Who: Dione Castel & Voe Cochell [open to others]
When: Evening, after the Town Hall Meeting
Where: Walking in town after the meeting
What: Dione hasn't had an interaction with Voe since Nathaniel's dinner party and apparently Voe is interested enough to follow the blind medium around in an effort to ascertain her level of skill.

Dione had come to town simply because there was supposed to be a town hall meeting. So she had walked to town wearing a coat that she had brought with her, it wasn't quite heavy enough for the falling temperatures of this area of the world, but that was something she would consider on another day. At the moment, she was just trying to understand the information that had been presented. This place made her so confused. Generators working off of magical power?

Even after being introduced to a telepath and a necromancer, she still had such a hard time wrapping her head around the concept of magic being a source of energy in the real world. Then there was the other fact that she had been essentially forced to accept, a fact that she was doing an extremely good job of not thinking about.

Dexter was dead. He wasn't currently with her because even he seemed depressed by the information preferring to stay at the bungalow and let her make it alone in hopes that she would acclimate sooner thtat way. Truthfully, it just made it easier to forget about being away from him. Her seat at the town hall meeting had been toward the back so that she didn't have to fight her way through people in order to get to the door. Even if people realized that she couldn't see them and thus wasn't quite sure how to get around them all the time, it made things so much more difficult than it needd to be. So once the meeting ended, she slipped out.

The news that it was October already was surprising to her as well. How long had it been since she had been in Atlanta? The world had started to fall apart before the commencement ceremony at University of Georgia which the symphony sometimes played for as a charity event. That would have been back in May. People had been dying before then. Mother had died before the anniversary of the accident. That was in July. Father had gone not long after that, though he had tried his best to hold on, doing all that he could to keep her from getting caught in the fighting that had gone on. His heart had stopped while he was sleeping, too weak to keep going. Dione herself had awakened to the lack of sound, when you're sleeping within a few feet of someone and they suddenly stop breathing, it does have a tendency to wake you when your world consists of sound.

After that, it had been just her and Dexter. He kept her out of trouble until the scouts came, helping her find what there was to eat. She'd lost a good bit of weight during that period from the constant moving and scarcity of food. Now it was starting to put back on, but the constant walking was doing wonders for keeping her slim and trim.

With how bad things had been previously, she should have been happy with the world. Dione had a hard time being happy with it though. Her family, all of them, were dead. Everyone she had ever cared about was dead and gone.

The night air ruffled her hair and she twirled one long strand back behind her ear, painfully aware of the light tap that came from her cane against the hardpacked dirt. It would have been easier to remain mad. Live without the awareness. What didfference did it make if she knew for certain that everyone was gone other than it kept her from dealing with the depression that now settled on her shoulders like some kind of funeral shroud?

Voe had no intention of attending the town meeting because she assumed that whatever matters brought up were to be trivial, however, Nathaniel insisted it was necessary for them to be a part of the community. He just prefered to stick by rules, preferably any that weren't his, but even so Voe acquiesed his request and had gone. She parted with him after it finished, with him heading back to the forest cottage and her lingering a little longer.

It was fortunate Nathaniel had left before he saw Voe's gaze fall upon his ally Dione - or Moth, as Voe had chosen to call her. She started to follow her somewhat closely at first, seeing if Dione's hearing was good enough to recognize her soft footsteps as a sign she was following her. She slowly fell behind afterwards, ten feet behind her before letting the distance grow between them.

Oh yes, she had noticed how Moth kept to herself during Volcano's dinner party. Just because she lost her sight did not mean her confidence had to crumble with it. Before she became a vampire, Voe suffered from bad eyesight due to her albinism - not the same situation, but close enough. Vanessa assured her that if someone managed to be elegant despite a disability, then they would be all the more elegant because of that. Voe wanted Moth to be an ally worthy of both Volcano and herself and thus the silent training began now.

She would follow Dione to see where she was going and then declare her intention to help - but then again, she would help whether or not Dione wanted it. Her gait remained slow and quiet, purposefully treading as softly as she could.

Dione had never had the confidence that others seemed to have. Dexter had all the confidence for dealing with other people. The only thing that Dione did well was play, so she tended to avoid human interaction when there wasn't a musical instrument involved. After all, there was no reason to keep trying to force herself into making it work if it wasn't necessary. Going blind had only crushed her further into herself, making her feel like a bug in a jar, constantly stared and made fun of.

Awkward had been her hallmark as a child. Now she was graceful, but she couldn't see that. The fact that she now had to consider her steps more carefully had made her physical awareness better and thus made her more graceful than she had been. Elegant was not something she considered of herself. Nor articulate. Nor pretty. Nor even truly talented. Well, maybe a little talented, where music was concerned, but nowhere else.

One trick pony, that was how she considered herself. She was good at one thing only. The fact that there were footsteps matching hers did get her attention for a moment, making her pick up her head a little to listen more carefully. Then they were gone so she stopped paying attention to them. Where was she going? She had never gone anywhere from the Town Hall, so she was listening to the things around her to figure out exactly where she was. Maybe she would go to the Wine Bar and play a set before going home, to settle her nerves. It was however starting to get late, so she would have to be quick about it if she wanted to get back before the boogies came out at night.

