Who: Riley and Charlie
When: Afternoon
Where: Training Terrace
What: Hanging out and boxing!

Riley was pumped! October was her favorite month and was nearing! She was out for a walk and most of all-she was going to go to the training terrace to enjoy a good practice outside. She should enjoy it while it lasted since the days were getting colder! It had been awhile, so she was sure she was going to turn up home with some aches and pains but she was no sissy. Pain a little here, pain a little there! A tough girl like her needed to be reminded why she was so..well tough!

She swung her gloves slowly while walking then was more careful with them. Those were her lucky gloves. She shouldn’t be swinging them around like they were meaningless. Riley supposed she just was a little too pumped to get that adrenaline running.

When she veered towards the final pathway, she could have sworn she heard noises declaring someone was around her. Or maybe something. With a curfew placed you start to wonder if people or things could be prowling around during the day. “Alright. Who’s there?” Riley said in an annoyed voice. “Come on. I’m dying to get just a few feet ahead and I hate feeling followed!”

Charlie was more of a summer kid by standards seeing as most of the sports he played were summertime sports. The young boy loved the feel of the sun beating down on him as he played baseball or soccer, and though he didn't mind autumn all that much the season itself didn't lend to the overall feel of the sports. Still, being out in the crisp fall air was better than being cooped up inside.

He had just made it to town, and headed straight for the training terrace when he spotted a familiar figure walking down the path in front of him. It was Riley, and she was swinging around a pair of boxing gloves from her hands. She was obviously going to the combat gym for some training, and Charlie was immediately inspired to join her. The question was, however, would she let him?

Charlie followed her for quite a ways, keeping to the trees that lined the path rather than the path itself. For some reason it was more fun following her like he was a spy or something. But Riley had caught on to his advancements, and she had actually called out to him. Well, not to him exactly, but she asked who was there. Feeling sheepish, Charlie wasn't ready to just announce that it was him. Instead, he sneaked forward a couple more steps, and when he was close enough he pounced out from a nearby tree.

"Boo!" He said in a loud voice, hoping to surprise Riley more than just scare her.

Riley only jumped lightly then spun around to see Charlie with a smile on her face. “Charlie!” She somewhat shouted joyously then hugged him, letting him go after a big hug. “Long time no see!” She punched his arm lightly. “You’re looking good!” She complimented. Now of course, she wouldn’t leave her new apprentice behind. She remembered their time quite well, it was so much fun! Of course it had seemed like ages since she had seen him, but who said they couldn’t be buddies yet again? He felt like a young brother she never had and on a day like this it would be a wonderful time to spend moments with him.

“I’m planning on giving out some punches, wanna join?” She set an arm on his shoulder. “We don’t have to do just that. You hungry? Maybe we could get a bite to eat or something afterwards. “ She began to walk lightly ahead of him and looked behind her shoulder. “Come on! Don’t wanna be a slow poke now do we?!”

A deep blush colored Charlie's cheeks after Riley hugged him. She was a pretty girl, after all, and Charlie noticed it from the first time they met. More importantly, though, she was someone that Charlie looked up to despite the short amount of time they spent together initially. Riley wasn't a typical girl; she was tough, and sassy, and she didn't treat Charlie like he was a little kid. Did he mention she was tough? The fact that Riley knew how to box, and was willing to show him made the other therianthrope that much cooler.

"I was hoping we could!" Charlie was excited at the prospect of hanging out with Riley again, and he smiled broadly when she invited him to a few rounds of punching. He nodded with her other suggestions, glad that he didn't have any other plans for the day. "Yeah, that sounds great. We should grab some food from the café and go hang out at the beach or something." He blushed again. "But only if you want to, I mean."

He was caught off guard when Riley walked ahead of him, but he caught up to her quickly and nudged her playfully with his elbow. "So what are we going to do first, huh? I've been keeping up with the things you taught me last time, but I don't know if I'm doing them right."

Riley looked over to Charlie with an impressed smile. “That’s amazing that you have been keeping up the good work! That means you get to try on my lucky gloves.” She complimented him with a large genuine smile. It was sure a compliment since no one got to wear her gloves besides her or anyone she deemed worthy. They were like her golden gloves. She took out girls that were almost a foot taller than her. Sometimes, being short was something awesome. “Don’t worry. It’s not like the movies where they smell because no one has washed them or anything!” Riley told him with a laugh. “But they may smell girlie or something, so beware!”

She thought about what they could do next. She considered seeing what he was made of before they tried anything new. “Well, I remembered teaching you some killer punches and uppercuts right? Maybe a kick or two? Now we have to work on putting it together. Plus, I got to teach you how to make it flow right!? That way if someone tries to come after you, you can have it memorized without stalling. Would hate to have you in danger out there.”

Exercise of course always took energy so she gave him a promising smile. “Then afterwards we can grab a bite to eat!”

Riley made Charlie feel more grown up than usual. She didn't treat him as a child, and she encouraged him to do his best. She was the big sister he had never had, and it was kind of nice considering that Charlie had always been the older sibling. It was tiring being the one that was in charge, or always having to be more responsible. But he didn't have to worry about that with Riley; he could be his regular, goof-ball self with her.

"It's not that amazing," he said blushing again. "I just wanted to be good when I saw you again." He probably shouldn't have said that since it only made him blush harder than ever. He turned his face away from Riley so he could compose himself before he smiled broadly at her offer. She would let him try out her lucky gloves! Charlie wondered if that was like having lucky socks, or lucky underwear, where people didn't wash them or anything. He hesitated for a moment, wondering if it was truly all right for him to try on her gloves.

"Are you sure?" He asked as he looked at them, his eyes sparkling a bit. He laughed when she said that they smelled girly, and Charlie shook his head. "Nah, it's cool. I live with three girls, so I'm used to girly smells."

