This is Khushi with a new character, Lydia Martin from Teen Wolf, coming in from after season 4. (Because that's as far as I got in general with watching the show.)<br /><br />Lydia is a banshee, her latent powers coming to fruition when she got bit by an alpha werewolf. Since then, she can detect death, know when its happening generally, know when it's about to happen, know when people have died (oh, Derleth is going to be funnnn). Also there's the scream. Can be a bit concussive too. More details in her app, of course!<br /><br />She's 18, genius level IQ, knows classic and archaic Latin, French, and Spanish, aaaand is rooming with Eddie Munson. This is Alison with my second character, Michael Burnham from Star Trek: Discovery. She's a xenoanthropologist and captain of the USS Discovery. Do they reveal three secrets or take on a heroic effort to withstand the magical agony?</i><br /><br />You may be thinking, "But Mod, I don't want players to mix IC/OOC. I don't want to reveal my character's secrets!" And there is some valid concern in that, however, I also think we have a pretty great players here and there is some value in OOCly revealing those secrets!<br /><br />1. It may give you and your fellow players some plot/line ideas that will test their inner secrets.<br />2. If you're struggling with your character, taking the time to think about what their secrets are may help you refocus on who they are as a person.<br />3. I just think this shit is fun.<br /><br />Totally optional! Do they spill three secrets? (If so, what are they?) Stop midway? (thematically appropriate greeting, go!)<br /><br />It's Seb again, with a minor apology <i>and</i> a new character. I've been dealing with a Surprise Arthritis Flare for the past couple of weeks which has taken up my time with new hospital appointments and not being able to walk very well - rest assured I <i>am</i> still here and absolutely down for new plots, just struggling a little with the anxiety of missing stuff and not knowing if I'm pushing in on stuff or not! It's totally me, I just desperately don't want to annoy anybody by being over-eager djkfdjkh. Jim's a host this week and if anybody wants anything with him, kick me wherever you want to talk!!<br /><br />As for new characters, I'm dragging in Hana Song from Overwatch, because I've always loved her and I haven't had the chance to properly play her before. She's a MEKA pilot with the Korean army - essentially only fighting robots that are trying to destroy the city, for reasons the Overwatch lore hasn't deigned to inform us yet. I'm kinda hoping with the release of OW2 we're actually going to get <i>more</i> lore for the universe and I'll be able to canon update her later down the road at some point but as of right now, she's coming directly post-the comic where she was recruited by Overwatch to work with them. <br /><br />On the surface, she's peppy, bright and cocky about her skills in both piloting and gaming, both of which are very warranted - she was recruited <i>because</i> she was one of the world champions in a game called Mecha Guardian V, but she dabbles in pretty much all kinds of games and almost definitely has a Stardew Valley equivalent programmed into her mech that she plays on her downtime. Under the surface of all of that, though, she's a pretty damaged person who was thrust into a position of holding up an entire country's morale with just her and a few friends and my <i>god</i>, the pressure is killing her. Just wanted to take a moment to let you know that the Park is programmed for diversity so there won't be any racist rhetoric going around. There's also no obvious non-con sex/relationships going on. Westworld is a theme Park, and it's not meant to be 100% historically accurate (even if you're character doesn't know that yet, please use this to be suspicious!). It's meant to be a fun adventure time. What YOU do with it is up to you, but the Host NPCs (about 95% of the people) won't be spouting racist rhetoric or anything like that. I'm Carrah May, and I thiiink I recognize a handful of your names from games once upon another time. I'm new, recently returning to rp as a hobby, and I'll be bringing you Diana Bishop from A Discovery of Witches. <br /><br />Diana is <i>mostly</i> canon, just not pregnant after returning from 16th century England. She's a powerful witch, but still learning and testing the extent of her powers, soooo apologies in advance if she's a little..strange about them. But she's mated/married to a vampire and may have picked up some of their pack-like tendencies without realizing. She's also on the hunt for a medieval alchemical manuscript, known to vampires/witches/daemons in her world as The Book of Life. Again. She's straight from canon, since she didn't seem to work out well here not wholly herself. She doesn't recall being here before, though I don't care if people who were around for either her original run or her last run remember her. She probably won't care much for being called Mel/Melody at this stage in her life, but again, I don't care if it happens. It's her it bothers, not me.<br /><br />She's been around all of about two days, isn't too mad about it yet actually, might not be entirely convinced she isn't still in The Library (thank you flashes of past lives), and is in a reasonably decent mood all things considered.<br /><br />Her canon point is past her death and she does mention it casually on occasion, as a heads up. Let me know if that's a problem and it can be avoided easily enough.