Who: Sheldon, Hayate and Eliza
When: Late Night
Where: The Wine Bar
What: Talking about some recent rumors

It was like there was something new about the Wine Bar in Elysium, something new to offer. If going towards morbid theories perhaps it was the death of Simon Myles. Ever since he was found dead in the bathroom, all Sheldon would hear about was speculation as to who was guilty. Or he would hear people playfully or seriously talk about who might be next. The psychic thought the whole series of events involving the man would have grown old by now, but apparently it was still a hot discussion.

The full moon was on the rise. Sheldon could tell a few restless lycans were scattered around the bar, most of them ordering hard drinks. Their irritation was detectable from a mile away and to spare him confrontation, he just left bottles of their vices at their tables and mostly stayed behind the bar. Less work for him and he enjoyed talking to the people who sat upfront.

For awhile the people at the bar were happily served and Sheldon sat at a corner, bored. He must have closed his eyes for a long moment because when he opened them he saw someone he hadn’t seen before. Some people were just people he served drinks to, but for some reason the new person at the bar struck him as interesting.

He rest his hands on the bar table and asked in his usual slightly friendly tone. “What can I get for you?”

Hayate used to frequent The Wine Bar, but it seemed as the weeks passed by that his presence was nowhere to be found until tonight. The vampire could not pinpoint his reasons for coming here again, though he knew it might just have been a desire to hang in under the cloud of chit-chat and murmur to hear what people were saying lately while under the influence. Sometimes patrons revealed some rather interesting things, and one never knew which direction their information would flow. The Wine Bar was at least good for one thing in continuance. Information was always a good thing to have on one's side.

Glancing up from the bare as a man addressed him, Hayate recognized his face as one of the workers here. Hayate had come to The Wine Bar under many disguises, none of which might be memorable to the young man. With so many customers in here every night, it was hard to keep track of a few specific faces in the crowd. "Wine will be fine," Hayate said in a normal tone. "Red wine. I hate white." Truthfully, Hayate hated them both, but at least he could pretend with red wine in one way or another. He was not going to order blood with all of the murmurs going around thanks to The Wine Bar's workers. Tensions towards vampires were not very nice right about now.

“Red wine coming right up.” Sheldon replied to the man with his usual tapping of the bar table. For some reason it was stored usually under the table or a bit aways from the other drinks, almost as if people were less interested in the drink. He couldn’t blame the placement of the drink. To him wine of any sorts was terribly boring. That’s just because the Scot loved to get trashed and the wine family took a little too long to do the deed. But in its defense it was good for a casual night out and in ones hands it looked classy with a pretty dress on. Plus it was good for the lightweights.

He found a fairly big rounded glass and filled it close to the brim before he set it before the stranger. “There you are.” An amused smile came across his lips. “I can’t blame you for hating regular wine. It does taste rather awful.” He stated with a sigh, grabbing a shot glass and filling it up for another customer. After a long moment he narrowed his eyes in curiosity.

“I think I have seen you here before. I’m just shite with remembering. Eliza usually has a better memory.” His smile was pretty much riddled with suggestiveness. “Especially the blokes.”

Hayate's eyes settled on the glass of red wine with obvious disinterest. It was hard to cover up his boredom, considering he was never a big fan of wine. The only thing he knew before he lost his taste was sake, and the real taste of this Western wine was unknown to him. However, he managed a small smile at the bartender. "Thank you," he said, pulling the glass towards himself, although he did not lift it for a drink. He would pretend to drink it once some time had passed him by.

A little laugh escaped his lips, light and melodic. It did not sound the typical way a man's laugh was expected to sound. "To be honest with you, I hate all wine. I just feel useless sitting here without a drink in front of me." Besides, wine was never the vampire's preferred method of disconnecting from reality. Drugs were a much more prominent method of accomplishing an altered state of consciousness, although Hayate often had trouble reaching such a state since being turned a vampire. However, there were a few drugs out there just for vampires. Powerful, potent drugs. Still, perhaps fresh human blood from an innocent would always be the sweetest, most intoxicating thing Hayate had ever drank in his long life. Nothing could beat a virgin's blood, especially a female, save maybe the blood of a baby.

