WHO: Elijah Worthington and Chris Summers
WHAT: Sekrit~ training and dinner
WHERE: Chris' residence; Manhattan, New York
WHEN: Tuesday evening
RATING: PG-13 [COMPLETE]

The instant Elijah woke up to a phone call from Betsy raving about the news on the Prophets of Delphi he had a sinking feeling that today was going to be one hell of a day. His expectations weren't let down as the young heir spent the majority of his day trying to keep his parents from reclaiming the mantle of their former champion days and still managing the foundation. It was between calming his riled up parents and work that a promise for a break to the engulfing tension was presented. A sparring match and dinner with an old friend. Objectively Elijah was thrilled about the prospect of training with Chris, not for the chance of hanging out with an acquaintance but because Chris was willing to seek out the potential that laid at his fingertips.

Even with the promise of the evening before him, both men still had the rest of their day to contend with. Even if it was punctuated with the brief debate on what were their mothers' thinking with those old uniforms? His work day continued to flow along considerably well. The news that kept trickling in about the Prophets leaving an unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach with every update. He hoped the authorities could resolve this mess and that no more tragedies would have to befall a wounded society. Especially now that his family was involved in the investigation.

Elijah kept such troubling thoughts at bay as he focused on his work. Thanks to the donation Chris had given the Foundation he was more on track to expanding his organization further along. The prospect for the future of his business was something that made the day lighter.

Once early evening rolled around Elijah finally packed things up and left the office, with each step trying to clear his mind of the mental roller coaster he'd been on all day. His efforts were in vain as his cell phone began to ring again. He got into his cab and finally answered the phone after a cautious look at the caller ID. This was the fourth call he had with the woman today. Clearly she was fired up.

"Hello mum," the greeting was warm and carried the faintest accent as Elijah fell in cadence with his mother. The conversation, like the others, started out polite and warm then it turned to a debate. "Mum, don't do anything impulsive. You know what the media is saying. The feds and Interpol are looking into the matter. This isn't reason for you and dad to come out of retirement. You guys can get hurt and we don't even know what these Prophets are or what they intend to do. Let the officials take care of this... please."

It was a simple plea, a devoted son trying to keep his parents safe even though he knew that Betsy was incredibly stubborn. (He did get that streak from her) The debate continued all the way home until finally Betsy agreed to exercise some faith in the authorities. For now. A sigh of relief finally escaped Eli as he made his way inside. Finally home and with little time to get to Christian's, Eli did his best to put as much of the day as he could behind him. The telepath washed up and changed into something more appropriate for training. A simple white tank and a pair of track pants- all custom SPLICE gear. Of course. But Eli knew some parts of his wardrobe needed to be oriented to his abilities.

While Elijah got ready for the work out, he roamed his lavish apartment in search of what the pair would need. Pads and gloves for them, padded targets to refine Christian's technique. His attention lingered on the glass case in his living room, which displayed the two twin katana blades Betsy had given him when he turned 18. They were custom suited for the right weight and density of Elijah's skill, yet held a deep sentiment for the young man. He debated bringing the blades to show Chris proper sword work but ultimately dismissed the idea. Perhaps next time he'd start training the man how to use a blade like a ninja. For now Eli packed the rest of his gear into a duffel bag and slipped on his old NYU hoodie before loading up and heading out for the night.

With the idea of working out now to the front of his mind, Elijah held no patience for coventional means of travel. He knew where Chris lived and figured if he focused enough he could swoop by unnoticed. Instead of leaving through the front door of his apartment Elijah stepped out to the balcony outside of his bedroom. The spring air wrapped around him with the promise of a warmer season. He approached the edge of the balcony and looked down at the street below. Seven floors was a long way down. Yet the psion could feel the kinetic charge of energy pulse through him in excitement. He tried not to be so blatant with his use of powers, but some habits were hard to break.

Elijah carefully climbed over the edge of balcony's railing, looking down as the air tempted him with it's call. Before someone could yell "don't jump!", Elijah let go of the railing and let his body lean forward. Gravity grasped the heir's body and began to pull him down. The air rushing around him as he began to fall. It took a mere thought but before Eli was fated to meet his maker, instead a burst of psionic energy erupted from his back and a pair of violet wings appeared. The young heir curved back into the skies and began to slice through the air with ease. His wings flapping in time with him as those who noticed on the ground, it appeared that Eli was no more than a violet-colored seraphim that had taken flight. The telekinetic energy he projected while in flight was finely tuned and carefully controlled to steer him in the right direction. He knew when to use the right amount of energy to push against the winds and when to merely glide, all as his wings mimicked his thoughts and aided him in expressing his flight. Elijah made sure to stay high enough in the sky to keep his identity hidden. Soon enough he noticed the landmarks around him and found himself circling Christian's neighborhood. A playful smirk tugged at his lips as he made a dive towards the building Chris lived in. It was like a hawk or eagle going after it's prey with how fast his movements were. But the grace Eli displayed as he landed on the stoop without a sound was purely him. When he sat foot on the ground, Eli's wings faded away much to his chagrin.

The young man looked at the doorman who witnessed the spectacle with an amused expression as the stranger stood there with his jaw halfway to China. Eli Worthington knew how to make an entrance, what could he say? While the doorman collected himself Eli approached him with a genuine grin.

"Hi, I'm here to see Chris Summers. Can you buzz him to let him know I've arrived?" it was another staggered moment before the doorman rang Chris to announce his arrival. Eli distinctly catching the phrase, "some man... with purple wings, or well, he had wings." He grinned to himself before he was shown to the elevator and informed which floor Chris lived on.

The ride was empty and Eli had to admit that Chris had done well for himself by getting such a place. When he finally arrived on Chris' floor he walked down the hallway to the only door on the floor, "Nice." He mused out loud as he knocked on the door and shifted around pensively. Playfully he tapped into the fountain of power inside him and evoked that connection to the other. Scanning the apartment until he locked onto the presence he knew as Chris.

'C'mon Christian, don't keep your company waiting at the door. It's not polite', he mentally teased the man with a grin as he studied the door in focus. 'Plus I'm totally freezing in this speedo.' If that wasnt incentive enough for Chris to answer the door than Eli didn't know what was!

The morning news had been a shocker, and the ensuing procession of voice mail messages from dad only compounded the bad feelings, but Chris dealt as best as he could. He cancelled all out-of-office meetings for the rest of the week, and all in-office meetings for the rest of the day. He kept to his office, still having enough work in there to keep himself busy while getting a handle on the situation between keeping a constant eye on the news and consulting with friends online. The latter especially helped to ease the tension Chris was feeling. Humor was a good source of medicine. In addition to that, he'd realized that sparring some would help him feel better. He was glad that Eli was able to so quickly agree with his thoughts, as if they were of one mind, only separated by distance.

The rest of the day went by quickly, Chris was back home before he knew it. He didn't have to worry about cleaning for company, he had people how did that for him. He did, however, give thought to his own appearance. He went into the huge walk-in closet that connected to the master bedroom and master bath, and found his training uniform, a looser fitting tog he could wear later for meditation, and something to cook iun and lounge around in after all the training was through. Chris changed into the training uniform, pleased that the blue and gold still fit him well, although the material itself wasn't the most comfortable thing to have stretched across his body. He barely had time to think about anything else when the buzzer for the intercom went off. Chris answered, amused but slightly worried when Joe, the doorman, described the visitor. Chris assured Joe that he was expecting him and to let him up.

Chris moved through the apartment and into one of the extra bedrooms, which he'd turned into an exercise / sparring room. One of the walls was completely mirrored so he could critique his movements. A large mat was in the center room for sparring, other exercise equipment to the periphery of it. Chris quickly set about moving the exercise machines back against the walls to give more room. He'd pushed the last one back when he heard the knock on the door. "Coming!", he shouted out as an immediate reaction.

