Who: Adam, Constance, and Simon
When: Afternoon
Where: Town Hall
What: The unjust interrogation of Simon Myles.

With no reason to disbelieve Constance, Adam set his hard eyes on the werewolf the second the man showed up at Town Hall. Politely, Adam and one of the Elven guards led him towards one of the interrogation rooms—a room which could only shelter against magic and not shifting. This time the rooms held no wards against magic. Adam had all of his capabilities available to him, as did Constance. However, Constance’s would not be much use in an interrogation room. Adam’s would be.

It was his charge to protect her. Should anything happen to Constance, it too would happen to Adam. Their bond was not so close that if Constance was wounded, Adam would be wounded as well. It might as well have been as strong, though, for all that Adam knew. He cared and loved for Constance; she was his mother and creator, the giver of his life. Her love for him raised him and taught him well and made him what he was today, and he would never, ever let anyone harm her.

The same was true for his family. Alicia was his family, Constance’s granddaughter and Adam’s niece.

He stood alone in the interrogation room with Simon. Simon seated himself in the chair across from the desk. Adam remained standing against the wall with his arms crossed. Simon would confess to his crimes of trying to hurt Alicia, and Adam would see to it that the werewolf answered for them. He believed Constance. Adam had not reason not to after everything she divulged to him in private, and what she said was true—Simon was dangerous, and he had hurt Alicia.

And he was going to pay for it.

Wasn't nobody going to tell him why he was here? Simon rubbed his nose. Crossed his arms. Shuffled his feet on the floor. Damn near matched the glare of the dark-haired man across from him. Man had a sneer the size of Texas on his face. What was his damn problem? Shit, what was the damn prolem they dragged him here for? Not a day gone by since the full moon. His joints were still sore from the transformation and they dragged him out here for some bullshit. Bullshit Simon didn't know nothing about. Ain't nobody told him so he weren't for the wiser. Could've asked the man in the room with him but he didn't look too happy to be here. No more than Simon was.

Feet tapped and tapped against the floor. Tiled floor. Made a clack each time his shoes hit it. Hoped it annoyed the guard in there with him. Simon sneered at him. Intimidation worked sometimes. He weren't in no position to be intimidating though. They had him trapped in a damn questioning room or whatever the hell they called it. Simon stayed quiet just a little while. Started feeling like he was a kid again and his father was coming to yell and holler his head off. Couldn't take the damn silence.

"What am I here for?" demanded Simon. Got up from the chair and held out his arms. Question was aimed at the dark-haired man. Was he a guard or not? Simon didn't know and Simon didn't give a shit. They was going to give him answers or he was going to walk right on out of here.

Constance walked into the interrogation room just in time to hear Simon asked his question aloud. A brilliant smile lit up her face, and she closed the door behind herself. “Now, hold your horses,” she said politely in a saccharine voice, moving around the table to sit on the side opposite of Simon. Constance put down a manila folder and sat down in the much more comfortable chair offered to her, which Simon didn’t get on his side. “And if I were you, I would sit right back down in my seat.” She beamed at him, the wrinkles at the corner of her eyes becoming more pronounced.

She waited for him to sit down again, her hands folded nice and neatly in front of her. He was going to follow her rules, or Simon Myles would discover the council could be just as much unforgiving as it could be forgiving. When it came to the matter of her granddaughter and her family, she wasn’t going to stop until she received the truth. Constance refused settle for anything less. “We just have a few questions for you today,” she informed him, “and if you wouldn’t mind answering them, you can go right along to your business once we’re done here. Sound nice?”

Somebody else done come into the room. Simon scowled at the old lady. No point in saying nothing scathing. Sat his ass down and thought about what he done lately. Pissed off somebody on the top? Simon didn't remember nothing catchy. Got into a fight last week though. Couple of witnesses. His mind raced. Somebody reported him didn't they! Swore under his breath and kicked the table leg.

Quiet boy up on the wall wasn't saying nothing. Shit, old lady was giving Simon answers at least. Simon stared at her. Thought about what sort of consequences they'd throw his way if he got his ass up and left this damn room. Father used to call men like them pussies. Men who couldn't live up to being a man. Face them with all you got, he said, Don't ever let nobody scare you away!

Simon wasn't going to walk outta here. He was gonna face it head on. Simon grinned like the smug fucker he was.

"What you want?"

Didn't need to say nothing else. Get it over and done with. No other way to get things done Simon knew. Simon had better things to do than waste his fucking day in this room. Looked like something out of a cop show. All it was missing was the damn police officer. Stone-faced jackass backing the old lady musta been a stand-in for it Simon thought.

