Who: Daiyu and Logan
When: Late Afternoon
Where Art supply shop
What: Meeting a new friend with similar taste!

Daiyu was surprised that in the morning hours she did not argue with her sister. She simply asked Jia if she could fetch some of the goods in town if she was too busy in the art store and her sister happily agreed. Was there something going on here? Was her sister dipping into a hidden supply of nitrous oxide that she wasn’t aware was around? She guessed their time together was making them get along more.

The art supply shop was fairly quiet and Daiyu found herself doodling behind the desk, drawing pictures of old tattoo designs she fantasized inking on people back when she was an ink artist. It gave her somewhat of a saddened feeling inside but if she didn’t let it out and draw, it would have probably gotten worse. She didn’t like being the type of girl to get all worked up over things she couldn’t change.

She hid her sketches away and sat up behind the desk when she heard a noise that usually meant someone had entered the shop. She had grown friendlier now when greeting people. As long as they didn’t bombarded the place like Adair once did. Though Daiyu didn’t quite find the stranger she still spoke up, her voice by no means rude or annoyed. “May I help you?”

It had been a while since Logan had been at the art store. Mitsuko had kept him pretty well-supplied. But he was running short on yellow painting. He'd been making a lot of pictures of Chris lately.

He was silent as he went into the store and looked around. Since it had been a while since he had come in, he wanted to take his time, make sure there wasn't anything he wanted to try out.

At the sound of the voice asking him if he needed help, Logan shrank down. While he was becoming more personable every day, he still found himself a little bit shy when it came to being around new people. He still couldn't speak to them. He could speak to Mitsuko, Zach, Chris and Charlie, but... He was pretty sure around anyone else, he would remain silent.

He peeked around the rack of canvases shyly, eyes wide and a little bit fearful. He then raised a hand and waved in greeting.

Daiyu was more used to people who were outgoing than the shy ones. She had met Zosimus who was a child but Logan seemed a bit older. But she couldn’t rule out the fact that there were many reasons to be shy. Some people were naturally shy or the recent tragic events caused people to not wish to speak. He was adorable and she wanted to make sure that she seemed as harmless as possible.

“Don’t worry I’m not going to bite you.” She stated in a teasing tone. “Feel free to look around. I’m here if you need me.” Daiyu liked to talk, so it would have been nice to have at least learned his name. “Can you tell me your name?” A smile immediately formed on her face. “I always like to know the name of my customers.”

Words were still a problem for Logan. While he was able to converse with Mitsuko, Zach and Chris, everyday people were a problem for him. His voice just stuck in his throat and he found himself unable to meet their eye. It was for this reason that Logan waved again and quickly turned his head, looking at his shoulder and fiddling with his collar.

He knew this woman was probably perfectly nice. She was a little bit intimidating to his eye. Maybe it was her hair, her tattoo or her lip ring. Logan thought the entire look was cool, but it was still something that intimidated the young man. He supposed it suggested strength and fearlessness to him. Neither were things Logan had. Even those qualities in his own sister scared the pants off him sometimes.

But she'd asked his name. It would be rude for him not to try to convey it to her, even if he was having trouble talking. He remembered how he'd managed to tell Marley his name and reached into the bag he had on his shoulder. He pulled out his drawing book and held it out to Daiyu. He pointed to the name written at the top.

Daiyu noticed there was something unique to the young man but she couldn’t quite place it. How could she be so blind! It was the ears! Daiyu probably was so ignorant to the ears because she immediately accepted them. She was so used to being judged that she hardly ever judged anyone’s appearance. In face she wished she could sport herself some white fox ears. Of course, the psychometric made no comment of the ears. She smiled and made a small ‘ahh’ noise when she learned that his name was Logan.

“Well. It is very nice to meet you Logan.” Daiyu stated sincerely, understanding if he felt uncomfortable talking. “I’m Daiyu.” She waited a moment before she continued. “It seems like you enjoy drawing. I haven’t seen you in here much yet since I just started working here not all too long ago, but do you come here often?”

The young man was adorable. Daiyu wouldn’t mind having a silent conversation with him. It didn’t annoy her in the least. “They have quite the impressive amout of supplies here. So if you need anything in particular just sa-er write it.”