Chris walked out into the large main room of the apartment. The room was easily the size of a ballroom. A kitchen and dining area was at the far end of the space, and there was also a large open area for entertaining and lounging. Chris walked a short distance toward the front door, passing his baby grand piano and a small table in the foyer that had an array of picture frames on it. They were filled with snapshots of family and friends, some more recently received photos of two childhood friends were sitting without frames on the polished wood surface of the table. Chris smiled as he felt the telepathic connection open between them.

The shock would have easily been felt by Eli at Chris's reaction to his comment. He wouldn't put it past Eli to pull such a stunt. 'No wonder why Joe sounded so flustered on the intercom!', Chris thought back to him. Despite the teasing, he had doubts about the comment, and finally getting to the door and opening it, the doubts were proven right. No Speedo, though Eli looked good as always in what he was wearing. "Tease", he said with a smile, stepping forward for a brief but friendly hug.

At the surprising first reunion between the two of them a couple of weeks ago, Chris had kept a reserved politeness to him through most of that time. But more recently, over the computer, a more relaxed, flirtatious side of him had been making itself known. Chris found himself feeling the same old 'friend' feelings easily rekindled, but also felt that spark of actual attraction as well. Having been around telepaths enough in his life, he decided it wasn't worth trying to hide. It was what it was. What was most important to him was their friendship, if Eli picked up on hints of attraction here and there, he could hopefully take it as a compliment and not let it bother him.

Chris took a few steps back, ushering Eli into his apartment. "Come on in", he said, aware of his own appearance and wanting the door shut the quicker the better, even though there weren't neighbors on his floor to see the odd sight. "You brought props?", he asked, eyeing the duffel bag. "Good. Don't have much here, usually work out solo. Come this way", he instructed, turning and leading the way across the room toward the door leading into his workout room. He walked in and across the mat on the floor, stopping at the far edge of it and turning back to face Eli. "So, where do you want to start?" The day had given Chris plenty of energy that he was ready to work off now.

Ok, now Eli understood why their parents wore such revealing outfits. Did Chris always look so... so... tempting, or was this new?

Even thought their mental link was still flowing, Elijah managed to keep any and all thoughts on Chris' appearance to himself. Even if his eyes flashed a deeper interest on the feast before him. Pushing past that potential awkwardness, Eli was met with a warm hug he quickly returned. His mind pressing against Chris' in further elaboration of the hug. As he was ushered inside Eli let out a low whistle as he remembered that yes, there was a lavish apartment to be seen. And not just an extremely cute friend in an extremely tight outfit.

"Wow Chris, your place is gorgeous. But I don't know... it seems kinda small..." his voice of course echoed in the living area when he said. "And I can't believe you actually wore the suit," he added as he returned his focus to the other man who was leading him towards the training room. Eyes shamelessly taking a glance at Chris' strong back. "I would've brought my old one but it's kinda small on me after I hit that growth spurt." Not to mention he was convinced his ass looked huge in it. But Eli was not without his opinions.

"I didn't bring much stuff, just some pads and gear to keep things safe. I was going to bring the katanas but I couldn't find the old practice blades from when mom trained me, so we'll have to hold off on sword work for another time." His musing lingered in the air as Eli entered the training room. Wow. Chris really had set his place up nicely; the young heir was impressed and felt that excitement dripping from the other become infectious. This was going to be fun, even if Eli knew he might have to mop the floor with Chris.

As the pair settled into the room, Eli sat the bag down and began to unload the gear he brought. The array of pads to keep them safe and a pair of gloves to prevent any accidental triggering of abilities neatly laid out on the edge of the mat. "I figured we'd just keep things relaxed that way we can measure where your skill level is at. I brought some sparring gloves for us both that way you don't have to worry about well..." he raised a hand and wiggled his fingers. He wanted Chris to feel comfortable training around him and not worry so much about his powers lashing at Elijah.

With all the gear unloaded and set-aside for the time being, Eli grinned at Christian's eagerness. "First thing's first, we gotta get you stretched out before we start. Don't want you pulling a muscle on me." He teased as he peeled off his hoodie and exposed the simple tank on underneath. It wasn't a revealing X-suit but it flattered his sinewy physique. Eli led them to the center of the mat as mentally he put himself in the right state of mind to train. Without knowing it, he unconsciously began to fall into the habits he picked up from training with Betsy. For example his stride changing and Elijah's footsteps no longer heard with each step. While the link with Christian remained in place, Elijah could hear the stir of thoughts going on in the other's head. He needed get Chris centered otherwise that energy would work against the man.

"As you stretch I want you to do yoga breathing. Inhale for a 4 count, pause and hold it for a second then exhale for a 3 count." He demonstrated, mentally projecting the count to the other as he inhaled. '4, 3, 2, 1... pause... now, 3, 2, 1.' the core of most of these arts lied in the ability to keep yourself centered no matter what. If Chris could master centering his focus then the training would come easier to him. Elijah lead Chris to a small series of basic stretches and standard yoga poses to force the man to relax and forget about the stresses on his mind. Elijah made great note to take great care of easing Chris into things; the challenging part of things would come soon enough. Of course like most things in life, Elijah didn’t hesitate to inject his playful nature into things with Chris. It was during a yoga stretch that he bent into a dorsal bend and grinned to himself as he expected the other to mimic him. Not that he wouldn’t take great note if Chris were that limber. Again that internal debate was shoved aside once more as he rose from the mat and faced the other man.

"I'll try to keep things as chilled as possible, but what I want you to do the whole time is just be aware of what your body is telling you. Your power is constant on so you should be able to sense that energy. While we may not be able to get you to shut if off instantly, becoming aware of what you project may be able to help you get a better grasp on it. All of our abilities have certain signifying signs to us, so it's a matter of us being able to acknowledge that and learning to work with them." His words were soothing as he moved around Chris and picked up a pair of gloves and a punching pad to use. "You ready?" he asked with an excited grin as he handed the man the gloves and slipped the punching pads on his hand to give Chris a target to punch at. And so the games began.

Chris laughed at Elijah's comments about his apartment. The initial compliment was brushed off, as he couldn't imagine a Worthington being impressed by his place. Chris thought it suited him fine, and his dad thought it was lavish and excessive, but his mother referred to it as a shanty. It was amusing to hear Elijah saying it was small, and Chris wouldn't be surprised if it was, compared to the Worthington heir's bachelor pad.

"Of course I wore the suit", Chris said, pushing away thoughts of self-consciousness. It was all out there to see, nothing he could do about it now. "Safety first, right?" He was being conscious of both his own safety and Eli's. "I'm surprised your mom didn't make you a new one", Chris said of the uniforms. The comment reminded him of their chatting about thongs earlier in the day. He didn't mention it with words, but his thoughts undoubtedly betrayed him, as did the grin on his face. "I stopped training with dad just before I turned seventeen. This thing's old, but still fits." Which was a good testimony for the exercise regimen that Chris kept for himself.

Chris watched Eli start to unload everything. "We don't need swords, that's fine", Chris said. "I won't be using one, and doubt I'll ever be in a situation where I'm fighting someone with one." He was more concerned on brushing up on the basics for now. Simple sparring would be just fine. When Eli pulled out the gloves he brought, Chris pulled off the long, yellow ones he was wearing with his uniform, laying them across one of the nearby weight machines.

He was feeling ready and simply nodded when Eli mentioned warming up. "Yeah, didn't get a chance to do that yet", he admitted. His eyes were caught by Eli's frame as he shed his jacket, readying for a work out. He wasn't at all bulky, but very well-defined nonetheless. This was one of those moments Chris knew he'd end up having where he couldn't stop the thoughts, though they stayed at an innocent(?) appreciation for the man's form.

