Mod Post No. 2 : Rules
Yeah, this is the boring part.
1.: No drama. You know what drama is. Don't do it.
2. A: No Strings is intended to be a place where people can write anything they wish. They can do this one of two ways. Firstly, if they already have a partner they wish to log with, they use the following format before a cut text to warn their audience of any sort of behavior or interaction that might warrant a higher rating on a thread or log:
My Character:
[Your Partner's name/handle]'s Character:
The Set Up:
The Universe(s): (this means, essentially, if you're writing one of your characters from one game, and your partner is writing a character from another game. If neither character is currently in a game, just label this "AU".)
Rating: (If the log isn't done, just write what you suspect might happen. If the log is finished, complete this area with WHY it's marked as such - for language, violence, smut, etc).
2. B: The second way that one can post a log is to request a volunteer partner for a scene. For example, if you really want to log a scene with Harry returning back home after an assassination attempt, but you don't really care who's waiting for him at home, you simply use this format:
My Character:
My Character's Universe: (this means, essentially, if you're writing one of your characters from one game, which game it is. If your character isn't in a game, just label this "AU".)
Your Character: OPEN
Specifications: (this is the spot where if you care what sort of character will encounter yours, you make your say now. For example, say you want a romantic encounter with Harry's girlfriend, Ginny or otherwise. Just write it in this spot what you prefer. If you want to be surprised, just write OPEN.)
Genre: (Again, if you prefer to specify a genre, write it here. For the sake of clarity, and because I'm a whore, smut's a genre. If you don't care or want to keep things open, write OPEN here.)
Rating: (If the log isn't done, just write what you suspect might happen. If the log is finished, complete this area with WHY it's marked as such - for language, violence, smut, etc).
3.: You can write whatever you like within your logs. Fluff, smut, slash, an epic novel about the time that Madame Pince and Hagrid shared an ice cream cone. Whatever. Just make sure you utilize the Ratings specifications, and if your log takes a course you didn't expect, change those ratings accordingly.
4.: There's no activity requirement here - you don't have to finish a thread before starting a new one. There's only one rule here as to starting threads - please, only start one thread a day to keep the community from being maxxed out. One thread a day, one character a day - pretty easy, yeah?
5.: You are never under any obligation to reply to an open thread. Likewise, if you start an open thread and nobody replies to it, shrug it off or harass one of your friends to do it with you. This activity is meant to be fun, not torturous. If someone isn't comfortable with writing something, they don't have to do it, period.
6.: You'll notice that a lot of these rules and prompts are Harry Potter themed, but by no means do you have to play within that fandom exclusively. If you want other fandom characters involved, go for it! It's up to you and the other player to figure out how those two worlds have collided. If you want to write original characters, it's fine too.
7.: There's no application here. You can play whomever you want to play. It's fine if you join this community with a character's journal or with your CDJ. Your choice. Either way, go have some fun.