Shrugging his shoulders somewhat, Hayate looked off at the crowd. "I've been here a few times," he admitted, turning his gaze back to Sheldon with a small, innocent smile. "It seems business has just been quiet lately. I don't know why, but it's made things around here a little bit boring." He held out one of his hands over the bar. "No offense, of course," Hayate added, as if he were afraid of insulting the man. "I like The Wine Bar. I guess I just don't know what happened lately to make things so quiet."

Sheldon gave a small chuckle at Hayate’s claim that the bar was boring. He wasn’t offended at all. “No I know this place is boring as shite. Sometimes I want to work both here and the Tiki Hut. I don’t mean to brag or anything, but my skills would probably go to better use there. However, it is getting cold so The Wine Bar it is for the upcoming weather.” He gave somewhat of a sigh before he leaned in a bit towards the vampire.

“But you see. It hasn’t truly been boring lately. People are just being quiet because they are afraid.” He leaned back and arched his brows at the fact. “I’ve worked here enough to be certain when things change. People limit their chat, look at everyone who walks in and analyze everything they do up to what they order to drink. They even do it to me and I’m harmless besides my habit of coming on to women.” He stated candidly.

“You see.” His head motioned towards where the bathroom was. “I’m sure you’ve heard, but a bloke was killed in that bathroom. I worked that night but I was lucky as hell not to have seen the fight take place. I value my neck. “ The psychic had to turn away to serve a drink to a rather impatient man, one of his least favorites. He rubbed his neck at the thought in the meantime.

“The blokes’ neck was broken and supposedly there were bite marks on his neck. Of course the rumor going around is one hell of a vampire is looking to score another big bite on his fishing pole.” He recalled Simon, how huge his body type was. “That man killed was no light-weight. All people can talk about is how they better look out for who looks suspicious. I doubt there will be a witch hunt of the sorts…but If you listen close..it’s in a way..hardly boring to listen to the whispers you catch. Or sometimes people talk to me about it.”

Eliza couldn't help but overhear the conversation between Sheldon and the man at the bar. She did recognize him, remembered that he used to frequent the Wine Bar a lot up until a few weeks ago. His presence in the establishment dwindled, and of course the gypsy witch noticed. She always noticed when the regulars left, or when she had a new customer or two.

"Spreading rumors, Shel?" She sidled up toward the other bartender and bumped her hip with his, smiling coyly at him. Eliza was a sexual beast, and she had no problems flirting with everyone she came across, man or woman. Sheldon just had the pleasure of experiencing it all the time since they worked together. Eliza leaned forward on the bar, her arms folded underneath her breasts. It made for a good view for the blonde man at the bar, which was Eliza's intention after all.

"And what are you talking about anyway," she swatted him lightly on his arm. "The neck wasn't broken, it just had bite marks on it. You didn't even want to touch it with a ten-foot pole," she teased. She leaned forward on the bar, closing the distance between herself and Hayate. "Someone strong definitely took him down, or at least a very hungry vampire." She winked at Hayate, and then looked over her shoulder at Sheldon.

"But what do I know," she asked with a smirk, turning around to rest her elbows on the bar. "I'm just a gypsy witch who serves wine to very attractive men."

Hayate's interest peaked once Sheldon began to talk about people being quiet because they were afraid. He leaned forward against the bar, having forgotten all about his glass of wine poured for him by the young man. This was far more interesting to hear about than the boring old tales of why people came to The Wine Bar in the first place. Everyone was here to drown their woes or throw a party, even though Hayate's motives were far beyond either of those things. He cocked his head to the side, gauging Sheldon's features as the man continued to speak of someone being killed in the bathroom towards the back.

