Paige smiled. Kitty was important to her. A sister by soul instead of blood. And if it came down to stepping out, Paige would do it. But Kitty was Kitty, and there was no convincing her of that. So instead, she turned her attention to the other subjects being spoken about. The studio, Kitty wanting to be Ororo's second in command, and the adoption of June. There were a lot of things on Kitty's plate, much more than on hers, so it was only natural that Paige would want to help the woman. "I think we just need to take it a step at a time. At this point, I would think that the studio and June are the most important pieces of the puzzle. So focus on those two for now. If someone else gets named a second, then it might be a blessing in disguise." Paige had always been told by her mother that things happened for a reason. And hearing that June had been scared of her father... it had Paige's defenses on high alert. She couldn't stand parents that scared their kids. Especially one so small as June.
As for payment, well, Kitty was going to have to take no as an answer. Smirking, Paige thought it over for a moment. "Tell you what, consider it a studio warming gift," she stated, grinning, "and that's final. Well, and let me come in and sketch some of your kids too. While they're practicing of course." Paige liked to sketch people in candid states, not poses. That way it seemed more realistic. And as far as Paige was concerned, Kitty could use the sketches to decorate the place if she wanted to. Or she could sell them to make some more money for the studio. It wouldn't be much, but it might help a little bit.
Running a hand through her hair, Paige turned to look at Warren. He didn't appear to be blind, but well, she'd never thought to ask whether or not he swung the opposite way. So she decided to be a little bolder. "What about you, Warren? Are you gay?" Nothing like the straightforward questions to get straightforward answers. Even if it wasn't the most polite thing to do on the planet. But then again, Paige wasn't known to be polite all the time. Just... most of the time.
When Kitty took her hand in hers, Paige smiled and returned the squeeze. "Trust me, Kitten, Ah ain't goin' anywhere." Her accent slipped back in a little, but she didn't mind it for now. She'd hide it again next time she spoke. For now, Kitty was the important one. Not how she looked or spoke.