He followed Eli toward the center of the mat, wondering what Eli would have them start with. Chris was letting him take the lead as Chris had asked him for assistance and not vice versa. Chris followed the verbal and mental instructions. He wasn't a novice to exercise, so he followed Eli's lead easily, first with the breathing and centering, then with the exercises themselves. And Chris's mind did begin to clear of random thoughts and distractions, focusing on only the moment. That is, until Eli did that dorsal bend. Chris didn't follow suit right away, and a smirk led to a chuckle. "I don't think so", Chris said. 'Not in this outfit', he thought to himself. "Are you trying to break me before we start?", he joked. It wasn't a matter of could he, it was more him refusing to. "I think I'm stretched out enough", he said, smirk still on his face.

Chris nodded at Eli's instruction. For now, he was content to not worry about his mutation and wail on the other guy for a while. He had to admit that he didn't really feel that awareness of his power like others said he should, at least not until it was actually being used. But maybe this was something he could develop, like Luke Skywalker learning to feel the Force. The slightly off-topic thought made him smile. "I'm ready", he said. "Let me try these on for size", he said as he took them from Chris. He found that they did fit well and were more comfortable than the spandex ones. "These'll work good to train in", he assessed.

Finally really ready, Chris started. He advanced against Eli, getting that the other man wanted to get an initial assessment of what he was capable of. Chris threw a few simple jabs before moving on to progressively more complicated and more skilled moves using a combination of jabs and kicks. Eli was doing well holding his own, and all Chris was trying to do to start was to tag the targets with some amount of force. After a few moments of this, Chris was feeling his energy again, the adrenaline pumping through him. He'd put on a pretty impressive show for Eli as Chris had done well with keeping up on his practicing on his own. "So", he said between short breaths. "You gonna go ninja on me or what?"

Elijah's comment on the size of the apartment was purely in jest, after all when the main room to your apartment can rival most ballrooms. Somehow referring to it as small seemed out of the question. While Christian's parents held mixed emotions about his residence, it had been a battle for Eli to talk his own parents out of purchasing him some grandiose residence. He didn’t feel he deserved something outlandish but ultimately compromised with Warren and Betsy on something they all felt was acceptable. However those memories were shoved aside as Christian's mind betrayed him and reminded Elijah of their previous discussion and the mythed purple-outfit. Elijah chuckled at the other's expression and shook his head at the other man. Even if Eli didn’t say (or think) it, he was sticking to the conviction that he was the one Braddock that didn’t wear such revealing outfits. At least publicly.

Eli had to admire the other's build and for being able to fit into his old suit. It certainly spoke well of the kind of shape Christian kept himself in. He lamented, "The last suit I had was from when I was 18 and even then, it's not too short on me. I can probably squeeze into it but I'd look like a kid who put on his shrunken clothes from the dryer if I tried it on now." Absently he toyed with the idea of asking Betsy to get him a new suit, granted given the recent circumstances presented in the media Elijah knew that if he asked such a thing his mother would get even more fired up. Which truthfully he didn’t have the patience for at the moment.

As the pair entered the warm up portion of the evening that sparks of interest continued to make it's presence felt between them. Elijah occasionally taking notice of the way Chris' silhouetted his frame. Taking fine appreciation of the man across from him even if his own thoughts weren’t as easily noted. When he did the bend he smirked again at the other's reaction. Oh he loved pushing the other's buttons just to hear his mind flare up with a stream of thoughts. Granted Chris kind of shattered his hopes by refusing to do the bend in return. Then again could he blame the man for such a thing when he was nothing more than a glorified leotard?

Once they were suited up and Chris began to punch at the padded mit, Eli's focus returned sharply. He studied the way Chris followed through with each blow. Studying the way man carried his weight with each strike and the way his body moved with each jab or kick. Not bad, not bad at all. Eli mused inwardly as he took his assessment. Considering Chris had practiced on his own for a while now, Eli was impressed with the good form the man kept on his own.

"Stay centered and fluid, if you lock yourself with every hit it'll make it harder for you to switch into another move." He noted as the padded mit was met with another blow. It was simple guidance aimed to help Chris refine his skill but he knew the other was just warming up. When Chris delivered his final blow Eli found himself grinning proudly at the other man. "You made it sound like you weren’t certain of your skills when we talked. You have really good form, just stay a little limber and you'll find yourself able to move quicker." His praise lingered in the air until Chris started to taunt him.

Oh, it was so on now.

He cocked a brow at the other man as he began to remove the padded mit, "I am. I was just making sure you got warmed up first." he pointed out as he moved to the rest of the gear and grabbed his own pair of gloves. Elijah slipped on some of the required pads and tossed a set to Chris. "Suit up." there was a competitive air building between them as Elijah began to put on his own pads.

"We'll do this competition style. 2 point for a direct, solid hit. None for blocked hits and minus 1 point for any illegal shots. So no going after my junk, Christian." he warned with a playful smirk as strapped on the last of the gear and approached man. "Otherwise I may have to seek retribution." Double-etendre or a threat of vengeance?

With the pair finally in the center of the mat again, Elijah did a respectful bow to Elijah before he rose into his battle stance. Weight centered and eyes narrowed in focus. He was determined to kick Chris' cute butt all over the floor now. "Ichi... Ni..." the words counted out in Japanese, "San!" and with that Eli commenced the spar with swift kick. Chris blocked it thankfully but Elijah used it to put space between them. Forcing the man onto his instincts and making him pounce; the young heir delivering a few punches and a fierce roundhouse kick that nailed Chris in the side. Two points so far, but their dance just commenced and Eli was curious to see what the other had to deliver. Each punch and kick was delivered with a powerful force, his movements quick and graceful. As the pair began to spar it became quite evident how much Eli had picked up from Betsy and that a part of him retained his mother's ferocity in battle.

Chris was just warming up with his first few moves, but still he recognized good counsel when he heard it. He gave Eli a mental nod of acknowledgment as he continued to show his moves for the other man. When he finished and moved back into a defensive posture, he worked to slow his breaths as he heard what else Eli had to say. "Thanks", Chris responded between breaths. He gave another nod at the comment about quickness, he knew that was a weakness of his, though he was sure he could do better still than what he just had.
Summers caught the pads that Eli threw to him as the other man started to ready to spar. Chris wasn't the most competitive of people, but only because his father was. But he was as stubborn and strong-willed as both his parents put together. He quickly slipped on the pads, readying his body and mind both for the match. His head nodded as Eli shot off the rules to him. At the last one, he had to smirk. "I'm not the kind of guy to go for cheap shots", Chris said. He'd caught the undertone of the comment, even though it had been said very seriously. In his mind, he thought, 'Trying to distract me? Not fair. Maybe he doesn't think he can take me in a fair fight.' He of course didn't really believe that, was thinking it more for Eli's sake, if the telepath was still tuned in. Chris could provoke with the best of them.

Though Chris's training with his father had been stressful to say the least, it certainly had been beneficial. When he'd been warming up, his thoughts had been easily betraying to Eli what he was about to do. It was not so now. Chris did think on his first move as he took the initiative and moved forward. It was to be a feign to the left, then move right and strike. But when Chris did move to the left, he kept going, using the moment's advantage he'd given himself to strike out at Eli. He moved quickly, actions happening as soon as he thought them, not giving away his next move mentally. Still, Eli did have the speed advantage, and Chris was seeing right from the start, and advantage in skill as well. Belatedly, he realized he should've had Eli practice his moves for Chris too. Chris had probably given Eli plenty of time to strategize against what he was now trying to do.

While Eli appreciated that his friend wasn’t the type to take such a cheap shot a person. An underlying competitive side to his nature began to slowly emerge as the pair prepared for their match. Even though Eli's playful nature came as an influence from his mother's side of the family there was this constant drive of wanting to do his best in things. It didn’t necessarily mean winning every challenge he faced but ensuring that he put his whole effort into things and made a substantial impression. Thankfully this drive when coupled with his own ferocity while sparring added to the strength of his fighting skills. Then again. Would anything less be expected from the son of a ninja?

