Who: Sheldon, Caden and Dione
When: Night
Where: The Winebar
What: Best friends have a chat

“Eliza, a whiskey for the wanker in the blue?” Sheldon asked her with a cheeky smile on his face. Of course his manners left much to be desired, but he was treated like utter shit sometimes. So he gave the people names in the wine bar. Some were actually nice. It all depended.

For Sheldon the wine bar was in a different view. He wasn’t the lonely drinker. He wasn’t the man who was trying to get a woman to come home with him or anything of that matter. Sheldon was one of the bartenders. In fact he was one hell of a bartender. He went to school for it, so why not put it to use in a place that had a decent bar?

The Psychic turned to the next person who wished to get drunk, or perhaps just socialize and drink casually. Maybe they were waiting for someone, maybe they wanted someone to be waiting for them. It didn’t matter. Sometimes people just liked talking to Sheldon. Though usually they were depressed, wanted to work him up for a fight, or they were drunk as hell. Sometimes there were good occasions.

“What can I get you?” He asked.

"A Fuzzy Navel and my favourite mug. You stole it, Shelly," said Caden, tearing off a little piece of his paper napkin and crumpling it into a ball to flick at his friend. He never minded having a drink and hell, if he could playfully annoy Sheldon at the same time while he was working, all the better. Let him not forget to check out all the attractive women around the place as well. He may have been sweet on a certain Faun, but he was a man with eyes and quite active parts so it was not something he could stop himself from doing.

He was probably a sissy for choosing such a girly drink, but his sweet tooth was more demanding than his need for getting drunk. Besides, the Aussie didn't need alcohol to make him act any crazier than he did most of the time. "I tried to drink hot chocolate in my 'Lucky Duck' mug and it completely ruined the flavor." He leaned on the counter and started to fold the napkin into a paper airplane - though he doubted it would fly at all. "Anyway, how's it going with you? Have you had to comfort any beautiful crying girls or something? I need details, man, details!" The only girls he'd had any contact with lately besides his sisters were immobile in picture form and ultimately not as stimulating.

"If you have, you can probably send them over in Fally's direction. He's practically a comfort teddy bear for women running on nicotine," Caden mused. "I could offer my flute-playing services, but you know, the instrument only gets me so far." Damn people and their playing guitars of alluring sexiness! He broke out of his thoughts then to look at his friend again. "You know, my catapult ride is sounding more and more tempting by the day. I just don't know if I can get people interested in it or willing to help me build it. You'd help me, won't you, mate? You're so an 'extreme rides' man, I know you are."

Sheldon’s expression turned into a growingly wide grin and he leaned over the table with a heaving nose to hug his companion. He almost knocked over people's bottles and glasses in the process. “Come here ya batsard!” Of course he meant that in the best of mannerisms, it was his best friend! He hugged Caden for another moment then slid back to the back of the bar table, folding his arms. “I can’t believe we haven’t talked yet and we pretty much live in the same residence. I just think we come and go at different times. God how have you been!?”

Back home was different. Sheldon had better luck with women so he let out an amused laugh. “I never was a Casanova, but here my luck is even worse.” He admitted with a sigh. “I did meet a girl at the library, sweet little thing.” He was yelled at by some customer. “I’m coming!” He turned towards Caden. “God that guy is such a tosser.” He continued what he was saying. “But I’d never presue her. She doesn’t speak English..but..that’s not why.”

He immediately changed the subject and went to Caden. “God you nerd! What about you!?” He snorted when he talked of Adair. “Yeah, yer right. I have yet to have a heart to heart with that man. He was a goner for a while. Now I see him here and there.”

Sheldon did love extreme rides and the idea did spark some interest. “Hell man. Count me in.” He hit his best friend with a washcloth. “Shut up, you have your way with the ladies. You can just be ignorant to it.” He grinned towards Caden, then gave a funny face. "So..you acually want coco? I might be able to do that."