Constance knew she already didn't like this young man. He came in here with a chip on his shoulder and an attitude towards his superiors. Constance still foamed at the mouth with how the Head Council was treated by those of its citizens called in for clearing up certain matters that pertained to the law. They didn't call in people for nothing whatsoever, and these particular citizens always acted like nothing was wrong and spat in the face of the council. Despite those who had gotten away with it before, Constance wasn't going to let anyone get away with it again. If they were called in, they were treat her and the council with some respect. Things would have been so much easier for all of them if they had just done that one little thing.

"You were reported as a werewolf shifting outside of the full moon on the night of the Autumn Festival because of a fight between you and a young group of your peers?" Constance began, eyeing Simon closely. "You didn't complete a full transformation, but your bone structure changed in your face and upper body, your mouth, jaw, and teeth grew into that of a wolf's lower face, your eyes changed color, and coarse hair began to spring up on your otherwise hairless skin around the head and neck." Constance sounded all very well and professional in that moment, something she commended herself for given the situation. When it came down to it, Constance knew how to keep her cool.

"Are these true, or do you have a different perspective of that night that you would like to tell us?" The elder woman provided her voice with a general tone of interest in what he had to say. He wasn't being brushed aside, although she easily could have done that. Constance was here to listen to what he had to say. First off, she wanted to see whether or not he would deny it.

Well don't it beat all, thought the werewolf. He got reported tooth and nail for it. Every little thing she described was every little thing he done. Weren't no sweet talking his way out of this. Time to confess his sins and be through with it. Simon didn't do nothing big. Partial shift weren't no big deal. Went off into the forest and kept to his damn self for the night eating a few animals and running about like a mad wolf. Couldn't say nothing to him. Simon was responsible. Simon took off into the forest. Paid his dues out there for his piss poor decision. What was they going to do about it? Piss and moan because he scared some people? Simon snorted.

"Yeah so? I shifted partially. Ain't no law against that. Two boys attacked me for bullshit. I wanted to talk to my girl. They punched me and cracked me up the back of the head with a fucking baseball bat. Might as well have been a baseball bat. Damn thing gave me a bump I still got." Simon pointed at his head. Bent it over for her to see. "Look right there," said Simon.

Simon frowned and fell back into his seat. "Body's natural instinct is to shift to protect it. Yeah I shifted and I'm sorry but them boys shouldn't have tried to clobber my fucking head in." He weren't swearing violently or nothing like that. Just telling it like it was. "Yeah I started it. Shouldn't've grabbed her but I did and I can't take it back. But I got enough control over my wolf to keep it from coming out and hurting innocent people. People got scared because I shifted? Shit I understand but I ain't dangerous. I just got a fucking temper sometimes. I ain't gonna hurt nobody real bad though. I'll punch them and I'll kick them but I ain't shifting and hurting them. I got enough control over my wolf if I shifted I ain't going to hurt nobody on purpose."

Constance couldn’t give a damn about what happened during his fight with the boys. What concerned her most was the aftermath outside of the festival in the forest. A whole group of bystanders witnessed him running off into the forest, and then Alicia was attacked shortly after. However, the story gave better insight into what might have happened that night. Simon didn’t sound like he held a grudge against Zach, but maybe he was a good actor or maybe he just hadn’t known the girl was Zach’s sister. The part she wanted to hear about was the part they were nearing, and she planned on asking him questions about everything.

“The fight wasn’t of my concern,” she said coldly. “Although, now it might be.” Constance slowly folded her arms over her chest as she stared across the table at the young man. Her mind faltered slightly; it was possible he wasn’t involved in this at all, but then that still left a crazy werewolf running around town, and that idea unsettled her more than it just being Simon instead.

“What about the girl?” Constance inquired. She heard Adam step forward again, his feet moving across the floor until he came into her vision at the side of the table. Adam was getting closer to Simon as the harder questions came up. There was no telling how the werewolf would react to them. “A young girl got attacked in the same forest you ran off into . . . by a werewolf.” Constance eye’s narrowed. “What have you got to say to that, Simon?”

So far Simon didn't think nothing about the questions. So he got into a fight. Damn kids should've minded their own business. Left Simon and Adrienne alone to talk. Simon needed to talk with her. Wasn't nothing else he needed. Questions on his mind weren't going away so he got her to ask her. But things got bad real quick and a bunch of damn people saw it. They was questioning him and pointing fingers over some stupid fucking fight. Nah, he wasn't going to get it. Didn't understand it. He didn't do nothing to hurt nobody. They knew he was a born werewolf all in control of the wolf. Acting like it was a big damn surprise he got growly on some assholes.