She didn't really think there was anything she needed to worry about, but she'd always been told to try and be in before dark because there was always the chance of something worse than normal happening after dark.

The girl barely looked or paid attention to Voe, which irritated her suddenly. If she continued with this lackadaisical attitude, it was possible for anyone to overtake her with a single blow. No, Voe was to train her before that happened. Her new ally - the project. Her pace now increased, dress rustling loud enough to be heard clearly, and she approached her side within the next several seconds. "You refrained from ascertaining if anyone followed you," she scolded and reached out to grab Dione's wrist. "Knowing the environment within you walk is vital, as is locating every person who treads in any direction."

She was only warming Dione of her mistakes and what had to be done so she would be able to improve herself, and Voe dropped her wrist. "As of now, your blindness weakens you, lowers you down so that others may trod upon you should they desire it. I will instruct and enable your senses to be fine-tuned, thus becoming an ally of which Volcano and I will be proud." Why should Moth refuse her teaching if it was sure to help her? Voe had no doubt in her ability to assist her and already plans of instructing formed in her mind.

"You are Moth," Voe told her, "but you must earn the name I have given you. I have yet to see if you possess the skill to do so." She stood in front of Dione now with her eyes fixed firmly upon the other woman. "You will not fold upon yourself; there is to be no shying from me or withholding your opinion. If there is an action of mine you do not like during my lessons, you will state as such without hesitation." Needless to say, there was no backing away from actually getting the lessons in the first place.

Dione had listened hard enough to recognize that there had been footsteps matching hers. Then she had stopped paying attention to it because people walked around her all the time. Her whole life was made up the marching sound of walking feet and the constant breathing of people who weren't paying attention to her. Ignore and be ignored.

Then there was the person walking up to her, that got her attention easily. She half turned her head, hair slipping across her neck as she turned. Someone was talking to her, very rapidly and though she understood the words, she understood the hand landing on her wrist a whole lot better.

Why did this person sound like her mother when she was telling Dexter and Dione not to sneak cookies from the jar in the kitchen? Then she recognized the voice as the one whom Dr. Wyatt lived with: Ms. Voe. Dione could only blink at the tirade as it continued.

"M-moth," she finally did get a word in edgewise and that single word carried with it a whole lot of confusion. Taking a step back as Voe was very much in her personal space, Dione said nothing else.

This made absolutely no sense to her. What did this woman want and why?

Voe had no intention of 'ignore and being ignored.' First of all, where was the fun in that and secondly, why would anyone want to be ignored? The more attention one received, it became possible to acquire respect. Anyone who possessed somewhat admirable qualities needed to raise their heads high So far Dione had not responded positively or negativity and Voe wondered if there was any hope left for her. When she finally did speak, she questioned the name Voe had given her and stumbled over the word doing so. A stammer was not anything familar to her - all Voe knew was that she wanted it gone before too long or else it would severely irritate her.

"Moth," she repeated. "Surely you are able to speak the word without sounding like a fool. Gather your words before you release them and I will wait for a short while." Should she fail, Voe would do what was necessary in order to lead her to the right path once more. Unfortunately for Dione, the vampire was not to stop until her goal was completed. "Your behavior at the dinner party was impossible to ignore; Volcano requested you attend because he enjoyed your company and yet you slunk in the corner pathetically."

Her objective had to be clear now. "As no one else seems willing, I will correct your weak behavior. Expect me to arrive at your dwelling for the first lesson." If Dione wanted out, now was a good time for her to say something. Voe was on the verge of cementing her plans and there was a sliver of a possibility for her to stop. Stubbornness ranked as one of her strongest traits, however, so Dione might be out of luck.

Dione didn't care to have people respect her. If they would just leave her alone, she was more than content. In fact, she was quite pleased to be completely and utterly overlooked. Yes, she stumbled over the name because it seemed an odd nickname for her to be given. A very odd name if she was to be completely honest, which she certainly wasn't about to be with this woman who obviously had some distinct issues.

Voe's words were listened to without much in the way of a facial expression, she didn't know what to say or how. It was surreal. As if someone had just thrown her into the Twilight Zone. Stepping back yet again, she turned to move around the woman who had accosted her in the street.

There was nothing wrong with her that needed correcting and if Dr. Wyatt had a problem with her behavior, then it should have been him who reprimanded her. "There is n-nothing about me that requires co-correcting." However she might have felt about her stutter, she certainly didn't want some strange woman popping up out of nowhere claiming that she could fix something about her.

Voe had little tolerance for people who stared at her with a blank expression on their faces most of the time and her impatience grew with the girl. Didn't she know that she was trying to help? If she refused her help, then what was the point of her or Volcano having Moth around them? She furrowed her brow and pursed her lips so it was plain to see she was frustrated. "Yes, there is," she answered, "and you would do well to remember that." With that, she walked around Dione to continue briskly down the street.
