What: BOO! Says the Panda!

Umeko was feeling mischievous! She didn’t even know why. It was like she woke up (of course late, the lazy bum always overslept) and was hit with a devious stick. She dressed in pajama shorts and a tank top and stood outside for a moment, stretching out her muscles. What could she possibly do to cause a little havoc? She wasn’t one for being too troublesome, she just wanted to maybe spook someone, or maybe even-

“AH-HA!” she nearly screamed, then covered her mouth. She shouldn’t give out her master plan! Oh, and to her this was one hell of a plan. She ran down the road, dressed in pajamas and everything.

Transforming into a panda luckily didn’t hurt. It just felt strange feeling muscles, bones and teeth shift. This of course even felt weirder when running. She made sure to swing off into the bushes so no one saw her. Her destination was Helicharis and she didn’t want to be detected until then.

When Umeko reached the main road, she searched for a sturdy tree that could hold her weight. When she found one she carefully climbed to its very top and hid behind a set of leaves that shielded most of her body. For the sake of curiosity, she tried eating a leaf. She made a face. Gross! How did animals do that? Tasted like, well she didn’t know what!

Umeko had to forget her silly attempt to eat a leaf and had to focus on the grounds below. Her prank: She was going to jump in front of whoever was going to pass by! She couldn’t wait!

Nico was serious about getting back into shape. He had spent far too long sitting around like a bum these days, and the more he thought about it, the more annoyed he became. He had been spending a lot of his time around the training terrace and the combat gym, and if he wasn't there he was out on the roads jogging. The activity made the young man feel alive, and he was starting to feel more like himself than he had in months. He made a mental note to go out camping with Zach sometime; he and his best friend hadn't done anything fun in ages! Well, mostly because the only thing that Zach had been doing lately was Adrienne.

Nico wasn't the type to turn down sex, so he couldn't imagine why Zach would either. He didn't hold it against his best friend, but he would have to drag the poor alchemist away from his permanent booty call for some quality guy time. Unfortunately, quality guy time wasn't today and Nico was all alone as he jogged down the main road leading toward the town. He was oblivious to his surroundings, so focused on his task at hand. Not that jogging was hard, or required concentration; Nico just had to focus otherwise he would become bored with it. Sometimes the sprite would even start to hum songs while he jogged; it was the only option considering the lack of electricity that was needed to charge up his MP3 player.

Yes, Nico was oblivious to everything else around him. As far as he was concerned, the only things that existed in the world were him and the road beneath his feet. Nope, nothing else existed in the world, not even the big panda bear that was waiting in the tree nearby.

Oh well what did she have here? A jogger? It was one thing to have someone who was walking, but someone who was jogging? Would they have time to stop themselves, or would the giant panda become their new road block they just happened to trip over? Speaking of trip, the whole thing would at first feel like an acid trip she bet. I mean..a panda? Just suddenly appearing before you on a jog? Maybe the person could be suffering from dehydration? Could it be your eyes are blurring? Oh, they could be going crazy! When nawh, Umeko was just being bad.

She waited until he was just a few feet away and-PLOP! Like a raindrop coming from the sky she fell from the tree and landed on her stomach right in front of the jogger. It didn’t hurt. She did it once by accident and it did hurt. Then she did it enough times for it to be an art. Falling from a tree was way better than just poking out from behind a tree and saying boo.

Umeko lay there for a few moments like she was injured. She was motionless, like she injured herself unconscious. She made sure that her face looked innocent and sad. Poor, poor panda.

She couldn’t wait until the real scaring took place. The fall was just the beginning.

There were a lot of things in Elysium, things that Nico had never seen before in his life, and he continuously found himself amazed by all of it. A lot of things happened in Elysium as well, things that became normal when in the past they were unusual. But pandas falling out of the sky? That was something that he had not expected.