Interestingly enough, Hayate knew that bathroom very well. Not that he was going to admit to it out loud, but any intelligent person who valued their own neck would not try to test fate to see whether or not the council here believed in chopping it off. With so many older beings on the council, Hayate recalled what it was once like centuries ago. A trial by jury was a lucky thing, but the jury was almost always on the opposite side than the one being tried. Hayate imagined listening in was as good as Sheldon made it out to be. After all, was that not the reason why he was here tonight? Hayate smiled slyly at the young man. "No doubt about that," he added, going for his glass to sip the flavorless wine.

The voluptuous woman's interruption was not unwelcome, and Hayate definitely took the time to appreciate the view of her breasts on the bar. His eyes lingered for a moment before rising to meet hers as she rebuked her co-worker. The corner of his mouth curled upward, and he glanced over at Sheldon. Hayate had placed his glass back down and pushed it aside out of the way, folding his arms and leaning forward as well. "Really?" he asked, sounding surprised to have heard it but still interested in their tale. "I haven't heard anything about that. How could someone wind up dead and not a word about it reaches the everyday people?"

His question was directed at both of them, but his eyes were clearly on Eliza. They both seemed convinced a very strong man had done it, and Hayate wondered what their qualifications were for judging strength in other people.

“Me? rumors? Nawh.”

Sheldon turned his body slightly to invite Eliza into the conversation. He was shameless when it came to sizing her up, his eyes inviting her to perhaps come to his place afterhours. Or her place always worked. He let a rather mischievous brow arch before he turned towards Hayate, a small chuckle within his throat. “I’m sure if you have been here many times, you have met Eliza.” and her breasts. It was tempting to say it out loud. The psychic was sure it was obvious that his eyes tended to fixate towards one of her very impressive assets.

What Eliza had stated was true. He was just rattling people’s chains. He was working at the Wine Bar when Simon met his fate but after the morbid deed was done he kept vomiting before he could get close enough to see what fully happened to Simon after the attack. He didn’t know if it was from being too drunk, or if the smell of death in a bathroom was just too overwhelming.

When Hayate asked why people didn’t know of Simon’s event he crossed his arms with an easy explanation. “If people go out in the daylight and speak freely of it, who knows what could happen. Maybe the wrong person could hear and whad’ya know. Another person ends up dead..another victim of a bloodsucker.” In Sheldon’s mind it was a vampire. Had to be. Something fangy of the sorts at least.

Eliza didn't mind it in the least when people admired her body. She lived by the rule 'if you have it, flaunt it', and she definitely had it. She smirked in Sheldon's direction, noticing that he was giving her an inviting look. Eliza arched a brow, and smiled at Hayate, noting that he too was keeping a close eye on her. She wondered if the two men would be up for a little group activity, and how much fun it would be for her to be in the middle of it.

She nodded in agreement with Sheldon's statement. Spreading information around could attract the wrong attention, but the two bartenders did it often. It came with the territory of their jobs, and most people didn't take it seriously anyway. "The Head Council doesn't want chaos brewing," she said in a conspiring tone of voice. "Can you imagine what people would do if they knew that a guy had been killed?" She placed her hands on her hips and shook her head. "They want to keep their haven as safe as possible, but what they don't know is the true nature of people."

Eliza gave a pointed look to both Sheldon and Hayate. "Some people are inherently dangerous, and violent. You can't tell just by looking at someone." She let out a rueful chuckle though, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "But then again, there are some of us who like that in a man, or men." She smirked to indicate herself, and let out a lilting laugh. Eliza was shameless, and if she was lucky (which she always was) both Sheldon and the man at the bar would want to try their luck with her.

"I've heard of her, but I can't say I've ever had the direct pleasure of meeting her," Hayate admitted in answer to Sheldon's question, his gaze remaining on Eliza and not moving over to Sheldon. Apparently, this was the sweet meat the wolf had been entertaining himself with lately. Hayate could not help but wonder what she tasted like, whether or not her blood was as sweet as her voice. Surely, it was doubtful. While gypsy blood was exotic, the woman looked to be tough and his estimation was not based on strength. A predator sized up its prey by the healthiness of its meat, and Hayate had questions about Eliza. She appeared to him tough and not tender, perhaps more acidic than sweet. Hayate had had enough woman to know how to measure by appearance alone who had the best blood to drink. Of course, that was no judgment upon her capabilities in bed.