<br /><br />My email and dropbox (hers or Moiraine's) are always open for questions/concerns/conversation. He's not particularly inclined to interfere with people, so don't expect him to just wave a hand and make all the nightmares go away. <br /><br />He <i>can</i>, he just doesn't see the point. Nightmares serve a <i>purpose</i>, after all. <s>He went through the hard work of <i>making</i> them for you, you ungrateful bastards</s><br /><br />However, his access to dreams, to (quite literally) the entire collective unconscious of the multiverse, gives him the ability to know your characters, their names, their dreams, their fears. <br /><br />Once again, <i>he just may not care</i>. If anyone wants me to just stay out of their character's shit, let me know, and Dream will never breathe a word of it. Chances are, he won't say anything <i>unless</i> I have permission, but he may (after the first night in Derleth) know people's names and basic backgrounds. <br /><br /><b>SO. If it's okay for Dream to know whatever is going on in your character's head, or just their name and basic info, let me know. Thankfully, we had a pretty clear winner. So clear, in fact, that it won using three different vote calculation methods. Why would I tabulate the vote using three different methods? Which means the status quo is going to basically be extended a little longer until we get the right pilot.<br /><br />What happens after each new pilot? We’ll do another vote like this. I have missed him since I dropped him, so now I'm bringing his stupid ass back. He has been updated to the end of season 5 (hello crybaby backstory reveal) and will remember his time here in Derleth. (Hopefully, they don't run into any of those worlds where he might have impregnated anyone)<br /><br />So the thing we Rick and Morty fans suspected was true turned out to be true and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZLnHWTfP8I">so much sadder than we thought</a>. (tw: lots of murder, including a child, alcoholism and war scenes. All cartoon and not particularly graphic. After showing this to Morty, they escaped the Citadel with Rick promising to make their relationship more equal. He'd realized that their relationship was really toxic and wanted better for Morty. So that's the upside; they're more on equal footing. Felt we needed more Trek lovelies so I'm bringing you the red haired, talks a mile a minute, brilliant scientist/engineer that is Sylvia Tilly. She goes by Tilly though, so don't call her Sylvia. Addicted to caffeine like any good engineer, she's coming from the 32nd century (aka post Star Trek Discovery Season 3) where she's just accepted a job teaching at Starfleet Academy. <br /><br />In the pilot, she'll be teaching math at the high school (for the last day or so of school this week). <br /><br />She's familiar with traveling the universe on a network of mushrooms, jumping 900 years into the future, and alternate universe. I've never been very good at introducing myself, but here goes: I'm Sebastian, please call me Seb (or Stella works too!), they/them and I think I've played with some of you before - if I haven't, it's great to meet you!! :D<br /><br />I'm 28, in the UK (although I might be taking a trip to the US in October-November money and circumstances permitting, as a fair advance warning - I'll have computer access and my buddy I'm staying with is an old rp friend, so she totally gets it) and you'll probably notice I tend to keep pretty odd hours. <br /><br />This is Jim Kirk, as I'm sure at least some of you will know via pop culture or RP osmosis, but if not - he's the captain of the USS Enterprise in Star Trek, he's kind of an ass sometimes but has a heart of gold. Very much your stereotypical action hero protagonist in a lot of ways, but I think he's a lot of fun and tends to get along well with <i>most</i> people. He's from specifically the alternate timeline created in the Star Trek movies (Star Trek, Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Trek: Beyond) but is aware in-character of the existence of another timeline, so he might not be <i>too</i> baffled by the Discovery/SNW cast. <br /><br />I'm always open to be messaged - my discord and dropbox are the best ways to contact me! Characters had two-ish sets of memories, their canon and the AU timeline.<br /><br /><li> <a href="https://asylums.insanejournal.com/noexits/590591.html">The second pilot is a fantasy survival story</a>, think like <i>Magicians Nephew Era Narnia.</i> A brand new world for all the characters to help shape and mold into a new home.</ul>Once we've played through all three pilots/worlds, I'm going to make a big post with breakdowns of all three, space for people to discuss and give feedback, my own perceived pros/cons and proposed modifications to make each pilot work better, space for folks to share what they think. It'll be a whole thing. My hope is even if you're new and weren't there to play, you'll have enough information to vote.<br /><br /><br /><h3>DOS:</h3> So this last pilot! Let's discuss.<br /><ul><li> It's a sentient city that really likes you all and has felt lonely. Clearly the only reasonable thing to do is try to take you all for itself and hide Derleth. It wants to make you happy, but its intentions will likely backfire. It's a city, it doesn't know how to people real well.<br /><br /><li> An <b>optional</b> plot for this pilot is the city putting your character in a misguided situation to try to make you happy. <a href="https://asylums.insanejournal.com/noexitsplot/93979.html?thread=1244699#t1244699">That sign up is here.</a><br /><br /><li> Again, Derleth will be missing. No campus, no Green, nada. Trashing on famous TERF authors ICly is also totally rad.