Who: Hayate and Aveira
When: Late at Night
Where: The Tiki Hut
What: A meeting between two not-so-normal vampires . . .

While the setting was not frame for frame like the pounding bass and flashing lights of the clubs he was used to occupying late at night in the city during his old life, the scene at The Tiki Hut caused flashes of remembrance to come back to the vampire. For the two settings were similar enough despite their differences, and the live music was fuller and easier to appreciate than the digital, perfected recordings of modern music. There were no flashing lights, but there were lights. Sheathed, bulbous lamps hanging from the ceiling of the roof over the open dance floor emitted dim light, each a different color of spectrum. The chilly breeze from the lake wafted up to the open dance floor, cooling off its many dancers packed so closely together they brushed against complete strangers and thought little of it.

The bar was close by to the dance floor, as was a small restaurant. All three were open to the elements, lacking walls to enclose them. Having lost most of his interest in The Wine Bar, Hayate found himself intrigued by this new setting established for Elysium's residents. A bar, club, and restaurant all rolled into one and located on the beach. It reminded him of collegiate hangouts. Quite frankly, it was a frat boy's wet dream.

Though he normally kept his appearance in casual disorder or respectable smoothness, he chose a look that leaned in the opposite direction for his venture into the new establishment. His hair was a messy twist of slightly separated locks, the bleach blond color more noticeable with his dark roots showing on purpose for contrast. He wore completely black in the form of slacks and long sleeves to cover himself against the cold air. Not that he really needed the protection, being a naturally cold creature, but sometimes even he could feel a shiver due to the weather.

Hayate sidled easily through the crowd, his keen and observant eyes absorbing everything around him. As far as he was concerned, he was keeping his distance from others and promoting a sense of singular self. So many others danced with partners, connected to somebody's hip or everybody's hips. Hayate seemed more a preying creature amongst the fold, his eyes on everyone and no one. He headed towards a small bar set up right beside the dance floor for the night, nowhere near the size or impressiveness as the main bar, and relaxed upon one of the stools. His arm propped itself upon the bar, his eyes scanning the crowd and gleaming in the dim lights brighter than all the rest.

He was here to watch, and there was a devious quality to his expression and appearance. Even his posture spoke of something else: the detached sense of a predator. Someone who was sure of himself and his position, and he did not need anyone to tell him what he was — he knew.

Glancing up, Hayate's eyes locked with someone else's through a sea of faces. For some reason, she stood out to him and caught his attention.

It wasn’t that Aveira didn’t care for the Wine Bar anymore. But it seemed that the vibe she picked up from the location was far less interesting than the Tiki Hut. At the Wine Bar, people were stuck in their tiny world of depression and washed it away with a bottle of whiskey. They thought about home, the dead bodies they may have seen and loved ones. Sometimes she would observe a person at the bar speaking to the neighboring person with the same issue and they would end up either being friends or just having that one conversation. There would be piano playing at times and the conversations besides brooding would then be perhaps someone tying to pick up a date. Sometimes there was a tiny casual date already set in motion. She had a tendency to sit at the bar and wonder what people were thinking, what they were going through.

Aveira wanted something more exciting when going out. Sitting at the Wine Bar and guessing people’s personal stories and relaxing was starting to bother her. Severely. She was kind of the night feline type of girl in need of prowling about the town for something fun. It wasn’t New York City where clubs were as easy to find as anything else. But it didn’t matter. The Tiki Hut would do. She heard the music and she was drawn to it.

The Tiki Hut’s music wasn’t like her favorite clubs where the music was so insanely loud and alive you felt mental if you didn’t get up and dance. It didn’t matter if you could or not. For that one night you’d just dance because you knew you wouldn’t recall it the next day anyways. She missed that. She missed meeting strangers who would live a little. Live with today and fuck whatever happened the next day. When you work for the FBI, it’s the hard core version of a good motto.

The vampire weaved in and out of the dancing bodies dressed in jeans and a casual shirt. She sometimes looked up to if any of the faces she saw caught her eye as someone that held what she longed for. Aveira just longed for someone who maybe could relate. This was a new place. Your name meant nothing anymore. What was the chance of meeting someone who knew you here? Even so, what was going to happen if they knew your ‘sins’ before all hell broke loose?

But no, everyone had such a boring glint to their eyes as some danced so close to one another they were almost the same skin. Was everybody here so damn boring? Was she just going to be ordering a set of drinks and smoking until she signs of the sun rising? Aveira was beginning to see signs of a very boring life. Then someone caught her eye.

