Mady is bored. Who: Mady and OPEN Where: Portofino, Uptown When: April 8 What: Mady is working.
It wasn't an awful job, not really. Some days, Mady really enjoyed interacting with people and helping them find what they need. Other days, she felt nearly bored to tears, especially when business was slow. This particular day, business was dragging and Mady had already rearranged to jewelry display three times. She had resorted to wiping the glass display, something she usually didn't like to do when customers were about but there were few patrons milling about the store and it gave her something to do.
It was times like those when Mady would reflect on where she was in life. She could honestly say that she had never projected herself to be where she was. She never thought she'd think it but at least the criminal part of her job was less boring, even if it did give Mady an unsettling feeling that she tried not to dwell on. Well, a job was a job and even she had to admit that she was well set up, despite her reservations. If nothing else, she was able to keep an eye on her brother. After what happened with Marcus, it was somehow easier to have Anthony within arms reach, even if she had never been quite as close with Anthony.
Mady wiped the counter one more time and stowed the rag, suppressing the urge to sigh. She glanced toward the security camera screens out of habit but everything looked normal. Part of her job was monitoring business, not just for thieves but to ensure that things were run to Oleander satisfaction. She had access to many things that most didn't realize for that purpose but right now, even those channels were coming up dry and uninteresting. Well, she could always polish the jewelry again, she thought, glancing at the display, hoping for something to break up the monotony of the day.