"Christ on a cracker, what the hell is that!" He said out loud as he stumbled backward, falling onto his butt in the middle of the road. He stared at the motionless animal, blinking at it once or twice before he realized that it was a panda. A real live panda. He had only ever seen them in zoos, and on tv, but never had he been so close to one before. He had to admit, pandas were awfully cute, and if this one hadn't just appeared out of nowhere he might have had an urge to go up and hug it.

But he didn't at the moment. He was still too shocked by the falling panda to do anything other than just sit there, and stare at it. After a few more minutes, Nico stood to his feet, and dusted himself off. He took a step toward the panda, then another, before he was content with just standing there to examine it. If this was a panda, and it was injured, there was no telling what it would do if a person went up to it. Injured animals were always hard to predict, and Nico wasn't going to take any chances.

The sprite stood there, one hand on his waist while his other hand reached up to scratch the back of his head. He didn't know what to do, but there was some sort of moral imperative that told him he at least had to help the poor creature. "Hey," he said out loud before he looked up and down the road for any other citizens. He didn't want anyone to think he was crazy for trying to 'talk' a panda awake.

"Hey panda!" He said it a little louder this time, and took another step toward the animal. "Panda! Wake up!" Nico looked to the side of the road, and saw a reasonably sized stick not too far from him. He moved to pick it up, and then used it to poke at the panda. "Panda... psst! Wake up, will ya!"

The Christ on the cracker comment almost made Umeko give herself away. Man, that was a funny one! The girl was going to have to write that one down. She was almost gone. A chuckling noise was almost released but instead she managed to stay quiet. So far this was going as planned. No way in hell was this going to be ruined. The panda-shifter had to close her eyes tight in order to keep her cool. She also had to limit her breathing, making it look like her life was close to an end. It would make her scaring a lot more effective.

When she knew the stranger was very close, she made a loud BOO noise straight from the chest. For a panda that was like a roar, the loudest they could muster from their lungs. Umeko made it last as long as her lungs could tolerate, then rolled in the road with laughter. Well, what in her mind sounded like laughter. In panda form it may have sounded similar to a dolphin. It was like distorted barking.

The 'boo' scared the crap out of Nico. He jumped back from the fallen panda, his eyes wide as he held his stick in front of him in defense. "Holy fuckin' shit, what the hell was that!" He yelled out loud at the roar. It was loud, and scary sounding. Nico had never heard any panda on tv or anything making noises like this, so naturally he was very startled.

But then the animal started to roll around in the road, a loud chuffing sound coming from its throat. It almost sounded like - well it sounded like it was laughing at him. Nico narrowed his eyes, and threw the stick to the wayside. He concluded that this wasn't an ordinary panda (especially since Elysium wouldn't have had any real pandas), and that it must have been some praeternatural who could turn into one. It was sneaky, but Nico was never one to disrespect a good prank. He couldn't just let it go, of course. Oh no, a prank like that demanded something similar in return.

Taking a deep breath, Nico put on a bright smile and a childish grin. "PANDA!" He said out loud before he ran toward the animal to effectively glomp it. His arms hugged the panda, hands burying into the soft fur. "Oh Panda! You're alive!!!"

Umeko grinned from ear to ear when she realized she had successfully completed her ‘mission’. Man, she thought she had it made. She would slither away like a big fat snake and this guy would have watch where he was jogging from now on. She wished he could see the growing water in her eyes because she was laughing so hard, her chest aching. Umeko wished she could tell him about the look on his face. It was so classic. But for now all she could do was point and laugh.

When the stranger glomped her, she was surprised but she didn’t shrug him off. I mean as a panda she knew she was cute. Chubby-wubby little things that look like life sized stuffed animals waiting to be taken home. She wrapped both her hands around his back and literally gave him a ‘bear hug’. How is that for an Elysium story? Not everyone gets scared AND glomped back by a giant panda.

Nico expected some sort of response back from the panda. Maybe a growl, or a startled yip and POOF!, the panda would turn back into a person. Then the jig would be up, and Nico would be the victor. Out of all the possible things that could have happened in that moment, Nico did not expect the panda to hug him back. Its large arms wrapped around him body, and for a second the sprite froze on the spot.