Caden laughed as Sheldon leaned over to give him a hug and thumped his friend heartily on the back in return. "Nice to see you too!" he said and then he grinned. It was a shame that the two hadn't spoke yet, but better late than never! "Well, these things happen. We're busy men! But I hope we can make more time for each other in the future, yeah? It wouldn't be right otherwise." He wiggled his eyebrows briefly at Sheldon's question. "Oh, I've been good. Quite good." That should be enough to pique Sheldon's interest, but if not, he was always happy to babble some more.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. Either there are hardly any of them around or their parents bias them against humans or what have you." Caden smirked at Sheldon. "I wouldn't worry about you, what with your killer charming smile. I saw how it worked with those girls at the club we went to. Any more into you and they'd be rubbing themselves against your legs. Practically were already." Yeah, he was just a little envious. He perked up at hearing his friend met a sweet girl at the library. "Ah, the quiet type, yeah? Or just too sweet and innocent for you to put the moves on her?" Ath Dara hadn't really seemed comfortable with him flirting, he thought idly.

Caden leaned on the table a little more. "There is someone... Fucking sexy, but I'm pretty much doomed to being the secret friend in the background. She's a Faun, and her parents don't like humans." And if he couldn't get along with her parents, he basically had no chance of anything happening. "But yeah, you need to meet up with him at some point. I'm sure you miss the imp." He grinned.

Oh yeah, Sheldon to the rescue! "You're my fucking hero. Seriously, it's going to be sweet." He snickered at Sheldon's reassurance - he appreciated it, really. "Yeah, yeah, I know you're trying to cheer me up. And you can serve me cocoa in bed later. Right now I want me some booze. Give me your special." Caden rubbed his hands excitedly in preparation. It was really nice having a best friend for a bartender.

After the first time, Dione couldn't quite resist the lure of having music available to her. She didn't have a piano in her bungalow, but she knew where to find one: the wine bar. She and Dexter had talked at length about the place they had gone to and the fact that it was in fact a bar...as in a place where alcohol was served and people had a tendency to not only not care for classical music but tended toward becoming rather drunk and rambuncious.

Did that dampen her wish to go back and play more? Not really, though it did make her a bit more cautious. So when she came back, tapping her way from the door toward the piano itself, she was slow and trying not to draw attention to herself. Did it even occur to her that the bartender or any of the waitresses might remember her from the other night when she had played with that other man? No, it didn't really occur to her, probably because she didn't have enough self-esteem to think that anyone would actually mark her face. Or her walk. Or the fact that she moved with a slow almost dancing motion and a cane.

One of the patrons noticed her apparently and stopped in her way. She ended up tapping his shoes before she actually got close enough to touch him with her hands. She didn't make the pretense of looking at him, but simply seemed more interested in going around him. "Aren't you going to say anything," he said to her.

"I'm sorry, I thought you were a table," she said without missing a beat and continued to move in the direction that she wanted to go. He could only stand there with a dumbfounded look on his face as she settled herself on the piano bench. Without further ado, she began to play but rather than something truly soft, she launched into Beethoven's Fifth.

Sheldon was currently ignoring a customer nearby, elbows propped on the table when he began to hear the sound of the piano in the winebar being played. Sometimes people fiddled around with it, maybe pressing a few keys when drunk or perhaps bored. But this was genuine, beautiful playing. The type he could listen to and not tire of. The person had impressive skill indeed.

He carefully walked towards the piano to watch the attractive woman play, watch her fingers not miss a note. Sheldon folded his arms and leaned against the piano nearby. He spoke up above the music but didn’t want to scare her. “Do you usually play here?” he asked in a polite tone. “Or am I to drunk to ever hear you play so well by the time I leave here?”

Seemed like Sheldon might have it bad for library girl, but Caden needed more information before he could make a real assessment. He nodded and stroked his chin like he was stroking a beard evilly in contemplation. "I see. I think it's hard to fancy a woman you find 'too sweet,' you know? It doesn't seem right unless you lust over them a bit or something." He smirked at Sheldon. "I definitely have to meet this chick you're sweet on." Why did he need to get drunk? Caden raised an eyebrow (yes he perfected the move), bemused. "It's not pathetic. And don't be looking at my sisters for your feeling better screw, okay? I've had to deal with enough chatter over how incredibly hot these two men are already from Cara-Jane."

