Hideki's living quarters had always struck Gendo as a little strange. Not exactly the quarters, but the building that they were housed in was a little run down in his opinion. It wasn't as though his unit was incredibly posh, but it did have a slightly more polished look about it. Not like his parents' home, but he wasn't living on their dime and hadn't been for years, and he preferred to be a little more discreet about his present life anyway. Perhaps that's what Hideki had been thinking when he picked this place, Gendo thought as he stepped through into the familiar confines of the elevator, pressing the button for the top floor.
The doors drew closed, and with a little tremble, began to ascend. He checked his watch. It was just around one o'clock. He wasn't too worried about Hideki being asleep. He'd definitely have been up for a long time by now, unless he really was very badly injured, and Gendo would be pretty angry if that was the case. How reckless would it be just to lie around hoping something that bad would heal? No, certainly, he thought Hideki was probably in okay shape, at least, and awake.
Tucked under his arm against his side was a brown bag. Within it were a few sandwiches and other assorted things; one sandwich was meant for him, but since he figured Hideki was probably lying low, he thought he might be nice and bring a few extra things for him to eat later. No doubt, someone else would have already thought of this and made sure to have kept him fed and in good health, but he doubted free food would be turned away. Plus, they probably had a few things that could bear discussing over lunch; if nothing else, a bit of celebration over the fact that one way or another, they had managed a pretty amazing hit and with, it presently seemed 100% success. The elevator shuddered to a halt, a sharp, 'ping' ringing out as the doors slid open and Hideki stepped into the hallway outside the door to the penthouse apartment and rang the bell.
