When he heard someone speaking, he was looking around the destruction wondering what caused it. The school had been a target before, but nothing like this. As the female voice spoke, he turned to see a girl. At first he didn't know who it was. It had been seven years since he was taken away, so a lot of people had been in and out of the school. When he let his brain shuffle through faces he knew, he finally knew it was Katherine Pryde. When he was last here, she was a student. A child. but clearly now a woman, and probably not a student anymore.
Before he could warmly greet her, she was telling him to 'Get out.' Not really the welcome he wanted, but honestly it was expected. He looked a little confused, but he soon regained himself. He wasn't really sure what to say. Maybe the students felt like he abandoned them. It didn't make sense because they thought he was dead, but it was possible.
"I'm just looking for Ororo, Miss Pryde."
Even if she was an adult now, and probably a capable member of the team...Scott still saw her as a teenager he had in his power defenses class. It would take time to get used to the kids being adults, and how to respond to them effectively.
"And maybe see if any of my stuff is here. Kind of a pain to wear the field visor every day." He walked on, like she didn't have a chance of stopping him. He wanted to find Storm, see if his stuff was still here, and see how he could help them rebuild. As he walked away from her, he got maybe three steps before he realized a factor he hadn't thought of until now.
They were mutants, and some mutants could shape shift. One of their greatest enemies had a shifter in his Brotherhood. Since Scott knew nothing about Mystique being depowered, he would have thought Kitty thought he was Raven...or someone like her. Here to play a trick, and break the X-men. Turning back, he walked to her placing a hand on her shoulder. Gripping gently, he spoke slow and soft with a hint of understanding.
"It's me, Miss Pryde. I have no way to prove it, and some girl named Laura said Jean and the Professor...are gone..." He sighed, but continued quickly to avoid a scene. "I am sure one of the other telepaths' can scan me and prove it. But for now I gotta find my old stuff..."