Logan felt a little silly, having to carry around a piece of paper with his name on it, but it was the only way people would be able to find out. There were many things he could convey by gesture and expression, but his name would be a mystery if he didn't have his sketchbook with him.

Hesitantly, his hand shaking, Logan reached out to grasp Daiyu's hand briefly and shake it, to tell her it was nice to meet her too. He was a bit unsure about the gesture, but it was the only thing he could think to do. He gave a brief nod at her comment about liking to draw. That was his favourite thing in the world. While he did enjoy painting, there was a beautiful simplicity to just sitting down with a pencil and paper.

Logan smiled at Daiyu and gave a brief bow in thanks. He considered her offer and opened his sketchbook to a picture of Chris. He gestured to it and then took a pencil out of his bag. It was only a few inches long, not really usable any longer.

Wow, the kid was pretty damn good! Daiyu tilted her head to one side then the other with an impressed hum. “Wow kid. Can you just look at someone and remember them?” Daiyu could do that, but it took her awhile in inking class to not have to look at a sketch to often as she inked someone. Time was money and to get clients to come back she had to get her time pacing at a kick ass pace. “That’s amazing. How old are you?” She would guess he was in his late teens, maybe eighteen at the most. Just because he was quiet and she couldn’t get a hint of his voice. But since he carried a shy nature, he also looked maybe about sixteen. So perhaps he was seventeen?

She saw his pencil and nodded a few times before she hopped on to where the pencils were, neatly wrapped in about a pack of six. “Here you go!” She put her hand out to Logan. “These are so cool.” She went on back to get a piece of clay. “Do you have one of these? These are clay erasers. They cause a lot less of a mess when you erase a mistake.” She offered it to him with an open palm, a good big mess of it so he wouldn’t have to worry about running out of it anytime soon.

Logan blushed a bit at being called a kid. He didn't much care for his youth being pointed out, though it seemed it was often these days. But Daiyu's words were complimentary and he chose to focus on that. He gave a small nod at the question of his recall skills. Logan wasn't sure where he had developed it, but he always seemed to have the ability to see something and recreate it with relative ease.

Bowing his head, Logan opened his mouth to speak. His voice slightly raspy and very quiet, he managed to get out a single word: "Seventeen." He still wasn't very good at conversing with strangers, but the odd word or two would pop out at times.

Logan accepted the pack of pencils with a small smile. He then took the clay eraser. He did have some, but it was getting quite dirty from use. He could always use more. His smile grew brighter as he managed to look up at Daiyu. "Thank you." He was blushing even deeper with the effort of speech.

“Ohh. So he could speak? It sure seemed to make him uncomfortable so she wasn’t going to stress it. It brought her a sense of accomplishment that she was even able to get him to state his age out loud. “Wow. I was actually right. I thought you were right in between sixteen or eighteen, so you hold your age well.” Daiyu complimented, getting a set of brushed from the corner of the room then taking a moment to stock them.

“Have you been here long?” She knew that people either came not too long after the war began or came in sessions because of scouting missions. They must have been occurring from all around the world. “I’ve been here since about July. It feels like just yesterday, you know? If you occupy yourself-time will go by nice and fast." Of course she didn’t say it out loud, but she thought if one just stayed inside, they would feel like this time was lasting forever. The last thing she wanted to do was offend someone.

The psychometric tilted her head with a smile. “No problem by the way. Feel free to ask for anything else.”

Logan smiled nervously at Daiyu. Now that he had spoken, he felt a bit pressured to continue with it. While he was becoming more and more comfortable with speaking to people, it was still something that he did not like doing often. "Oh." Logan nodded, shrugging slightly at the comment. At least she didn't think he was younger than he actually was.

Looking down, Logan though about when he arrived in the haven. When he held his father's body and was brought in by Theora and Ide. When he met his sister. "Two months," Logan replied. He didn't understand Daiyu's comment about it seeming like yesterday. It felt like he had been here forever. Like his life outside the haven was a million years ago.

Logan smiled softly at Daiyu and gave her a nod. "Thank you." He had enough for today. With another nod, he left the art shop. But he would be back. He hoped Daiyu might become a new friend.
