To say Ororo was shocked would have been a gross understatement. She looked past Kitty, practically not even seeing her anymore, as soon as Scott was in the room. A face that was always a mask of perfect calm even during the hardest times, Ororo's expression read too many emotions to count: surprise, denial, relief, confusion. She didn't know what to feel. Here was a man she'd always loved as a brother, a man she'd mourned the loss of and felt his absence deeply. She rose slowly, graceful without trying, and walked around the desk to stand before him.
At some point Kitty had slipped away, but Ororo hardly noticed. She lifted a hand to touch the side of his face. She had to know he was really there. Stubble, rough under her fingers, was all the proof she needed. Without a word, she embraced him as Kitty had. She was not one to give in to tears, but this moment was one powerful enough to almost break her.
"How?" It was the only word that could form on her lips. Releasing him, she looked up into his face, wonder on her own. Logan was the one to find his glasses that day. There had been no other evidence of Scott even having been there. Coming to the conclusion he had died was not an easy one to come to, but the only logical answer.
"Come in," she said, a little breathless. The office was almost exactly the way Xavier had it set up, and Ororo led Scott to the sitting area to the side of the room. "Tell me everything."