She knew a lot about eye contact. Even a millisecond of eye contact could reveal something very interesting. Lying, cheating, envy, interest..Aveira was very interested. Though bodies kept dancing in some odd offbeat rhythmic motion to the music and kept blocking full view of the stranger, Aveira fully glanced back at him. After a few moments she smoothly walked to the bar and sat beside him. She turned to speak to him, first carefully taking in his appearance. So a very good looking man who seemed to just fit in to the setting? This was look promising. Good way to to start the conversation was to just assume he had been here before. He did indeed look familiar.

“Do you frequent this place?” Aveira asked calmly, her gaze still the same from the moment she saw him.

Instead of avoiding his gaze, the woman had returned it with every bit as much interest in her glimmering eyes. He refused to break eye contact with her, noticing almost immediately how her body language held a quiet grace to it so subtle a human eye could not focus on it. He saw it and knew she was not human, and it amplified his curiosity in her. Thoughts began to shift inside of his head, drowning out the music with questions about who she was and what she was — the way she moved clearly struck of something other than human, even if it was not a learned behavior. One did not have learn how to move like a vampire, for instance; it came naturally to the muscles as if they had always moved with such an elegance and it was nothing new to the body.

His head tilted to the side once he detected her sway through the crowd was leading her to the bar and towards his corner. He could not deny she was a very beautiful woman, but he doubted she came here hunting for men. A woman did not visit a setting like this dressed in a normal t-shirt and jeans in search for their preferred sex in order to fill their needs for attention. With only jeans and casual shirt, she was still vibrant within the guise of simplicity, but whatever drove her here tonight was something beyond the acts of the those practically molding into one entity on the dance floor without a care in the world.

She sat beside him, and Hayate turned his head to look at her without shifting to face her fully. Despite the casual disinterest he seemed to exude, he knew this close she would be able to sense he was anything but bored.

"I have to admit this is my first time being here," he admitted. He let the glamour fall away from his fangs to reveal the sharp canines when he spoke next. Perhaps it would get a fair reaction out of her. "Hayate," he introduced himself, fangs glimmering in the faded lights. His eyebrows raised very slightly, his chin lifting a small fraction as he addressed her with a question or two of his own. "What's your name?" Simple enough, and to the point. "Do you come here often?" The final question held a hint of teasing in it, and it showed in his eyes as they suddenly sparkled with the mischief echoed in his voice as well.

For just one moment Aveira showed a sign of surprise when she saw the stranger’s fangs, but then her brows arched and her lush lips formed into a smile. “I was beginning to wonder when I would meet another one.” She let her statement linger before she took a long look at him to take an educated guess about he stranger. “But I’m thinking you have had much more experience than I have.” She looked down at an empty glass, left by someone who already had a good time. “Bit of an amateur, newbie whatever you may call me.”

“My name is Aveira. I’m starting to believe I will be pleased to meet you.” There was a playful glint to her eye and she chuckled a bit, a million questions circulating about the stranger. “First time is a charm with this place. You underestimate this place until you actually meet someone or actually take the time to sit and observe.”

So a smile came to her lips when he asked why she was here and a mischievous look returned towards Hayate. “Why Hayate, I am here to observe.”

His eyes caught the sight of her own fangs as she spoke, and it solidified what made her so different from the rest of the bodies throwing themselves around on the dance floor. It was certainly interesting for him. He had met another vampire before, but their encounter had not gone as planned and he never sought her out again. She was an odd sort of vampire with a rare condition which gave her skin a pale coloring, her hair a pure white, and her eyes a icy blue stare. The woman was a little bit insane in his opinion, but she was nowhere near as insane as Hayate. He was rather proud of that.

"Well," Hayate said slowly, "it's good you met me, then." He offered her a smile that was definitely genuine. He looked ahead again at the dancing crowd, tilting his head back somewhat as he watched then idly. "I've been around for a while," he answered, and there was no a hint of arrogance in his voice, just simple truth. He glanced over, his lips quirked upward at the corner as she called herself a 'newbie.'

"In that case, I'm very please to have met you, Aveira," Hayate told her after she had introduced herself. Perhaps they would get along just fine. More so than he had with that other vampire. He nodded his head at what she said next and found himself laughing just a moment afterwards as she answered his question playfully.

"Well, now," Hayate teased, "observation by itself is no fun. You have to get involved to really feel the affects of this place." Part of him wondered if he could lure someone away from here and feed off of them. Another part of him wondered if Aveira would join in as well.