Elijah was genuinely impressed with the amount of fight Chris had in him. Chris had started off thinking too much about his strategy, the young heir pleased when his friend began to let his technique come out more instinctually. Eli could hear that buzz of thoughts in the other's head slow down to mere impulses firing off with each hit. While Eli had adopted Betsy's technique of reading his opponent while in combat, as a sign of respect he had detached himself from their link. Leaving a genuine element of surprise between the pair as they battled.

Each block and strike the other delivered was 100% impulse and using their own skills. Eli managed to land two more hits on Chris before things began to turn around for the eldest Summers child. Eli lunged to block a kick from the man and much to his genuine surprise Chris landed a punch in Eli's side. A grunt escaped the telepath as his eyes flashed interest. Oh, the boy had tricks up his sleeve!

Eli retaliated with another swift kick to only have it blocked by the man. He had to doubt if Chris was baiting him by saying he was rusty. Where Chris lagged in speed he had strength in his that impressed Elijah. The battle continuing along at a heated pace as Eli continued to challenge Chris. Believing that the other could and would rise to call. Baring witness to the strength Chris had and being allowed to see this side of the man made that budding attraction grow more. A risk of a distraction to Eli's focus.

Elijah detached himself from the telepathic link and all that psionic energy was building up like mad inside his body. Coursing through his very core as Elijah kept fighting. It was the kinetic movement of everything but Eli could feel his body begin to spark with the other projection of his ability. It was an intoxicating crescendo of power that was building in him, one that could overtake him if he wasnt careful. Another grunt escaped Eli as Chris somehow managed to land a kick that had Eli fall back, eyes narrowed fiercely in the desire for retaliation. He'd have to be careful not to let his energy lash out at the other with an arrow. The last thing anyone needed was to be struck by one of those. However the telepath knew his training taught him how to handle such situations, he'd keep himself controlled. Hopefully.

Chris charged at Eli with his next round of attacks, the telepath deciding to test the other's patience. He dropped down to the ground quickly and swept his foot out in a low kick. The kick catching Chris in his legs and knocking the man down onto his side. It was a sign of the instincts Eli often tried to repress. That craving for bloodlust he fought. Without realizing Elijah pounced at Chris and landed partially on him. Fist drawn back with an ominous glow wrapped around it. An arrow on the cusp of being created and ready to be jammed into his opponent. He would've delivered a finishing blow but Eli snapped out of that mood quickly.

His eyes locked on cerulean ones. Ones that brought a comfort to him and reminded of the past. Ones that intrigued him. Eli needed to stop before he did something he regretted.

"S-sorry..." he panted out in a husky tone. His voice empty of that warmth it usually carried.

No other words offered as Eli rose and backed off, motioning for the other to rise. He hadn’t meant to get carried away but instead gave Chris a chance to continue the tango between them. A sign of respect and unspoken vow to keep things even between them. Especially now that Eli realized he needed to work much more on his self-control.

Though Chris could rationalize the advantages that Eli had over him in this matchup, the more they sparred, the more Chris's stubbornness was coming out. Eli was doing a great job of bringing out Chris's fighting spirit. It was probably that he'd managed to land two hits in a row, and Chris wasn't going down in a landslide defeat, if any at all. His punches were starting to be thrown harder, with more force. It wasn't that he wanted to hurt Eli, that was the last thing he wanted, but he had been holding back just a bit at first. He wasn't now.

As he did land a punch on Eli's side, Chris didn't pause to pat himself on the back, but kept going. Eli had recovered quickly and was blocking him again, even starting to get back onto the offensive after a moment. Though Chris's blocks felt as if they were only barely being effective, they were working. He didn't like being on the defensive, and didn't stay there for long. It was an intense matchup, as both were taking what shots they could, neither one letting up for a moment. It was a hell of a workout, just what Chris needed, he was feeling alive in a way he hadn't for quite a while.

A kick onw connected to Eli, and it seemed that now the ninja's gloves were figuratively coming off. The intensity of their battle hung in the air so thick it could nearly be tasted. Chris was feeling at an advantage, and was pressing it. It was at the moment of pride that he took a fall. The sweeping kick took him by surprise and before Chris could even comprehend what was happening, he was on his back, the combined impact of his landing and Eli's landing on him knocking the wind out of him. The sudden weight on top of him was uncomfortable and he suddenly found himself staring at Eli's fist, the purple haze of an arrow extending from it.

Chris's eyes were wide, but not with fright. He had never seen this aspect of Eli's power before, and though the danger was present, Chris didn't find himself fearing it. This was Eli. He wouldn't hurt him. It was probably a stupid sentiment to have, but it was a matter of fact to him. The pause on Eli's part was enough to make Chris realize how fast his heart was beating, how much he was sweating. The physical contact for a moment reminded Chris of something else that is intensely physical and exerting, and was something he hadn't experienced in too long.

Chris hadn't wanted his mind to go there, and it was welcome when Eli got off of him. Chris caught his breath before answering, "Don't." He didn't think the other had anything to apologize for. He rose to his feet, not as fast as before. "You're quick", he assessed with a hint of a smile. "Didn't even see it coming."

Chris didn't think that Eli had taken it too far, but he could tell the other had thought so. When they squared off against one another again, Eli seemed more defensive, more cautious. The odd respite had slowed Chris as well. He had apparantly forgotten to quiet his mind as well, his thoughts all over the place. Even though Eli seemed to be going a little easy or gentle on Chris, which Chris did not approve of, it wasn't long before Eli'd caught in with another punch, square in the chest this time. Chris stumbled back but stayed on his feet. His hands went forward in a gesture of surrender. Somehow something had changed with this exercise, and it didn't feel as helpful as it had been at first.

"I think that calls it", Chris said between breaths. "Time to wow me with your meditation-fu. I need some serious centering." How was it that a few seconds of contact, not even skin to skin, could kill his concentration so? It was a small favor that Eli's hair was not visibly purple and Chris wasn't feeling the comfortable presence of the other man in his head. Chris began to undo the pads, letting them fall to the ground. The uniform was stifling hot, so after he'd gottn the borrowed gloves off, the top half of the training outfit was peeled off of his sweat-glistened body, falling to the floor in a blue and gold heap. Once that was done, Chris sat down in a corsslegged position on the mat, He rested his hands on his legs and awaited Eli to join him.

There was a new element added to the situation between the pair. While their match was aimed to help Chris get in the habit of training again, it instead evoked new and inexplicable feelings out of the woodwork. Eli would've blamed it on the kinetic aspect of the fight. So much physical energy put out there between two people who held lingering attractions? Things were bound to get intense. But for every bit of sexual tension between them there was this conflicted feeling of Elijah trying to distinguish Chris not only as his childhood friend but the man he'd grown into. The record scratch of Elijah lunging at Chris in a fit of power and displaying the aggressive side of his mutation shattered that debate.

Truthfully Eli would never hut Chris, or anyone he cared about. For all the ferocity he kept pent up it was matched by a compassionate nature that wanted everyone safe. However when the heir was swept up in the moment and so lost in the intoxicating lull of combat... we'll, it became apparent how much he took after Betsy.

A feeling of guilt sunk over the telepath after he drew that energy back in. He knew better than to get so swept up in things. He shouldn't endanger Christian like that. It was that sort of accountability that hinted at Elijah's iron-code of ethics that he kept hidden from the world. Even if he was using that sense of responsibility to guilt himself over something that didn't happen. He managed to stop himself this time. Thankfully

Eli tried not to dwell on it, but he genuinely felt bad. Thankfully Chris didn't press the issue and humored the telepath by continuing the fight. It wasn't as intense as it was before, that consuming feeling they created ebbed towards an awkwardness as both men introverted things. Then Chris stopped the match and Eli was only too glad to concede to the draw. He couldn't fake the passion he put into things when his mind was elsewhere. It might've amused Chris to know that Eli for once was not in another's head, but his own instead, mulling everything in. For someone he just recently reconnected to, Chris had a way of evoking so much from him. A sign that the man had a bigger influence on him than he realized.