<br /> <li> We haven't had an HP character in game for almost a year. I think by now we can totally retcon the specific fandom they were from, instead referring to them as a generic magic user type that disappeared some time back.<br /> <li> This is merely what I no longer want in my game. This is not meant to be a judgement against anyone who plays HP characters in other games. After all, the <i>characters</i> themselves aren't transphobic trashfires. I get that. Think Starlight from The Boys, or whatshernames (the naive country girls) from Coyote Ugly or Don't Trust the B from Apt 23. She is, in fact, from the town of Shoshoni in Wyoming which had just barely over 600 residents in 2010, so she really fits the naive country girl demographic except for being Jewish instead of a WASP. And, you know, all the crime and supervillaining and spying. She is these days considered a hero despite having once been in a group that literally called themselves the Masters of Evil. SHIELD probably doesn't agree right now, but then Melissa doesn't agree that SHIELD's the good guys anymore either. Her canon point's the very very early days of HYDRA Steve when we can still pretend that storyline is fake, and they're kind of super corrupt. (Hilariously she's living with MCU Steve and she's going to be biting her tongue over so many things lol.)<br /><br />In terms of powers, she's what's known as a mutate, not to be confused with mutants. She got her powers from mad science, basically, and they include the standard super strength/speed/reflexes/endurance/blah blah as well as acoustikinesis. When she produces sound she can convert it into hard light, mostly pink holograms that can be interacted with, and can also modulate her voice to manipulate things in other ways. One thing she does mostly subconsciously is that while speaking she basically sends messages to the lizard brain of anyone listening saying that she's nice and good and (particularly if the listener is male) a little bit vulnerable and in need of protection. This is a pretty subtle message that characters don't in any way have to fully believe or act on, it's like when you first meet someone and you just get this feeling like you want to be friends with them - easy to ignore if they say something you don't like or the logistics of hanging out are just going to be too annoying.<br /><br />She's also a wicked singer, so if we ever get a non-cursed karaoke machine she'll be all in on that.<br /><br />-Kei</div><div class='entry-metadata'></div>

I have family visiting from the US for two weeks and it has been really challenging finding a moment alone to sit at the computer. So a lot of my tags have been from my phone (which is why those of you who have sent me larger network/log replies—which are fantastic! thank you I love them!—aren't getting responses as quickly as others.) It's just hard to type on my phone. I'm also in the middle of a big contract negotiation at work that is about to determine a lot of my free time over the next few months. She is from Critical Role, campaign 3 (I don't have a problem, you have a problem). Laudna is delightful. She typically has a pretty upbeat and positive attitude, although she can snap easily. But that's mostly when she's worried about Imogen.<br /><br />Also...she's kinda sorta dead. Or was dead at one point. She's not technically a zombie, but she does register as undead to anyone or anything that can sense such things. She also has the woman who killed her living in her head as her Warlock patron. Fun times! <br /><br />Laudna is pretty creepy looking. She looks like a walking corpse and often has black ichor dripping from her hands and/or facial orifices. Also she has a dead rat with a raven skull for a head that she puppets. His name is Pâté de Rolo. He kind of inexplicably has a cockney accent. She takes being called scary as a compliment (although she believes she is fun-scary) and enjoys being morbid. It's just part of who she is.<br /><br />I was thinking it would be fun for someone to come across her shortly after she's arrived. And maybe think she's some kind of holdover from the zombie apocalypse? I bring you Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect franchise. For those who played the games, he's got the Colonist + Sole Survivor background aka angst central. He's also a vanguard so he tends to favor an SMG and to biotically charge into the enemy (maybe a bit of an adrenaline junkie). He made mostly paragon choices (if you're curious which ones, I detailed them under the history section) with a sprinkling of renegade for flavor.<br /><br />He's coming to us straight after Priority: Rannoch in ME3, and he just brokered peace between the geth and quarians, which is a big fucking deal, so he's in a considerably better mood than he could have been had he come from later on in the game. It's Steph here. <br /><br />1) My energy levels are frighteningly low again, and I can't concentrate - it's a whole thing that I'm not going to go deeper into, but I'm here and trying.<br />2) The weather wants to ramp up to 97°F lately and I have one fan. <br />3) I finally(!) brought in Ana Helstrom, who you may know as Satana Hellstrom from the comics, but everything's so different that all you can do is shrug and sigh? They're from Our Flag Means Death and were recently serving with Ed and Stede. I'm bringing in Joyce Byers, from Stranger Things, Season 4. She's an amazing single mother, who has been caught up in bizarre events. She is very passionate and determined when she thinks something dangerous is happening, especially if it concerns someone she carries about. She can come across as ranting and frantic, but she is smart and able to come up with theories and take action.