Old lady wasn't playing tricks though. Weren't no game anymore when she mentioned a girl. Girl got attacked in the forest. Forest he run off into that night. Simon was still. Still as a wolf on the prowl. Alert. Eyes open and staring at the two of them. A guard on his side. An old woman sitting in front. Was they blaming him for it without any goddamn proof?

Simon slammed his fist on the table. Stood up at full height. Leaned over the table and pointed his damn finger in the woman's face. "What the fuck are you talking about?!" shouted Simon in a rage.

As soon as Simon slammed his fist down onto the table and stood up from his seat, Adam intervened. His hand collided with Simon's shoulder, Adam's whole body pushing forward and shoving the werewolf back against the wall behind Simon. The slightest sign of harm directed towards Constance alarmed the elemental, and he wasn't about to give Simon a moment of sway in the situation. His other hand snagged Simon's nearest arm to prevent a punch and twisted it into an awkward angle. The hand on Simon's shoulder moved to the other man's neck, pinning him against the wall in a weakening lock. If he even wiggled, Adam would tighten his fingers around the other man's neck.

His eyes were burning as they stared at Simon. Smoke appeared to practically fill the area behind them, darkening the elemental's eyes even more. He wasn't the type to be played with when he knew what was going on. "Do you think you can raise your voice at Constance?" he asked Simon, tilting his head ever so slightly to the side as he narrowed his gaze.

"Answer the question, and answer it honestly," Adam said in a slow paced whisper, his voice low and thrumming with danger. "Did you attack Alicia because of Zach and Adrienne?" He wanted the truth from the werewolf, not a lie coated with excuses. Constance had planted it in his head that is was Simon, and Adam believed every bit of it without question. His fingers tightened some on Simon's neck to get the point across. He had better answer honestly, or the consequences weren't looking too good for him.

That done it. Guard done shoved him against the wall and Simon weren't too appreciative. Wolf within sensed the attack. Simon could hold it back. Calm the wolf. But did he want to? Guy slammed him and grabbed his throat. Far as Simon was concerned he was protecting his ass by shifting.

A growl filled his throat. Nozzle protruded on his face. Coarse and rough hairs grew out of nowhere. Covered his face in sparse patches. Hair on his head shot out longer. Jaw unhinged. Teeth grew and sharpened. Simon became feral. The wolf was coming out to play. Guard wanted to tussle? Well then, they was going to tussle. Simon roared at Adam. Bones cracked and snapped. A full shift weren't going to happen. Full moon just passed. Needed more time to get his strength back.

But he weren't going to be tossed around like a fucking punching bag. Didn't do nothing. Not a goddamn thing. And this asshole snatched him up. Threw him against the wall. They was treating him like he was a prisoner. They didn't even tell him what he had done to deserve it! They expected him to be a pansy and not do a damn thing?

They had another thing coming for them.

Adam gritted his teeth and forced all of his strength on Simon once he noticed the werewolf was trying to shift. Suddenly, his arm began to change and slowly morph into a large, thick trunk of what looked like an oversized plant. Little vines topped with leaves sprouted from the trunk as it continued to grow and wrap itself around Simon's neck and upper body. It wasn't closing around his neck or cutting off air suppply; Adam was careful only to hold the werewolf's mouth away from anything it could attempt to bite. "Constance, leave!" Adam shouted, wrestling with shifting man as Simon's strength slowly increased and fought back with Adam's full ability.

Adam struggled pushing Simon away from the door and towards the further wall. Instead, he managed to only bring the other man to the floor. Adam held him firmly, refusing to the let the werewolf escape his grip, and heard as Constance scooted the chair back and got to her feet. "I'll get the guards," she said loudly, exiting the interrogation room as Adam was left alone with Simon. Simon still growled and roared beneath him, fighting against his captor. Finally, an Elf and two Minotaurs came into the room and helped Adam secure Simon with shackles.

"Bring him to the dungeon," Constance suddenly said from nearby. "He'll stay here tonight if that's what he wants so badly." Simon reacted violently. The man didn't act like an innocent person. He shifted after making a move against Constance. They were the actions of a guilty person. Adam believed that.

They took Simon away, the man still half-changed and growling like an animal against his captors. Adam watched them. He looked to Constance, breaths coming out of his mouth raggedly.

Hopefully, it was over.