Both men were left breathless and confused. Eli torn between feeling like he needed water or a cigarette after that. Granted he'd need to take up smoking to begin with. Eli nodded in agreement at the suggestion of going into the meditation, that'd be easier for them. It wouldn't throw such a wrench into things.

And then Chris had to go and shed clothing.

Oh yeah, meditation was the last thing on his mind right then. His eyes lingered on the exposed flesh in front of him. Eli admiring that glistening body and watching the way the light hit Chris in all the right ways. Had it been anyone else who he felt like this about, Eli was certain how things would end up. But with Chris? It felt different. There was history there and the obvious stipulation of their abilities. Temptation had taken human form and its name was Christian Summers. Eli Worthington was not shy when it came to matters of the heart. No, when he wanted something he went after it with guns blazing. But this man. This gorgeous, look-but-dont-touch, man had Eli stumbling now. Clearly Eli had found a worthy opponent.

Instead of showing Chris everything running through his mind, Eli busied himself with removing his gear. Finally striped down to his workout clothes, he lifted the beater that clung to his overheated skin. Wiping the sweat off his brow and exposing his abdomen to the other. Eli forced himself to begin to relax as he sat across from Christian. Trying not to blatantly burn holes into the other's skin.

"I figured we could kinda work on the focusing the recognition of your power and helping you stay centered by becoming more aware of it." He explained with a stretch of his arms once he was seated. His muscles sang the aching praise of a good work out. "Remember how I told you to be aware of what your body registers as the energy your power uses? Well, stay focused on that... and if it's ok," his voice faltered for a moment in hesitation, "Maybe we can trigger your power by me... touching you."

Talk about double etendre.

Of course Eli didn’t need to know how hesitant this would make Chris feel. "I'm not proposing anything major. Just maybe a second or two just to spark your sensory side of things and keep things safe so we don’t have me flying through the ceiling." A soft laugh evoked from the youngest of the pair as he flashed a nervous smile. He'd respect things if Chris was opposed to the idea but he figured nothing would be better to grasp an understanding than total immersion. Even if the temptation to reach out and touch Chris was starting to become fueled by more than the desire of wanting to help his friend. Eli let Christian mull things over as he readied himself, connecting to the root level of his telepathy. That energy he caged in itched to be freed as the visual aspect of his power emerged and now he sported his token purple hair once more. Though Elijah was focused on aiding Christian, there was a pause in him reconnecting their link so quickly with the man. His presence lingered in the wisps of the other's mind, almost like he was taking extra caution with him. Despite both of them seeming casual and cordial on the outside, internally Eli could sense the sparks of thoughts between them. So many things unsaid and issues not being pressed. Maybe they both needed to be centered before they fully addressed what was happening. Whatever it was.

Chris knew he needed his mind to focus, to center, and to center away from the strong feelings that had been evoked. What had that even been? He was doing his best not to think about it, as that was working as well as trying to not think about something ever does. Finally, as he sat there, Chris started some of the calming techniques he already knew of. He started off with the deep breathing, breathing in counting to 5, breathing out counting to 6. After a few reps of this, he began to think to himself 'breathing in calm' and 'breathing out worry'. He was concentrating on that and only that and it was helping. Helping until the flash of movement caught his eye and he looked up to see Eli wiping his face with his shirt. His abdomen was exposed and god was he fit. A flurry of unfit thoughts interrupted Chris's 'breathe in peace', but for only a moment. Chris soldiered through, closing his eyes, thinking, 'breathe in tranquility, breathe out anxiety'. His breathing controlled and the lack of visual stimuli seemed to be helping his heart rate go down.

When Elijah began to speak, Chris slowly opened his eyes, still breathing deeply, but listening to the words. Chris nodded in agreement with the initial statement, though he knew that it wasn't that easy for him. He knew what he'd needed. He even alluded to it in their messaging back and forth. He needed to practice his ability. But he wasn't sure that Eli had caught on to his needing to do that or not. A moment later that query was answered.

Chris wasn't surprised by the request, but the surprise laid in how Elijah had phrased it. Chris felt goosebumps spring up on his arms and his mind immediately flashed to touching. Skin to skin. Body to body. He could almost feel it in his mind. Chris stopped himself, taking a deep breath in, starting in on his calming mantra again. It was a moment later when Chris realized that Eli wasn't still talking. He needed to reply now. Speak, Summers. Say something.

"Yeah." A pause. "I agree. I was wanting to give my powers a try too." He noticed Elijah's hair going purple, realizing what that meant. Chris could feel a hint of Eli's presence, but it seemed more cautious this time. Chris opened his mind to Eli again and switched over to speaking without words, so he could convey more information to Eli more quickly. And, besides, when he was busy speaking with his thoughts, there wasn't time for other, private, thoughts to pop up.

'I'll try and give you as much preparation as you need for this. I really don't feel my power all the time like some do. I only really ever feel it when I touch another mutant. It feels... like a spark, an exciting feeling. Not sure how it feels to the person I touch, but it's a bit of an adrenaline rush to me. And as for how it effects others...'

At this, Chris began to project memories. The first one being a hug he gave his mother, the first time his power worked. Emma's face showed shock, then immense satisfaction. She mused about him being just like Cerebro. But not so, as the next flashback showed. In diamond form, Emma crystallizing, growing crystals out of control, unable to move, partly trapped in a crystal construct of her own making, even after Chris let go. Chris's feelings of terror are clearly transmitted. A few more memories. Affecting his father, Cyclops shooting off a crimson beam into the sky stronger than he ever has before. Both father and son are visibly shaken. A touch to Dr. McCoy who had been testing him, the good Doctor starts to physically devolve in an instant, thankfully reverting to normal as soon as the touch is broken.

'See?', Chris thought to him as soon as the mental presentation was concluded. 'There's risk. Thought you needed to know. I think you'll be okay, though. You'd better be', he thought, laughing out loud. 'Hate to think what Aunt Betsy would do if not! The worst that i think would happen is that the room might get trashed by TK, but not a big deal if it does, everything in here's replaceable, except for the two of us', he joked again, trying to keep the mood somewhat light even though the topic was fairly serious.

'Also, I should be the one to touch you, not vice versa. Have you ever heard about what happens to a person when they're electrocuted? How their muscles tense, and sometimes their hand will latch around the very thing that's electrocuting them and not be able to let go? Don't want that to happen. Not saying I'm going to electrocute you', he added with an out loud chuckle, 'but it could be shocking all the same.'

Chris and Eli weren't sitting far apart, so Chris rose to his hands and knees and moved over beside Eli. 'You're still okay with this, right? I won't think less of you if you're not.' He knew he probably shouldn't say that, the stubborn streak in the other guy would probably see those as challenging words rather than a chance to be let off the hook. Chris sat back down and rested his hands on his legs again, just inches away from the other man, waiting the answer though he already knew what it would be.

There was an initial struggle for the pair to move past the tension they had created. Elijah was trying his best to understand what the hell was exactly going on between them. But of course in his usual pattern, he began to overthink things as they settled in for the meditation. The telepath trying not to beat himself up furthermore over the near incident with his arrows. This was about Chris; he needed to help the man. Elijah was relieved when the other agreed to testing Christian's ability. He understood there was an initial risk to things. Especially sine Eli himself never had exposure to a power amplifier.

