"Oh, I don't know about that," he replied as he folded his arms across his chest and slapped on a smile. "High school was full of fun times and memories." His eyes met Adam's. "You shoulda been there," he said, "it was quite a ride." Isaac was well aware of his place in the order of The Child Wonders. He was the youngest therefore the most irrelevant. He was the one who was ignored from time to time, whose voice was never heard, and was thought of last. So, he was used to being an afterthought.
It'd been six years since they'd all been together. After that, it was a slow demise much like the illnesses that had slowly been taking their lives when they were younger. And, just like his power, he was left with the shades of the past to reckon with. Isaac never kidded himself once the incident happened. He wasn't anyone's friend. Not really. Sure, they had grown close and they had become a family of sorts, but Isaac was expendable. They'd each formed attachments with kids their own age, and that was right. It made sense. However, that didn't mean it hurt any less. So, while he might not have been on anyone's radar - they had all been on his.
"Thanks for coming," he said, genuinely. A soft moment in an otherwise awkward exchange. "I'd invite you to the after party, but something tells me you wouldn't be keen on partying with a bunch of hormonal teenagers who will, no doubt, spend most of the night crying, drinking, or having sex in hot tubs and laundry rooms."
