hand on a glass container which housed some sort of sweet or another. Before the siblings' eyes the glass container had become a brilliant sapphire, it was the darkest on top, growing into an almost translucent blue near the bottom. He looked over his shoulder at Sanura again. "Any good?" He asked, truly curious. Who knew how valuable decoration and gemstones were in this society.

"Shy is one way to describe him." Leo said, the chuckle of a private joke in his voice. "He's about twenty-six, but not much for crowds. I should bring him here some time...he's never had any candy." He blushed a bit at the confession. He would bring Shawn some himself, but he'd rather his brother choose for himself the first time around.

Sanura gave somewhat of a fascinated look when Leo showed him the glowing glass. Giving an impressed grin to Adio, she nodded. “This sure seems good enough to me. Consider yourself set for candy for quite some time. I mean this is quite beautiful and candy and sweets are just sweets and all. This is quite shiny.” She said playfully, touching the newly decorated glass piece with a sparkle in her eye. “Hmphm, almost looks like something in our house.” Sanura couldn’t say she wasn’t spoiled as far as what she received as a child, but she as a person would never have a ‘brat like’ personality.

The therianthrope’s eyes widened in surprise at two things. “Twenty six!? He is older than you and is shyer than you!?” She gave a sweet smile as she laughed, meaning that she was not trying to insult Shawn in any sort of way. “That is why you must push him a bit! Most of us natives are extremely friendly!” She assured.

She then went on to her next surprise. ‘PLUS he doesn’t like sweets!? Who in this wide world does not fancy sweets!?” She seriously could not fathom this. Sweets were like a gift from the Greek gods in her eyes. I mean..a life with nothing but healthy food would kill her.

Leo gave Sanura a brilliant smile, glad to have his work appreciated. "I'm glad you like it. It's really nothing, I would assume candy is harder to make" He admitted honestly, all the while secretly glad that his alchemy was still somewhat valued here. "And it is quite shiny."

He chuckled nervously at Sanura's reaction to his admission, and sought to explain. But how much did one reveal? He assumed all of it would be okay, this small society seemed pretty open. But, in the sake of interest, he would give a condensed version. "He's... not exactly twenty six. Just looks like it." Knowing that answer would only confuse the poor woman more, he explained in a bit more detail. "He was only...created about sixteen years ago. And only free to interact with others for about a year." He said created, because Leo knew that Shawn had existed before him and Julius, had been a being of air, had been free. That was what he felt bad about, knowing that he and his grandfather had taken that part of him away, and bound him to themselves. It had only been about a year since Shawn had been out of Julius's grasp. However much he loved his grandfather, he knew the man was in no way kind to Shawn. Leo only hoped that he was better.

"He'll come around when he's ready. I wouldn't dare push him." Leo stated, defense of his brother growing passionately in his eyes. Leo knew that a 'push' from him was more akin to being shoved by seven hundred pound sumo wrestler. Shawn would do most anything to please him, and the weight of an alchemist's orders did not help that fact. So he had decided long ago that 'pushing' was not something he wished to do. He had decided that he would never give an order, never command. He would never become a 'master' to Shawn. He refused.

"Never trying something, is not the same as not liking it." His normally happy and brilliant voice had suddenly been laced with the cold, icy tone of the adult which he had learned from Julius. "I would appreciate it, if you would not insult my brother." Given, she had not necessarily insulted him, it felt that way to him. He laughed a bit while saying this, in order to take the venom out of his words, and gave her a fake little smile.

One of the few. No, one of the only ways to get Leo angry was to insult or attack his family. And to him, this Sanura was well on her way to attacking the only bit of family he had left.

Adio was minding his business for most of the event, but his brow quirked when he sensed there might be some tension between the two that wasn’t at all going towards the pleasant side. His body shifted towards the two and he folded his arms. “My sister couldn’t insult anyone.” Adio assured, but there was a sense of firmness in it. Adio was immensely protective of his sister and if he sensed there was something going on, he wouldn’t hesitate to chime in. “She’s just a little..over the top sometimes.”

Adio stood to his feet and leaned against the wall, his eyes shifting between the two. “If she offended you I am sure she is sorry.” He turned towards his sister with a soft look in his eyes. Sanura should probably apologize to the gentleman and make everything alright.

Sanura could have said sorry but she backed away slightly towards the wall with a bit of a glare in her eyes. Her intentions were purely friendly. But perhaps she was over the top and didn’t take into consideration that not everyone understood her words the way she meant to come across. The glint in her eyes when she spoke of sweets was like a kid in a candy store. When she spoke of Leo’s brother, she meant that she was eager to meet him. Unintentionally, words just seemed to have left her mouth with one breath. “That was a little rude.” Her glare only got worse. Sanura was as sweet as pie, but if she felt like she was being treated mean to for no reason, she could be as fierce as the tiger she could become.

“I assure you no insult was coming towards your brother. But that is not an apology. I have a brother as well, I can swear to you I would clearly know what offending a family member would be like Sir Dorian.” In return, she gave him an equally fake smile. She felt her cheeks get a little heated, but then she took a deep breath. When she met the look of her brother again, she sighed.

“What!? There really is nothing to say sorry to! It’s a misunderstanding. But I can understand his concerns and respect them.”

Her little tiff would blow over, but she liked to let people know she wasn’t docile and wouldn’t set her hands in her lab and get quiet when someone scolded her and she had something to say in return.

