Prompt/challenge you're answering: * Naoto and Faris with the title, "Holding the High Ground."
The blade drew sharp across Naoto’s, the princess’s heels planted against green earth with her teeth bared and her eyes white-hot. Soft blonde hair cascaded around them like heavy spun gold, the delicate white night gown already stained with a fine mist of blood.
Alita—no, Faris—laughed, sharp and delighted, and kept the blade steady as she whirled, a lethal arc of silver through one thickly-furred body, another. Naoto leapt forward, feet scraping on the grit covering the cold stone floor, the long arch of the ceiling vanishing into shadows that more enemies fell from.
“We achieved the doors,” she said when her shoulderblades hits Faris’s, voice lethally flat and even. “What now?”
Faris gave a throaty gasp of laughter, shook blood from her long sword. “We hold them.” She purred, and her voice was a heavy rasp of enjoyment. “Think you can keep up?”
Naoto reversed the blade, lunged into a vicious eviscerating sweep that cut open two and regained her footing in time to cleave another’s skull down to the spine. Magic coated the back of her throat, crackled electric in the air as the construct fell into wet redly disjointed parts.
“Nothing will stop me.” She whispered, steadying the hilt against her opposite wrist as another speared himself in a reckless rush.
Faris gave a gasp of exertion, flesh of the next and then the next parting with heavy meaty sounds and then growled low in her throat, a sharp and primitive agreement.