He didn't really like the startled reaction the other man gave him. "What's wrong with that?" he asked with a momentary frown and actually looked embarrassed at his best friend's question. "I thought about that, but I don't really want to jump the gun by thinking too far ahead." After all, it wasn't definite that anything would happen between him and Ath Dara. He nodded as Sheldon told him that he'd be right back with a beer and didn't have to wait for very long. "Thanks, mate." Sheldon could say that in theory, but in practice, Caden thought that Ath Dara held her family's opinion in high regard. "I don't know, man. I don't want to put her in an awkward position or cause any trouble for her." Yes, his first priority was her feelings.

Caden downed his drink in practically one gulp and followed Sheldon to the piano where an attractive brunette was playing. He, however, was not as polite as his best friend. "Hey, can you play the X-Files theme song? That'd be brill!" he said. "Or maybe the Brady Bunch theme. I can actually play it." He grinned at her. "May I?" Caden slid onto the bench besides her and started to play the theme song - the result of one of his sister's teachings, because he'd pestered her into it. "The other song in my repetoire is 'A Whole New World.' Yeah, lame, but my sister loves Aladdin."

"I don't know," she answered Sheldon without making the pretense of looking up. "Are you the drunk type?" Dione didn't mention that she had only been in the wine bar once so far and thus it was quite possible that he hadn't even been there the first time that she had come in and played there. Besides, if he had been, it would have been pretty obvious as she had played a duet with someone else during that time. However, she remembered the place being significantly less crowded and loud.

Then came the second of her unscheduled interruptions and she did actually look up at this one who was rattling on about television theme music. Now, of course, she did know the music in question. She could play most everything that she had ever heard with any regularity. As television shows played the same music week after week it became very easy to become familiar with the notes.

He asked permission and just proceeded to take over, which made her fold her hands in her lap as she did know the song but didn't want to overshadow his performance. It was only polite that she not show up another player. If he was talking about being interested in playing theme music, then he probably wasn't on the same level with her. After all, theme music was child's play. And Disney music not much better, though she knew most of those as well.

"The last time I played 'A Whole New World' was for a review of Disney Classics done by the symphony," there was a slight smile on the edge of her lips. "Would you like to hear another song, perhaps one you don't play as well?"

Caden only continued to play for half a minute longer because he received annoyed looks from a couple of the patrons. Bastards, he thought and was tempted to flip them off, but that wasn't very polite of him to do in front of a lady. As an Australian, he had a duty to uphold his country's honor and he intended to do so. He got to his feet then and relinquished the piano to her. "I guess the piano playing should stick to you. Apparently the other blokes like seeing a pretty woman playing instead of a beak-nosed rapscallion." He just liked saying the word and it was a fair description of him, after all.

Well then, she was Little Miss Symphony, wasn't she? "They were undoubtedly impressed," he said and jokingly exaggerated stroking his chin. Ah, so many choices, so what to choose, what to choose? "Let's go with Bach. He seems to be a popular man." He leaned against the piano and waited for her to start playing. "Or whatever you want, I'm fine with anything." It hardly took a genius to see how much she enjoyed playing and he was better off letting her do whatever she wanted.

She chuckled at the compliment. "Pretty," she said it like she didn't believe it, which was the truth. She didn't believe that she was pretty. Striking, yes, but that was mostly the eyes. But pretty, she wasn't quite that. Not in her estimation. "Well, I appreciate that you think so." When he got up from the piano, she reached up again, stroking the keys as she listened.

"Bach," she tilted her head as if listening to something for a moment before she started to play his piano concerto in D minor. Not exactly one of her favorites, but she knew that piece of music backward and forward. Her fingers flitted across the keys like small birds, each note perfect, precise, and oddly poetic. Considering that she didn't even look at the piano, just stared forward, eyes seeming oddly fixed. "I hate Bach," she stopped with an empathetic note. "I'd rather play something fun."

With that she started to play Boogie Woogie on the piano.

It seemed as though she needed reassurance that she was pretty and Caden wondered if he happened to be secretly drawn to the innocent type and not realise it. What to say? "Yes, pretty." The compliment went well, as well as it could when she brushed it off like that and he decided to let it rest there. He might have flirted, but it feel right with Sheldon watching and she appeared to be above flirting or something. Not to mention he sucked at flirting. Caden nodded as she started to play a piece by Bach and was impressed by how easily she played it.