The young man listened intently as Riley spoke, nodded to show that he was interested in what she was saying. Charlie was never the type of boy who had problems paying attention to people who talked. His parents had told him that it was polite to do so, and he never questioned it. Besides, this was valuable information for him and it did him well to pay attention.

"Okay, right," he exclaimed. "Should we warm up or something first?" Charlie's eyes lit up mischievously, an idea forming in his head as he stood there with Riley. "Let's play tag to warm up!" He didn't even give the girl a chance to reply before he swatted her lightly on the shoulder and yelled, "You're it!," as he darted away from her.

Riley smirked when she thought about Charlie living with three girls. “Three friggin girls!?” She thought about if friggin was a bad word. Oh, she hoped not. This was so unusual for her to care about how she watched her language. Usually her language was pretty harsh and matter of fact. But now she was making sure it was appropriate and censored. Granted, even though she was among Native Americans when she was young, she still had a bit of a mouth on her. Sometimes when she would get rocks in her bare feet, there would be a whole slew of curse words coming out of her mouth. She learned them from natives who weren’t so formal. Plus, when she was taken back to Las Vegas..wow she changed a lot as far as her foul mouth. Well, she guessed in general.

She went back to Charlie when he asked if they should warm up. She was ignorant as to what he meant as far as tag. Like punching tag? Of course she wouldn’t hurt him or anything. She went to say yes when she was tagged! “HEY!” She growled, staying in place for a moment before she came to the realization that she had one hell of a fast runner to catch up to. “HEY! GET OVER HERE!” She exclaimed cheerfully.

She may have been short, but her legs were long and her strides were sturdy and well paced. She knew it was horrible that she smoked, so to make sure she could keep up with a kid she had to cut him off. Her legs hit hard against the surface and her arms swung to gain speed. “You better watch out kid! I’m coming for you!”

It seemed like she disappeared, like she was nowhere to be found as she That was because she found a way to cut him off. She jumped in front of him and simply and delicately poked him on the shoulder.

“TAG!” She skipped once, and then began to run. This was fun, she should do this more often!

Charlie laughed at Riley's question, and nodded at her. "Yeah, three frickin' girls," he said, using 'frickin' instead of friggin. Both of them weren't bad words in his opinion, and he wouldn't have minded if Riley said a curse word here or there. Charlie wasn't a stranger to curse words though he wasn't quite if he was ready to use them himself in public or in front of adults.

The young therianthrope thought that the best way to warm-up was whatever way they could have the most fun. Regular jumping jacks, or jump rope just didn't do it for him. It was too boring for the active teenager, and tag proved to be the perfect combination of running and having fun. He tagged her and dashed off in the opposite direction. Charlie occasionally glanced over his shoulder to check on Riley's position, running faster to keep out of the girl's reach.

"You're so not going to catch me!" His voice was full of life and laughter, and he was having more fun than he imagined he would have a few hours before Pryce's wake. He wasn't going to think about that right now otherwise he'd be in a bummed out in front of Riley, and he didn't want that. Charlie looked over his shoulder again only to find that the female boxer had disappeared. He slowed down his pace, looking left and right for his mentor when he suddenly felt a poke on his shoulder and heard Riley say 'tag!'.

Charlie sighed out loud. "I can't believe I fell for that!" That was all the young man said before he darted off after Riley, closing the distance between them with a quick burst of speed. "I'll get you for that," he yelled after her as he chased her around the training terrace.

As Riley ran through the Terrace area trying to evade Charlie, she found the breath in her to speak. "So Charlie! How has life been?! Anything new!?" She ducked into a hiding spot, but still ran checking to see if she had a good change of being able to scare him by suddenly leaping in front of him then continuing to run. She suddenly leapt from her spot and continued to run, giggling slightly. Riley then started to jog so she could continue to talk before she picked up pace. "Girlfriend? Behaving? Come on, give a girl some news!" With her it was like a heart to heart with another boy. Or just a giant tomboy.

She gave a giant smile when she began running backwards, a coy smile on her lips. "You got to be impressing some girls!" The fellow therianthrope stuck out her tongue before she continued a steady run for a moment before picking up pace. It was really fun to be having a friendly competition with Charlie who was pretty much faster than her if she wasn't careful!

Riley made sure to look behind her several times as she circled around various places of the Terrace. "Ha! I am super woman, try and catch up with me!"

It was easy for Charlie to keep up with Riley. He was into sports and working out, so running along (or just jogging as they were occasionally doing) didn't wear the boy out one bit. He was enjoying his time with Riley, and even if they didn't do anything else today he'd be happy. He tried to laugh off her questions, but he ended up blushing deeply instead. Charlie was just beginning his 'relationship' with Echo, or whatever the hell it was that he had with Echo. Charlie didn't know what to call it, really.

"I guess I have a girlfriend," he said, his cheeks as red as beets. "Her name's Echo." He blushed even more, if that was possible, as the redness spread to his ears. "But she's like the only one right now." Charlie stopped running, standing in one place with his hands on his waist. Girls confused him enough that he couldn't concentrate on running at that moment. "I mean, I think other girls are like super cute, but I don't know them. But I hang out with Echo and stuff, and she's like super cool and super cute. But like, is it wrong that I think other girls are cute? Will she hate me if she finds out?"

He wanted to race after Riley, but she had to go and ask him about girls, and well... he was confused. It showed on his face as plain as day, and maybe his tomboy mentor could help him out on that subject. Though Charlie was a therianthrope he was still a regular 14-year old boy. Girls were fun and all, but playing around and having a good time was even better. He continued to chase Riley around the courtyard, enjoying his time with her and looking forward to the next.
