A human has no magical ability whatsoever. Some of them have a heightened sense of the Supernatural world around them, but they oftentimes pretend it doesn’t exist. They run businesses, the form friendships and relationships, and sometimes, find themselves in more trouble than they bargained for.
A witch (female) and a warlock (male) are magical humans who are able to perform charms by non-verbal and verbal spells or with the use of magic wands (this is highly frowned upon while out in human society). They can transfigure objects to become other objects, and they can mix potions that will cure just about anything that ails you. They look like regular, every day humans. The power of a witch/warlock varies with each person. A witch/warlock can be transformed into a vampire as they have human blood. They also age slower than your average human, having a lifespan of around 200 years.
A slayer/hunter is a person who specializes in finding and destroying vampires, shifters, and sometimes other supernatural creatures. They are usually described as having extensive knowledge of vampires and other monstrous creatures, including their powers and weaknesses, and uses this knowledge to effectively combat them. They heal faster than your average human and they have quicker reflexes. A slayer/hunter can be transformed into a vampire as they have human blood.
A ghost is the life essence that is left after a body perishes. They can with practice, manifest themselves as a solid “person”, but this is very draining and most cannot do it for very long. They can slam doors, move objects and become a general pain in the arse if they are so inclined. They cannot be transformed and they are immortal.
Vampires are mythological beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures (animal or human). Vampires do not have to kill their prey in order to survive (in fact this is frowned upon as it usually leads to those pesky Hunters coming around and causing trouble). They can consume human food (it tends to make them feel nauseated, but it helps them “blend in”). A vampire’s bite can be either pleasurable or painful, depending on the intent behind it. They have the power of persuasion. Vampires appear to be paler than normal humans in regards to skin colour. Their canines are slightly longer than a normal human’s and extend when it’s time for feeding. Their eyes are normal shades that turn black when hungry. They do not have shadows, and they cannot be out in the sunlight unless they are wearing a special ring (Lapis Lazuli). These rings are not common however, so there will be some vampires that still have to "hide" during the day. And fortunately, they do not sparkle. Vampires can be killed either by stake through the heart, decapitation, or being set on fire. Crosses and holy water will burn them, garlic has no effect, although they do not like the smell of it. Otherwise, they are immortal.
A dhampir is the child of a vampire father and a human mother with characteristics of both species. Like their vampire fathers, they do not have shadows, have supernatural strength and agility and can use persuasion. Like their human mothers, they do not need blood to sustain life. They are known to be adept at locating and killing vampires due to heightened senses. They are not bothered by crosses or holy water, and can only be killed by decapitation or fire. A dhampir can be transformed into a vampire as they have human blood.
A shapeshifter is a human who can take on the image of another human/creature, also known as "shifting". This is either voluntary or involuntary depending on the creature. Demons have this ability as well however unlike demons, shapeshifters cannot perform any other forms of magic. If a shapeshifter takes on the form of an animal, they also gain the abilities of that animal. Some examples of shifting include taking the form of a wolf (the most commonly known form often called "werewolf") however, there are also those that can shit into a feline (usually taking on the form of Mountain Lions or other large cats), canine, even foxes and rats. Males are able to reproduce, however females are now. Shifters are born, so if you get bitten by one, don’t worry. It’ll just hurt like a bitch, nothing else. Silver works against these animals, whether it be a stake or bullet, however it must go through their heart. They also age slower than your average human, having a lifespan of around 500 years.
Demons (male) and demonesses (female) are supernatural creatures who can either be good or evil although the term as of late is usually meant for an evil spirit. Demons/demonesses come in many forms and fashions - demons of fate, incubus/succubus, familiars, drudes and goblins. They appear human in nature and have the ability to shapeshift as well as possess other species whether it be for extended or short periods of time. Their other magical abilities depend on what classification they fall under. Their eye colors can appear normal, or they can choose to show their "true" color. True colors are either black, white or yellow. Holy water will burn them, and they can be "expelled" from their host body through exorcism. They are immortal.
Faeries (or fae) are generally described as human in appearance and having magical powers. They are tall, radiant, angelic beings who do in fact have wings which they normally conceal using magic. Fae are noted for their mischief and malice; however, most of their pranks are rather harmless. This isn’t to say that significant damage cannot be done by a faerie, just that it is rare. Each faerie is connected to an element - earth, air, water, fire and ether - which controls the type of magic they can perform. They are immortal.