As things went into their telepathic link, Elijah ventured closer to the man mentally. Nodding as the other began his explanation. 'Perhaps you can try seeing if you manipulate what you feel when your power is triggered. Whether it's intensifying the sensation or dulling it?' a simple hypothesis for a world-sized challenge for the pair. However when Christian began to project his past experiences with his ability Elijah's heart went out to the man. Going from considerably normal to being restricted from touching those genetically different to keep them safe.

'Chris...' he replied softly, thought full of sympathy. The one time he wanted to genuinely give the guy a hug he found himself restricted from it. Objectively Elijah knew the other was warning him for his safety, presenting the risk involved in this exploration. While he appreciated the caution, Eli would be lying if he didn't admit he was a little nervous now. There were too many possibilities now as to what could happen. His flight could grow faster, he may hear more thoughts or hell, there'd be a new hole in Christian's wall from a stray arrow. Yet, Eli knew this was important to Chris and he didn't want to backdown for the other man. God he hoped they managed to come out of this unscathed.

Eli watched Chris move closer and propose the challenge once again. Now was the point of no return.

'I'm fine with this Christian, this is for you and I offered to help you out. Just," Eli kept things in his head because he was certain his voice would've given away the hesitation he was pushing past. 'If you're going to touch me, avoid my hands. I don't want you in harm's way if I begin to lose it. And if I do, get out of here as fast as you can. I... I wouldn't want to hurt you.' a protective instinct for the other openly expressed as his eyes softened when Chris locked with his gaze. As much as this was training, Eli felt like the other was placing an intense amount of trust in him over this.

Eli flashed a small smile as he rolled back his shoulders and faced Christian with a determined look. 'Ok Sparky, juice me.' he winked as he let the other approach him. Just keep your thoughts centered on what you are feeling. Try to let your mind expand that feeling in any way you want. Even if it's only for a couple seconds.' Elijah took a final breath of anticipation as he closed his eyes and stayed at the root level of his power. His focus on Christian and keeping himself in check. He could feel the warmth of the man next to him; comforting and making him yearn for something. But Christian's mind pressed against his in a secure link, full of trust and bravery just then.

This was going to be intense.

Chris heard the advice and gave a physical nod. 'I could try. I'm sure as hell not going to try to make it more intense than usual. If anything, I'll be trying my best to be gentle. The last thing I want to do is hurt you.' That last bit wasn't supposed to be projected, but that was the rist with telepathically communicating. The mind to mouth filter really wasn't there at all.

Chris heard his name projected back to him after he'd given Eli his memories of past experiences. He could feel the sympathy attached to it. He really didn't want to hear that. He wasn't keen on being felt sorry for. His emotions went into 'shut down' mode (he gets it honestly from both parents), which if anything, would probably make this easier.

'I won't hurt you', Chris thought to him, gaze strong and determined. Chris had no way of garaunteeing it, but maybe the thought would make it so. He really wasn't concerned for himself, and brushed off Eli's apparant worries about that. Still, Chris was going to exercise caution. He wasn't about to be reckless with this. He was feeling in the zone to do this when the unexpected wink caught him off guard. He laughed, his mouth making a grin for a moment. Something in the gesture made him want to give Eli a big hug, and that thought was clearly conveyed. But not now. When this was over and they were safely clothed, maybe. 'It'll be alright. Don't worry', he thought to him, somehow sure of it now.

Chris scooted back so he was still beside the other man, but closer to his back. He was exuding confidence and determination, not allowing his nerves to flare up. His hand moved out, hovering over Eli's back, just above his shoulder blade. He kept his eyes open but tried with his mind to "feel" his power as Eli had been suggesting. Even this close, he felt nothing save for the pure adrenaline of the moment. His hand moved closer, not even an inch from Eli's skin. Even a slight shift from Eli would bring them into contact. Chris was still concentrating, not feeling it. Now was the time to just do it.

Chris's sweaty palm (yes, he'd feel self-conscious about that later) pressed against the back of Eli's shoulder that was exposed by the tank. Being conected telepathically to Eli, Chris could feel it happening so clearly. There was definitely a spark. And then some. He could feel the connection to Eli's mind still, and knew Eli was still there, but knew that Eli was also gone, as if he'd been watching one television screen then suddenly a billion more were turned on in front of him at once, all showing different channels. Chris saw the arrows appear from Eli's hands. His friend's hair was still purple, his whole skin was starting to take on a light purple sheen. Chris's first impulse was to let go, but he didn't. He tried what he was supposed to try, and began trying to will his power to lessen. At the same time, he reached out to Eli's mind with his own. 'Come back. It's okay', he soothed, starting to feel worry for his friend. What caught his attention next were the arrows. He couldn't explain what it was, but something told him that the power was building beyond what Eli could handle. It was at that point he let go.

One thing Chris did know about his ability that maybe had been conveyed through his memories if not explicitly was that when the physical contact ended, the power up effect ended as well, aburptly, suddenly. Chris scooted back away from Chris just a bit, his eyes wide as he looked his firend over, concerned. "You okay?", he asked, his trembly voice breaking the deep silence of the moment.

The nervousness sunk heavily in the pit of his stomach as the other moved into position. Deep breath. Elijah tried shoving any anxiety that lingered around him aside so this wouldn’t be a traumatic experience. He felt that body heat radiating off the other's hand as it neared his back. The warmth so alluring that it was creating a different kind of spark between them, one that both men didn’t know how to react to just yet. Eli's mind stayed centered on Christian as the man approached contact but the instant his hand connected to his overheated flesh things went in a whole different direction.

It was like being hit with an explosion of nothing but psionic energy, his senses electrified with the other's amplification. All that energy that constantly coursed through him was shoved into a blur of motion, itching to be free. Elijah could feel the energy rushing through him, wings itching to burst. No, not now. Not with Chris behind him like this. Eli's muscles tensed and his breath hitched with the intensity that crashed down onto him. That stubborn will instead redirected that energy towards his telepathy. That mental awareness ascending to a new level he hadn’t experienced before.

A soft gasp escaped him.

Brow knitted in focus as he tried to control the amplification or at least handle it. He still felt that connection to Christian, but the feeling ran deeper now. The other so much more exposed to him as for a brief moment Eli felt everything the other felt. Yet with such awareness came the presence of other's, Eli's focus slipping and reaching out to all the minds around him. The tenants in the building people outside on the street. Hell, even his father back home. Eli felt his mind connecting to theirs as well with an increasing depth. He had to fight the boost his powers were ebbing towards; he couldn’t go too deep. He couldn’t surrender so easily. While his telepathy was skillfully trained, to be have such an omniscient connection to the planet would've damaged Eli greatly. He redirected the energy away from the minds of others, away from Chris. Away from the alluring idea of knowing so much.

Then his arrows manifested in his hand. The purple weapons glowing with an ominous glow. There was no controlling the strength of them now. They were at their full strength, aimed at causing severe damage. Both physically and mentally. Eli could feel that energy pulsing through him, everything spiraling so quickly. His mind kept ascending higher and higher until he felt himself so close to something new. A new awareness he hadn’t felt before. In his mind's eye everything went white around him as the plane he was on felt dreamy to him, full with wisps of smoke that emerged from him.

Welcome to the astral plane Eli, current guests: 1.

As quick as Elijah shot up to such a level he crashed hard when the other broke contact. Elijah slumped forward for the first time in what felt like forever (as opposed to mere seconds) he gasped for air. A twinge of pain waved through him as his mind disconnected from everything around him and recentered itself on the catalyst- Christian. It took a long moment for Eli to respond to Chris. His head spinning as he clung tightly to the arrows in his palms, it hurt to reabsorb them but he did it to take out the immediate threat.

"I-I... I'm fine. It was just a lot to be hit with at once." he stammered out with panted breaths. Elijah's hair seemed to be a deeper shade of purple now after all of that. 'I'm okay, Chris. I swear.' he reassured as his mind pressed against Christian's. Partially to show the man he was fine and partially to seek out his own comfort.