Wait, something fun? His eyebrows shot upwards as she suddenly changed the tune. He knew that song. "I thought you were the type who preferred classical sort of music," he admitted, before starting to snap his fingers to the beat. This he could handle and was definitely more of a bar tune. "Is that one of your favorite songs?" Favorite songs could tell a good deal about a person and it was always fun to compare them, he found. It also happened to be an awesome conversation ice breaker and Caden could never help becoming even more excited with talking about music. "A lot of the songs I like can't be played on the piano," he added.

Dione could play Bach with her eyes closed. That was natural, she was blind. So now she played with her eyes open and still not looking at the keys. However, her poor mood from earlier had only been minutely improved by her conversation with Idehr. She was still stuck dealing with her twin who was making a point of letting his displeasure be known as much as possible. Leading to her walking away from him yet again. After all, she had every right to indulge or end any conversation that she felt she wished to. Unfortunately, that meant that whenever she went back to it, he also had the fact that she had walked away from him in the first place to deal with.

It was definitely a more bar sounding tune. One of several that she knew. She also knew several good drinking songs, even if she couldn't actually sing the words without blushing all the way down her neck. "Why would you think that?" She did tend to like classical music a great deal, but that didn't keep her from playing other things and enjoying them. "No, not a favorite, just a song that's got more bounce to it." She tilted to play all the way down on one end very quickly. "There isn't a song made that cannot be played on the piano. You just have to learn to adapt them correctly." Or so one of her teachers had assured her over the years. Music didn't really care the instrument upon which it was played. Music was quite simply music and one could move it from instrument to instrument if you had the know how.

All said without missing a note as she played her way through the song a second time and started to pick up speed.

He had a feeling that he probably should phrase the next sentences he said carefully so as not to offend her. Generally, he hoped that people knew that he meant no harm from being in his company. A moment to think of an answer to her question proved to be enough to find something. "There's something about the way you carry yourself, makes you seem a bit proper or something," he said and hoped she didn't mind. Also, any song that was upbeat was definitely better than slow ballads. They were okay if someone wanted to be mushy or seductive, he supposed.

"So are you saying you like all kinds of music?" If any song could apply to that rule... He had no idea about rap music, though the songs had a chance for being converted as well. "There are some that are just odd. I'm not a fan of heavy metal in general." Screaming unintelligbly? Yeah, he could just spend an evening with his sisters being excited about a new album from their favorite band if he wanted that. They were very enthusiastic, needless to say. It obviously ran in the family. Caden liked all sorts of instruments and he thought that music should always be as fun as possible. It could be meaningful or so on for other people, but it wasn't as good unless he could dance to a song.

"I'm not even sure if that's a compliment or you telling me that I appear stuck up," it really could go either way depending on how she wanted to react to it. At the moment, if he thought she was stuck up, she could only care a little less than she did. It was a bit wounding to think that someone who had barely even spoken to her saw her as stuck up. Unfortunately, one cannot undo first impressions. Thus it would certainly be better for her own minor ego if she took it as a compliment to the appearance of propriety that she projected around her. Still, she didn't turn to talk, just kept looking forward and moving with the piano but she didn't turn her head to talk to him. After ten years, she had gotten rather used to the idea that she wasn't going to see anything, thus, why worry about turning her head in that direction.

"I love music. It's the only thing in my life that doesn't seem to abandon me." More information in one sentence than some total stranger wanted to know, but he'd asked and she'd given him an answer. So what if it was a little odd? "Did you know that you could play heavy metal on a cello? It's really very lovely. I find that I really do love the renditions of songs on different instruments."

Boogie Woogie was coming to an end, one could only play it so many times before it simply became too difficult to play anymore. Still, she could get through the song a total of four times before it became too fast. "If you really want me to play a Disney song I can," that was essentially her saying that she would take requests.

"I'm not saying you're stuck up. Are you?" He glanced at her and smiled in the hope that she wouldn't take offense from his statement. There was something odd about her that made him hesitate and he realised now from the way she didn't quite look at him that she was unable to see. Interesting. "Look, what I said came out wrong." It was just the whole piano thing that sent him a little off. Musch happened to be one of his favorite things in the world and not only because he played the flute. In that respect, he and Dione differed, though he could see it from her point of view. He told her that he was all right and left it up to her to choose which song she liked best to play and bid her farewell as he figured it was time for him to leave soon. There were other things he wanted to accomplish today, however, he was sure that he would see her again.