“Okay, what the hell is going on here,” he said from within the warm embrace. He wouldn’t have admitted it out loud, but Nico was scared that the panda might actually attack him after a moment or two. What if it was a real panda, and it suddenly decided that Nico looked like a tasty snack? But Nico decided that was impossible, mostly because he needed to reassure himself that he wasn’t going to get eaten. “I know you’re not a panda panda,” he said before he pulled away from the panda’s arms. “There’s a person somewhere in there. Not like that’s a suit or anything, but, guh!” He let out a small, frustrated yell and then poked the panda on the nose. Yes, pandas were very cute but he wanted to see the person behind all of the fur.

Umeko wouldn’t mind getting to know Nico after pranking the guy. Only probably was the guy wasn’t worthy of seeing her in her birthday suit. Or..she probably was just too embarrassed to trot around naked until she convinced him to give him an article of his clothing. So, the deal was she was going to have to nag at his shirt with her panda teeth as if trying to tell him an article of his clothing would have to cover for her. Chances were he didn’t know if she was a boy or a girl and he would just have to find that secret out. Or maybe he would think the girl was trying to eat his shirt…or him.

She nagged at his shirt a little harder and to further irritate him into maybe sparing her an article of clothing she clawed him a bit. Sure, it was her fault for shedding the clothes to do the prank. But if he wanted to see what lay underneath the panda, he was going to have to pay up somehow.

Birthday suit or not, Nico wanted to know who it was behind the fur. For some reason he hadn't initially thought that it could be a girl, and that shifting out of panda form would make her naked. But as the panda started tugging on his over-sized shirt, the thought formed in his head. A dude wouldn't have cared if he showed up naked, but a girl...

"Oh, so you're a chick underneath the panda," he said with a smirk. He crossed his arms over his chest, the mischievous nature twinkled in his eyes. He had half a mind to not give up his shirt at all; after all, a naked chick was practically the best thing in the world! "You want my shirt, huh?" He rubbed his chin as if he had to seriously think about whether or not she was worthy of his shirt. The truth was Nico had already decided that he would give the girl his shirt, but that didn't mean he couldn't tease her a little bit, did it?

He began to pace back and forth in front of the panda. "You could be a really cute girl underneath all of that fur, and I might want to see a cute girl naked." Nico knew enough about therianthropes to know that when they shifted out of their form they were naked. He smiled after a moment, shaking his head as a chuckle came out of his mouth. Nico pulled his shirt off his body, and handed it out to the panda.

"Here," he said with a smile. "I'll even turn around for you." He waited till the panda took his shirt to turn around, his hands over his eyes to give the therianthrope some privacy.

God. If he peaked he was getting it in the balls. But Umeko doubted she would actually do him harm. Handing her the shirt was kind. He could have tried to negotiate her into trying to give him a free show.She would have if she was drunk enough. She even grinned when she saw him without his shirt. Not bad. Nothing to be ashamed of there. She even tilted her head to appreciate the nice butt he had. Okay Umeko, time to hold your end of the deal. She told herself.

Umeko had to say it felt more odd shifting back into a human because her paws dragged unto the surface before they transformed into hands and rest beside her naked legs. Her spine smoothed into her skin as she stood up straight, her hair mangled before her eyes and her arms immediately covering her 'goods' as she would come to call them. She quickly hopped on over to Nico's shirt and slid it on before he had a chance to speak up softly. "Alright. You can turn around." His shirt was about to her knees, so she had good coverage.

"So. You figured me out?" She gave a fake pout. "Damn, and here I was hoping giant pandas were a normal thing here."

It felt like he had been standing there forever waiting for the mystery panda person to change back into… well, a person! But finally he heard a voice, a female voice, and he turned around to face her. Nico couldn’t help the smirk that formed upon his face, or the mischievous glint in his eyes. She was cute, and Nico definitely wished he had gotten a little bit of a peek earlier. Too bad she was already covered up, with his shirt no less, while he was left half-naked in front of her. Hopefully, she was enjoying the show.

