Author's Note: Another resurrection from the archives. It's Torchwood. It happens.
It was Suzie first. It was right after she started working for Torchwood. Jack found her hunched over at her workstation, concentrating on some small piece of alien tech. He rubbed her shoulders, feeling the hard knots of frustration melt away with his touch. He lifted her hair and kissed her neck. He lifted her skirt and brought her to orgasm (twice), his long fingers knowing exactly how to touch her as if they had been lovers for a lifetime instead of near strangers.
It was an argument with Owen that brought things to a head (so to speak). A shoving, shouting match that turned into rough play against the wall, under the blue tiles that spelled out "TORCHWOOD" and ended with Owen on his knees. Later, Jack put a small sofa there. In case it happened again, they should be more comfortable.
It was Tosh who gently turned down his advances, explaining that while she found him dead sexy she didn't like to mix business and pleasure. Jack admired her for her honesty and spent three days following her around saying "dead sexy, huh?" until she tossed a half-empty takeaway container of pork-fried rice at his head. She missed, and ended up spending the rest of the afternoon retrieving rice from one of the many computer consoles.
It was Gwen he chose not to pursue. She had a boyfriend. She had a life outside of Torchwood. Someone had to have one. Someone had to remind them that they were (mostly) human and there was no way he was going to take that away from her. Initially, Gwen had struck him as the sort of woman who would only take up with someone if there was a hope of something long-lasting. Something he'd never be able to offer anyone.
It was Ianto who could reduce him to tears. It hadn't always been that way, but then there was the day when he discovered there was a lot more to him than a neatly pressed suit and magnificent coffee. It was the day after that that Jack learned Ianto was the one worthy of being called "Sir".