The ice in Leo's voice had melted, but a strange look still lingered in his eyes. "I am sure she would never intentionally insult anyone" Leo said, turning to speak to Adio. While Sanura's intentions had been friendly, it had been a long time since Leo had been in the company of anyone who even knew of the existence of Shawn. Throughout his life, the only ones who knew Shawn well enough to even comment were Julius and his colleagues, and god only knew that their words were never kind. Growing up in a world where someone he cared about was constantly put down was difficult, especially since he could not protest. Now that he could speak out against it, he would. But it seemed that he was speaking out a bit too much.

"It was indeed a little rude." He said in response to Sanura, smiling in amusement, if she would not apologize he would not either. "While you may have a brother, I doubt you share a similar situation." He stated simply, leaving it at that. "And am I supposed to call you Madam Hart now?" The amusement bubbling within him had reached his smile at this point. Leo had always been quick to forgive, though he would hardly admit it.

Sanura tried to maintain a serious look, but she quickly found a grin composing itself on her face. She quietly stomped her foot behind the counter and let out a defeated sigh. “If you call me Madam Hart I will feel like royalty.” She teased, hardly able to stay mad. As quick as she was ice she could become as warm as butter.

The thought did come to Sanura that not all relatives were the same. Brothers could be in all situations. Leo did not tell her enough detail for Sanura to think that his brother could be just about anyone. It wasn’t his fault, it was her fault for assuming he was being mean and not just doing his duties as a brother. “I’m sorry about being so overbearing about your brother. Not all brothers are the same.” She nodded lightly to him. “Can an apology make us okay?” She asked genuinely. “Or should I give you some more gum?”

Her grin only became more vibrant and she moved some of her strands away from her face.

Sanura's grin only widened Leo's. "What about Mademoiselle Hart then?" He said, saying her name in a rather bad french accent. The ice that had quickly formed in his voice had somehow transformed into a deep yet surprisingly warm tone.

"An apology is fine." He said quickly. "But some gummy bears wouldn't hurt." He attached a smile and a slight chuckle to make it clear that he was joking, although a small part of him wished he had some. He was completely unaware of the fact that the small store did in fact carry the gelatinous treat.

Sanura couldn’t help but smirk at him for a good few moments before she moved towards the gummy bear jar. “Sour or regular?” She was surprised at how addicting the sour ones were. She wasn’t sure how into the gummy’s Leo was, but she knew of these candies called Sour Patch Kids and she could eat them for nearly a quarter of the day. They tasted just like that. Some, like little surprises within the sour gummies were incredibly sour. It would be funny to be walking around then suddenly be seen puckering your lips like a fish.

“And Mademoiselle sounds delightful. Make sure to call me that when you see me in my carriage.” She teased. “Though I doubt I will be a princess for Halloween..how boring.” The therianthrope rest her hands on the table near the gummy bear jar. “Are you planning to dress up for Halloween?” she tried not to sound eager when she asked him. He really should go, she bet people would be glad to see him there.

Leo let out a goodhearted chuckle for a few moments, before answering her question. "You don't have to give me any gummies" He said seriously. "But if you insist, sour it is." He had always been fond of Sour Patch Kids .

"Okay. Signora" He said, switching to the Italian version yet. "I shall call you Mademoiselle whenever I see you in your royal carriage." He gave her a bow and a wicked grin. "I thought every girl dreamed of being a princess growing up?"

"Hmmm, I don't even know if I'll be leaving the house this Halloween. Shawn doesn't really like crowds. But... I don't know, maybe... Aladdin" Not the prince version of course, but the poor beggar Aladdin. Now that guy was cool. "How about you?"

Sanura couldn’t help but laugh at the Italian take on her name. “Signora sounds like something to eat! Like a pasta dish or something. Now I am hungry.” Which was okay since she could cheat and just eat some of the candy, she was providing service by working at the place. Of course she always paid the place back if she pigged out or something.

“I guessed I dreamed of being a princess. But I think I got tired of all the other girls dreaming to be the same thing. Don’t get me wrong. The dresses are nice. But I would love to be something historical, or kick ass.” She declared happily.

“Ohh Aladdin! I like that. I think you would make a good Aladdin. You should try and find an Abu somewhere. “ She gave him a pointed look. “No, I am not a monkey.” But she couldn’t help but smirk. “I could see you pulling off the whole purple vest right now. That and the MC hammer pants!”

"Well... being Italian myself, I pride myself on knowing that Signora is in fact, not a pasta dish." He said with a slight smile. "But we can pretend that it's a type of appetizer if you'd like." Speaking of food, Leo was getting hungry himself. It had seemed like forever since he'd last eaten.

"You could be something historical and kick butt." He said, replacing ass with butt as he was not one to swear. "Maybe.. medieval?" It had been the first thing he thought of when she said historical. And they certainly did not lack in the butt kicking.

"Would I now?" Said Leo, puffing out his chest in mock arrogance. "I'm afraid they don't have Abus around here... though I wouldn't be surprised to find a magic carpet or two." He had meant it as a joke, but was a little disturbed to find himself wondering if it was true.

He was about to reply to her, smile spreading on his lips, when he noticed the time on his watch. Needless to say, the smile was killed rather quickly. He had promised Shawn he'd be back home thirty minutes ago... and 'home' was still rather far away.

"I err... have to go." Leo said quickly. A bit rushed. He held out a hand to Sanura and Adio in turn "Nice to meet you both. And thank you for these." He said, holding up the package of gum.

"Hopefully I'll see you at the fair." He said, halfway to the door.