He held his hand out to Eliza, letting his elbow rest on the bar's surface. A sweet but mischievous smile marked his lips as he spoke to her. "It's nice to finally meet you, Eliza," he said smoothly. If she was a witch, his magic would not work as well on her and she might know he was using it. Instead, he hoped he would not even need it. "Tell me, as many times as I have come here, why have I not spoken with someone as beautiful as you yet?" He was flirting with her openly in front of Sheldon, letting his other hand join theirs on the bar and trace a finger along the back of her hand. She was definitely a gorgeous woman. The vampire would not deny the fact.

They did have a conversation going on, so Hayate released her hand and turned his attention back to Sheldon. "I imagine they wouldn't like that, would they?" he said, replying to Eliza's statement regarding the Head Council. "Talk about a man getting killed is probably enough to scare anyone in this town. I can't say I'm surprised, though. I was wondering when this sort of thing would start happening. I mean, it's always been going on before they made this place. Did they think it would just stop?"

Sheldon gave somewhat of a trademark arch of the brow. It stated distaste for someone without saying a word. His face seemed to have a bit of a smile, but the statement of his brow nearly stated that he thought Hayate was a tosser. There was something about him he didn’t like. No, it was not the fact that in true forms he took better measures when it came to hitting on women. He just didn’t like him. It took him a moment before his trademark expression went away, friendliness appearing on his face all over again. Yes, Sheldon was unaffected. Act unaffected.

The psychic decided to throw in another deck of cars. Something he was used to as a gambler. Letting people not know what he would hand in next. “I don’t blame him. You know-the person who killed Simon.” He looked towards the both of them, leaning in to speak in between them.

“I would have killed him if I could have gotten away with it." Sheldon almost sounded like he meant he was capable of it, then he laughed. "He was an ass. However, I don’t have the strength to do so. Least not in the way he died. I'm no monster of sorts. I would have stabbed him but only in self defease. I couldn’t live with it if I did something like that intentionally. But I mean some..creep is walking around knowing what he did. It makes me kind of sick.”

Eliza was pretty observant when it came to the things that went on in the Wine Bar, but she didn't notice the look that Sheldon gave Hayate. She was too preoccupied with the way Hayate was flirting with her. It was always so nice when a patron of the Wine Bar responded to her advances in a positive way. It made the game all the more fun to play. "And it's nice to meet you," she said with a slight pause. "I'm sorry, but I don't know your name. And this is Sheldon," she said indicating to the other bartender. She cast the psychic a wink, and then released her hand from Hayate's just as he loosened his grip.

"Simon was an ass," Eliza said in agreement. "But he could drink like it was nobody's business. Not many people can take as much alcohol as he did, which makes me think he was a werewolf or something. He definitely had enhanced strength." Being a witch, Eliza had some detailed knowledge about the other species in the haven. It had been a part of her upbringing in the gypsy camps, and she continued to use the knowledge she learned back then.

She let out a short laugh, and kicked Sheldon playfully with her foot. "You would not have killed him," she said, tossing her hair over her shoulder. She leaned one elbow on the bar so she could look at both Hayate and Sheldon at the same time. "Our friend is right, though. It was foolish for the Head Council to think that violence would stop in a place like this. Death is an intricate part of life, and sometimes the dealers of death are the people who walk beside you on the street. You just never know."

Eliza shrugged her shoulders and sighed. "Don't know what's been going on lately, and I'm not sure I want to know. I only care about what goes on here in the Wine Bar, and I sure as hell don't want another dead body showing up any time soon."

"Hayate," he told Eliza, introducing himself only as he leaned back and sat more upright again. The conversation was taking an interesting route, though Hayate knew he would have to disagree with Sheldon out loud. "Well, he may not have been an upstanding citizen through and through, but does that really give anyone the right to kill him?" Hayate asked, arching an eyebrow at Sheldon. After all, if the principle applied to Simon, then it also applied to Hayate.

