Warren had been waiting in the sitting room for the past twenty minutes. He wasn't exactly sure when Kitty would be back so he'd brought a book and all the things he'd need for his conversation with her. Every so often he would check his watch but for the most part, Timeline by Michael Crichton was keeping him fairly well entertained. He wouldn't have even known Kitty had entered if it wasn't for the faint whiff of her perfume that came his way. He looked up quickly, went back to the book, then looked up again and gave a low whistle. "You clean up pretty well, Kit Kat. Kind of like a modern day Audrey Hepburn."
Her expression was priceless. It was all he could do not to crack a smile. Instead he closed his book with an air of nonchalance and looked at her. One arm draped across the back of the couch and his wings gave a slight rustling sound as he repositioned himself on the couch. "How's your day going? My phone rang a little earlier and it said it was you. You hung up before I could answer, though. Did you pocket dial?"
He had to be driving her nuts at this point. But Warren stayed cool and casual. He placed his book on the coffee table next to his constant companion, his laptop. on the other side of the computer was a thick folder of papers ready just for this moment. He looked at her, then at the book with hesitation. "Should I just finish my chapter and give you a minute?"