“Yeah, that’s right. I figured you out,” Nico said proudly. “I may not have been the smartest kid in school, but I know enough to know that pandas don’t just fall out of trees and shit.” He crossed his arms over his chest, beaming widely. He was still eying her, though, taking in her insanely cute form and wanting to see more. “You’re lucky you’re so cute,” he said with a smirk. “Otherwise, I might have to teach you a lesson about pranking people.” Not that Nico was any better considering pranking was his favorite hobby. He could learn to like a girl who did the same.

“Oh?” Umeko asked curiously about his belief that panda’s don’t just fall from trees. “Well here they do.” She folded her arms with a bit of an evil grin on her face. “And if you tell anyone about this here trick, you may have to pay a price. I like using this prank.” She stated letting her eyes show that though she believed he was super cute as well, she’d do something to prove her panda trick would be protected. If she had to tie him to the very tree she fell from and tickle..er..er beat him into not telling she’d do it.

When he gave her a playful threat she worked with it, tracing her foot across the pavement. “Ohh ..You think you know a thing or two about pranking? I doubt it. I was the master pranker back home. People always underestimate the power of a girl. That’s what helps. I’m afraid you are no match for Umeko.”

The short girl flexed her muscles like the young man had something to be afraid of. She may have done the panda trick, but for all he knew that was nothin’ compared to some other tricks she had played upon other people.

Nico’s lips twitched into a wicked smirk, his arms were folded tightly over his chest. He saw the once over she gave him, and inside he preened at the silent compliment. But he didn’t let it show. Instead, he kept a calm demeanor, and began pacing back and forth in front of the therianthrope. “So this is your secret prank? Sounds to me like it’s really valuable to you.” He released one of his arms from his chest only to start scratching at his chin thoughtfully. “You can’t really make me not tell people, can you? You say that I’ll pay a price, but for a cute girl like you I don’t think anything you did could be punishment. But,” He raised his finger to make a point. “You could… bribe me to not tell. Let’s say, a date? Yeah… a date could keep my mouth shut for a while.”

Nico was shameless when it came to flirting with girls. He went with what he thought would work at the moment, and this girl seemed like the type who he could play and joke around with. Her words about how she was a master pranker made him smile, and he nodded his head. “Yeah, you probably were. But you haven’t been up against the likes of a one Nicolas Vega-Fernandez.” He bowed deeply, and when he looked up at her he bounced his eyebrows playfully. “At your service.” The sprite stood up again and grinned at the panda girl.

He crossed the distance between them, and looked down at her cute little body from head to toe. “Wanna go brainstorm pranks over food? Well, after you get some pants on. Not that I care either way since naked is awesome, but you might get all shy or something.” He smirked again. Nico liked this girl, but then again he had found that he had liked a lot of the cute girls he had met recently.

Hmm..so a date was how he was going to play it? Fair enough. She would be crazy to say no to that. She was the one chasing boys then one fell into her lap this time. Okay, well…she kind of almost fell on him. But, he was hardly holding back on hitting on her. It was about time! She knew it! Panda power! She couldn’t take the chance on losing her precious secret. “One date.” She teased him with. “And if you don’t suck on the date, I might just offer you another.” Her gaze was serious, daggers within her eyes. “Don’t underestimate me. You screw me over with this date business, MR and I will beat the crap out of you.” She warned, giving a sweet little smile afterwards.

She snickered when she heard his name. “You have a very flashy name. I guess I should be intimidated. “ She admitted, only slightly. “I will say our names go well together, but if we had a pranking business, of course my name would go first, even if you have other buddies who know some clever pranks.” Pranks were good to pull on people. Even though some people got pissed off about them, the after effect was truly harmless and many people just laughed it off.

Though Umeko first hesitated, she then raised a brow and nodded, walking ahead of Nico. “Yeah! Come on! Let’s grab something to eat and talk about some pranks.” She gave a grin. “I can handle no pants, don’t worry about me.” She began to run, waiting for him to catch up.