A little laugh escape the vampire at Sheldon's explanation of how he would kill Simon. Premeditated 'self-defense' was no better than outright murder, and Hayate found it amusing how Sheldon thought one was better than the other. "You would have killed him, but only in self-defense? Wouldn't anybody kill in self-defense? If you trying to protect yourself, I'd imagine you would do it against anyone and not any single person in particular." Singling out Simon as a number one priority was quite senseless in terms of self-defense. Hayate locked eyes with the young man and pointed his finger at him. "I'd kill you in self-defense. It doesn't mean I would kill you in general." He lowered his hand onto the bar. "See my point? And I like you," he said with a grin.

"I'll be watching my back, but that doesn't mean I won't go on with my business as usual. Maybe it was one of those accidental murders, and no one's stepped up to admit to it because they're too scared an angry mob will come after them with pitchforks and chop their head off." Hayate shrugged his shoulders, seemingly disinterested in carrying the conversation any further.

However, he easily turned his attention back onto Eliza. "Would you care to join me for a while?" he asked her, the flirting tone back in his voice. The vampire leaned forward, smiling with pearly whites that appeared perfectly human. "On the opposite side of the bar?"

One thing Sheldon hated about himself, was thinking people were suspicious but then having the downfall of being pissed off because they had a perfect quality about them. Sheldon viewed Hayate as suspicious. Something gave him a feeling that he had something off about him. Then again they were all talking about killing someone and who may have killed a certain someone they had no problem with killing.

He gave Hayate a displeased look as if stating something along the lines of ‘it wasn’t over’. To him Hayate may have been well with wordy challenges, but outside the bar he could kick his ass. In fact he was imagining it in his mind.

“I’m sad Hayate. I thought you liked me enough to stay.” He looked towards the floor, allowing a smug smile. “Go on, Eliza. I can handle it. Everyone’s drunk up here.” He managed to get out: “It was nice meeting you Hayate.” He almost said it in a mock sing song matter before he allowed himself to turn so he could raise a brow and lip in annoyance.

"It might've been accidental. They just left him in the bathroom. Any real vampire would have had some finesse with their killing." Eliza spoke as if she had some experience, and in truth she did. Gypsies were no strangers to the praeternatural world and its citizens, and Eliza was no exception. She had encountered vampires, werewolves, metahumans of every kind in her life even before she came to Elysium. She shrugged her shoulders, leaning on the bar to give Hayate a look at her chest again. She sighed deeply, and smiled.

"All I know is that I don't want any angry mobs anywhere. It's nice here, and it would be nice if it stayed that way. No matter how unlikely it is."

She stood back up, flipping her hair over her shoulder as Hayate extended his invitation to her. Eliza smirked, and then glanced at Sheldon when he said he'd cover her. "You're a doll, you know that?" She leaned in and kissed Sheldon on the cheek before she exited the area behind the bar. She sidled up to Hayate, a delicate hand on his shoulder to indicate she was ready for some private time, and whatever more Hayate had in mind.

It seemed as if Hayate took some offense to Eliza's comment. What did she know of vampires? The woman might have been a gypsy or a witch, but she did not know what it was like to be one of them or how they thought and operated outside of her world. An inviting smile found its way onto his face, though, and he kept up with his appearances. At least the woman looked for one thing and one thing in particular, and he had to hand it to her for that. A woman of her enjoyment and stature with a hint of class was hard to find these days, and even the vampire had to admire such a feature.

Hayate flashed a smile at Sheldon as Eliza rounded to the other side of the bar. "I like you," Hayate added, "but it doesn't mean I like you more than the lovely Eliza." He tipped a fake hat at Sheldon and removed himself from the bar, taking Eliza's waist with his hand. With that farewell to Sheldon, Hayate and barmaid disappeared among the crowd at The Wine Bar and out of Sheldon's sight.
