Yoruichi is one of the few female characters allowed to be competent in a pretty heavily shounen series where the main character is predictably ludicrously overpowered and spends most of his time rescuing all the girls (and the occasional nerdy guy in glasses who likes to sew). I'm kinda burned out on the Shounen Jump plotline (they pretty much all have the same plotline, after all), but individual characters like her still have shiny bits left for me. (Plus in the Japanese edition of the anime, her catshape voice has got the speech patterns and approximate voice range of an eighty-year-old chainsmoking great-uncle... big rough burly guyvoice coming out of bitty little black cat...)