Aveira did not know what her encounter with a vampire would have been like should it not have been for Hayate. In the movies they were either an alliance or they fought because vampires were all for their own. Not to mention she believed they dictated who became a vampire and who was simply a meal for them. She couldn’t say if she knew it was considered a ‘worthy’ thing of the sorts. She just knew that she was certain there were much more positives to being a vampire than she gave the species. Hayate sure didn’t seem to be living life in the gray. He was knowledgeable, inviting and pleasant to talk to.

The vampire turned towards Hayate and listened to him intently. She thought very much the same as far as observing. She was one to get very antsy if she had to keep her hands behind her back and watch events unfold without her having any psychical or verbal say in it. What was the point of only using sight when so many other senses could be involved?

“I agree in getting involved with things. But sometimes you fear that if you aren’t careful, you aren’t sure on how the events will unfold afterwards.” She raised her thin eyebrow up. “However, consequences can be a very fun thing o have to worry about. The feeling that settles in your gut can add a thrill..if the involvement you wish to seek is perhaps dangerous.”

She then turned back to the crowd for a moment. If anything, more people seemed to have flooded in for perhaps a moment of conversation before they fetched a drink and would return to the dance floor with a drink in hand.

Hayate might have had his preferences on who made a good meal to him — which was all based on personal tastes, anyway — but when it came to changing someone, it was honestly never a thought that crossed his mind. The vampire was not intent on making other vampires, nor having the kind run amuck in Elysium. He liked being one of the few. It was how the tide should flow; too many vampires unbalanced the position between the humans. There should always be more antelope than lions.

He smiled at her answer. If her current attitude was anything to go by, the young vampire definitely had the stomach for being what she was now. Of course, though he knew not the circumstances surrounding her alteration, both of them were not given a chance. What they were now had been forced upon them. Perhaps, somewhere inside, they could relate.

“I like you,” Hayate said honestly, slowly nodding his head. He glanced over at Aveira. He raised a single eyebrow. “I don’t like many people,” the vampire added with a small smile on his face. It seemed a number of people flooded the bar for a moment. He waited for the moment to pass before he picked his next move. It would be a bold one, that was for sure, but it would have to wait.

Aveira was beginning to realize that she used to fear what people thought of her when they saw her fangs since she could not glamour herself as of yet. But now she was learning that perhaps getting reactions from people might be somewhat of an interesting thing. She could get the chance to see the prejudice, see the acceptance. Staring into a crowd of numerous people you do not know could really make you think about what you have become and what path you wish to go towards with this new ‘person’ you have become.

“I like you too.” She responded to Hayate. “I am flattered that I am among the few you tend to care for.” She drew her fairly sharp index nail along the lines of the table. “I’m quite the same. I am picky with who I actually trust enough to consider a friend. I’m social, but that doesn’t mean I like everyone. I have been trained professionally to like everyone.” The vampire stated honestly. “Of course I liked the people worthy of caring and my liking. But otherwise, I am picky towards who I like.”

Aveira liked how there was something very hard to figure out about Hayate. It certainly started out with how old he was. Lastly it ended with what his intentions were. “How long have you been vampire?” She asked carefully. “It’s only been months for me.” She said her next words in a way where Hayate could take it any way he wished. “And I have a lot to learn.” It was low, sultry and dark. It wasn’t saddened in a way that led towards that Aveira felt she was below the ranks of a vampire. Maybe she wanted to see ‘how it was rightfully done’.

Tonight had to have been a little too soon. Something told Hayate he needed to be more careful. Of course, that did not mean he disliked the woman. On the contrary, he meant what he said. She was a very interesting person, and Hayate imagined getting to know her better would definitely be to his advantage. Perhaps he should put some time between them, and see whether or not she ever decided to seek him out herself. Hayate liked to test people. He enjoyed finding out how far their limits reached. This could be a good test to see if she was really interested in anything he had to say.

He smiled somewhat at her inquiry of his age. "Perhaps that is something I can share with you another time," he mentioned. Hayate leaned in towards Aveira, matching up his eyes with her gaze. "If you ever want to find out, come seek me." Hayate leaned away in his seat. "Maybe then we can really get to know each other." There was a soft smile playing on his lips.

Last, but not least, she needed to know how to find him. "If you choose yes," the vampire informed her, "then you can find me at the cafe or the wine bar. Just ask for Hayate."

With that, he got up from the bar and strolled off into the crowd to the leave the woman by herself. He would let her mull over her thoughts and make a decision. If she really wanted to know what sort of vampire he was, she would seek him out. He knew that much as he left the establishment, the dull but colorful lights of The Tiki Hut fading away behind him.