"Are you fine? How was it for you? I... I didn’t hurt you, did I?" he asked cautiously, reaching out instinctively and placing a hand on the other's knee. The barrier of clothing keeping them safe even though after that mindfuck of a boost, Elijah was still worried about his friend. "Did you need to try it again?" the questions boldly asked as Eli figured he might need a bottle of aspirin by the time things were done.

Chris felt immediate concern for his friend when Eli slumped forward. Had things gone too far? His body twitched as he wanted to reach over, touch Eli, comfort him, help him, but that was the last thing he could or should do at the moment was to touch him again. It seemed too long a time before Eli finally managed a response.

Chris breathed out a deep sigh of relief when Eli appeared to be okay. The stubborn fool was even trying to make sure Chris was okay! "Are you sure you're okay?", Chris asked, looking at him critically. It was somewhat of a relief to get a telepathic reassurance from him as well, and he responded with the best telepathic embrace he could manage. It was comfort that they both appeared to need at the moment. Upon any inspection, Eli would find that other than Chris's concern for him, he was fine.

"I'm fine", Chris answered to Eli's question. "I'm okay. You sure you are?" He had a sudden reminder of the deep breathing he'd been practicing before this, and made himself slip into it again to help calm both his body and mind some. He knew that it couldn't be helpful to Eli to be connected to Chris's mind with him so full of worry for the other. It did indeed appear that they were both okay.

The breathing did help, and the very reassuring feeling of the hand on his leg earned a warm smile from the Frost heir. It was a gesture that Chris instinctually wanted to reciprocate, but given what he'd just done, he was also feeling a little touch-shy. He wanted to touch, but couldn't. It was a very frustrating position to be in.

"No, you didn't hurt me." He paused before adding, "And I'm glad you're okay. I do feel like I had a good gage of what my power was doing, though I don't think I had any more control over it then ever." But this had been his first try with it in a very long while. He did console himself with that knowledge.

When Elijah suggested another go at it, Chris's surprise was evident. "Haven't I traumatized you enough already?", he half-joked. But he knew that the reality of the situation was that he did need the practice, Eli was a willing helper, and they'd managed to do it once without any kind of damage, so another go at it wasn't unreasonable.

"Man, you're a glutton for punishment", Chris said, mentally letting Eli know that he agreed they could give it another try. "I'm gonna owe you big time", he said, giving off a brave smile. 'Let's center ourselves again first', Chris thought to Eli, still feeling a little anxious from the first time. He let his eyes close and focused on his breathing, thinking his calming mantra for them both. He could feel Eli in his mind falling into the same pattern and it was an odd but comfortable feeling as their breathing and thoughts fell into exact sync with each other. He continued on in this way for a few moments until they both felt well-calmed to him.

'Are you ready?', he thought to him. 'Here I go.' As slowly as last time, Chris moved his hand to that same spot. He kept the calming thoughts going in his mind as he made his hand reach, then finally touch.

"I'm fine," Eli breathed out again, his eyes a little distant as he tried his hardest to keep his mind from spinning so much. While the initial contact was intense and a bit overwhelming, Eli was trying his best to recall everything. He'd felt more than he ever had before and risen higher in his consciousness. While Eli was still growing as a telepath, that taste of what he could someday grow into made him want to explore it more. Though the training was intended for Christian, it seemed that both men were learning during this trial.

"I'm ok," he reassured again as he finally offered some insight into things. "I just was hit with a lot of other minds and trying to keep things centered. Then I... I went really high up." He tried not focusing on the bemused look the other gave him. Some things only telepaths could understand but Eli felt himself trying to understand what exactly he just experienced. A phone call would be placed to Betsy the instant he got home, that was for sure.

With Chris swearing he was fine and the man forcing himself to calm down, that symbiotic link their minds held began to show it's effect on Elijah. The young heir feeling his own body relax as both men dealt with the aftermath of what happened. He gave Christian's leg a small squeeze with his hand as he felt the other's frustration that he couldn’t reach out just as easily. He offered an understanding smile as they approached the idea of trying once more.

'Well, this is the first trial run. It's not like you were going to come out with control of it right off the bat. We're just trying to get you to recognize it more and get an understanding of it. You'll get this, I know you will.' he consoled mentally at the other's response of not having control of his power just yet. His hand lingered on the man's leg, feeling the solid muscle just a barrier away. Eli kept his thoughts from straying elsewhere and merely withdrew his hand as Chris questioned his suggestion of trying again.

"Traumatized?" he questioned with a cocked brow. "Pfft, you havent even phased me." He smirked defiantly even though realistically both men knew they were under the other's skin much more than they both realized.

'You owe me nothing and don’t start thinking you have to repay me for any of this.' he countered mentally as they shifted back to their earlier positions. This time when they centered themselves again, their minds kept that link, both of them working in unison to capture their focus once more. There was an intimate air to things as their unified consciousness settled to a peaceful flow once more.

He nodded as the other reached towards him and asked for the go ahead. Eli this time braced himself for the tsunami of energy that was about to hit him. He stubbornly reinforced all those mental blocks to prevent his powers triggering wildly. The instant he felt Christian's touch that blast of power slammed into him like the floodgates finally being released. His breath hitched in his throat, body going tense again as he was struck with that explosion of power.

His instincts cried to let the power be displayed fully, wings and arrows waiting to burst from him but Elijah grunted a little to himself as he willed it away. It was a headspin of energy that was building up in him as his skin held a familiar purple glow to it. He was containing his power as best as he could but if he didnt release it it'd hurt him. So he channeled it into his telepathy. Not aimed at latching onto other's even though he still felt himself linked to Christian. This time the link exposing the man's thoughts, and giving Christian insight into Elijah. Like an exchange on the other flying with each synaptic jump.

Christian assaulted with the memories of Elijah's past. From the discovery of his flight and how out of it he gained something more important, his father's love. To the night his telepathy emerged the night he stumbled upon a would-be rapist attacking a victim and later him and how he had to defend himself with a deadly telepathic bold. To the few instances in his past where he trained with his parents or used his powers to get what he wanted. All in the past of course. But Christian was now met with deeper insight into Elijah's mind as the telepath felt himself flying higher into a different state of consciousness. He felt everything around him as a feeling of disconnection began to enter him.

Slowly his conscious mind separated from his body, returning to that ghost-white plane he barely caught sight of. Elijah found himself alone there, so high and so charged with everything coursing through his veins. Elijah now stood on the astral plane, new to this environment as he tried to venture into it further, his mental form graced with his angelic wings and violet hair. It was Elijah at his core, the son of a seraphim and telepath. However Elijah's visit to that ethereal plane was crashed once more as the energy in him broke through one of his defenses. He felt the charge slice through him quickly, like a pulse. The ominous glow returned to his hands and before he could stop it an arrow manifested and was projected away from the pair.

'NO!' he crashed back to the conscious world just as the arrow hit the wall and shattered a gaping hole into it. Chris' hand pulled away from Elijah just as another arrow was lunched. The telepath groaned at the disconnection as another bolt struck the wall. Eli slumped forward as he feebly tried to draw back in the energy and found himself breathless again.

"Fuck..." he panted out as he looked at Chris with a worried expression. "Sorry, I... I'll pay for that." His gaze looking at the other to make sure he didn’t hurt his friend in the process.

As they'd debriefed about the first experience, Chris did make a funny look at the description of going up really high. But he thought he knew what Eli meant. He'd endured a lot of talk about telepathy in his household growing up. Now that they'd tried once and were apparently going to try again, Chris got it in his mind that he should talk to his mother more about her powers and his effect on her telepathy, so he could be more of a help to Eli.

Chris appreciated Eli's brave banter as they prepared to do this again. He knew they were both nervous, but were both determined to stay in control and keep the other safe. It was probably the best possible scenario for experimenting with his powers.

They both had a better idea of what to expect this time. It started out the same, the strong spark-like feeling between them, in more than one way, as he touched Eli's skin. His hand pressed down harder, wanting to calm and reassure as he could see and feel Eli struggling with the power surge. Chris was waiting to see the arrows again, but he didn't. Somehow Eli had focused the entire surge into his telepathy. And the excess of power was affecting their connection in a way that was very unexpected to Chris.

Chris could feel Elijah's consciousness swimming into his, mixing like ingredients for a recipe. Elijah's thoughts, memories, experiences, feelings were an open book to him. Chris wasn't trying to see them, but he didn't have any control over what he was seeing. He was seeing flashes of memory, not unlike how he's been sharing some of his with the purple-haired telepath a few minutes ago. He was too surprised by the flow of memories into his mind to protest or to stop it. And much of it gave new insight into his old friend. Chris could see from the memories how Elijah had developed into who he is now. He could understand the man's deep concern for others and how the honorable way he lived his life was a series of choices, and he hadn't always chosen wisely.

Christian was taken by these memories, had lost track of their exercise, what he was supposed to be doing. He felt the buildup of power in Eli only a moment before his friend cried out and a violet psibolt smashed a crater into the wall. Chris's hand reflexively tightened on Eli's shoulder a moment, then let go altogether,b ut not before another arrow shot forth.

Chris's wide eyes went from the holes in the wall and the dust clouds of drywall surrounding them to his wasted-looking friend. This time Chris quickly moved to his feet. At least Eli seemed to be coming around more quickly this time. "Don't worry about it", Chris said about the wall. "Are you okay?" That was what he was most concerned about. "I'm sorry, it was my fault, I'm not sure what happened, I... I got distracted." And the memories were still on the forefront of Chris's mind. If Eli hadn't realized what had passed from him to Chris before, he would be aware of it now.

Eli's mind was reeling from the intensity of the power he was slammed with. His breathing was slowing down to it's normal pace but he forced his head to stop spinning so violently. Everything around him didn't feel like it was so off kilter now but there was a distinct twinge in the back of his neck that warned of a killer headache that was to come later. While the task of centralizing that power boost to one portion of his abilities was challenging enough, Elijah still felt like they had make some progress in things. Then again his other abilities lashing out unexpectedly proved aggravating frustration that contradicted Eli's overall sentiment on the experience.

"I'm okay," He breathed out in a raspy voice, "I... I was trying to contain it and keep it aimed at one point- you're energy, I mean. Trying to see if maybe it can be channeled constructively. I guess it didn't work out so well." A defeated chuckle escaped the telepath as he looked at Christian with an apologetic expression. "I'm so sorry about your wall, I didn't mean to lose control like that. I was just hit with a lot and crashed really hard." His body carried the familiar tension as Elijah tried feebly to center himself once more. But as Chris worried about the insight he'd been given about Elijah the thoughts had come to the forefront of Christian's mind.

A faint tint of color came to Elijah's cheeks as he slowly stood up. Yes folks, Elijah Worthington was blushing. His eyes were not quite as eager to seek out Christian's as he self-consciously tugged at his tank top. Part of him felt exposed now. Sardonically almost like how the world around him felt, thoughts and stories open for him to read if he decided so. It might've been a subconscious instinct to let Christian in on things so openly, but Elijah still felt nervous that he might've overwhelmed the other. Which was the last thing he wanted to do.

'I'm sorry if I crossed the line with anything I did.' the thought projected through the ether as he began to find a comfort in talking to Chris like this. A comfort in letting Chris know more about him. 'I just wanted to help you out and I don't know. You... you felt like a good focus point for me when you touched me. Did things register differently to you this time around?' The telepath's eyes finally locked with the catalyst and Elijah be damned if that spark between them didnt make Eli's stomach flip into his throat. Trying to understand what was going on between them was confusing as it was but Eli felt like it was okay to let Christian into his life. His mind. Instead of tackling that mountain of thinking he'd have to do later on, Elijah did the most logical thing.

He changed the subject.

'If you wanna try again, can we hold off for a little bit? You did nothing wrong but my head still is a little dizzy from flying up that high. I just need a second to get centered again. And feel like the room isn't spinning.' The laugh that echoed into the other even felt bashful as Eli tried to save face and not show that he was getting tired. In an attempt to keep himself from staring at Christian's exposed torso and letting those alien thoughts project between them he moved to the assess damage he created. Fingers carefully running along parts of the broken wall.

"Doesn't look like I hit any support beams or electrical work. It should be easy to fix. I can send the guy we used to fix up the foundation over to fix this for you. My treat, of course." He could hear the argument already from the Summers heir before he even thought it and cut him off quickly at the pass. "I'll fix it Chris. It's the least I can do." After all, if it wasn't leaving holes in Christian's walls it was having the clandestine urge to push the other against the wall and kiss him that Eli was struggling with. Which provoked the debate if all of Christian's skin acted as a power booster or was it his hands only. Eli let that thought linger, not denying the fact that he sensed the budding attraction reciprocated in return.

For things having been aimed at being a training session it was strange how things had gone off course.

Chris listened to the explanation and apology as he slowly walked toward the damaged wall. He supposed that the explanation explained what had happened, but he still felt bad about the intrusion. "Don't worry about the wall, really. I'm not worried about it", Chris said again.

Through the connection they still had, Chris had an idea of when Eli realized what had happened while he was having his ascending experience. He was watching Eli out of the corner of his eyes, catching on to the small details of his movement, such as pulling his shirt down and avoiding looking right at him. He was about to apologize when he found Eli doing it instead. Don't', Chris thought back to him. 'Don't apologize, you had no idea what would happen, neither of us did. Was probably reckless of me to charge forward with this.' He did turn and let his eyes find Eli's. 'It was different', he thought, thinking of the memories and insight more than his own power. 'I got a little... distracted from my power. I'm sorry. I should've felt the buildup coming and let go quick enough. I did feel the second one, but wasn't quick enough.'

When trying again was suggested, Chris quickly shook his head. 'I think we've both had enough for tonight. Between this and the sparring, I'm kinda wiped out.' He did feel a bit of concern at Eli's comment about the room spinning. 'You need to sit down? Need a drink?' Eli seemed stable enough as he walked over to the wall.

When Eli started to mention sending someone over to fix it, Chris immediately protested in his mind. "Eli", Chris said, his voice betraying his strong feelings about it. "Don't worry about it. Seriously. It's only a wall. Only money. Nothing to feel bad about." And this time, Chris had to be the one to break the eye contact. There was something in the intense stare they'd shared, something mutual.

"So", Chris said, to change the subject, "All this help to work up your appetite? It'd probably do us both good to eat. But first, let's get showered and cleaned up, yeah?" Chris walked toward another door out of the workout room that clearly led to the large master bath. He'd gone back to his centering meditation in his thoughts as he walked to the doorway and stopped. He was already feeling out of sorts, and didn't feel like giving Eli more of an idea of how much he'd been affected by him.

"Help yourself to the shower. All the towels and soaps are fresh. I'll use the other bath and meet you in the kitchen for a bite afterward?" Chris turned and started toward the other door out of the workout room, looking forward to a shower to clean up and help relax himself. Though he didn't say it, he was clearly thinking about needing the water to be good and cold.

Elijah remained adamant in apologizing for what had happened. It was a mixture of him trying to take what accountability he had in things, and not wanting Christian to be discouraged for pursuing his training again. Eli hadn't pried into the other's consciousness but he knew it must've taken a lot for Chris to let him into his home like this. Eli didn’t want to further ruin the experience for Chris, so he apologized and tried taking what responsibility he could. Even if the other was willing to dismiss the whole event. Which was strange to Elijah who was used to being the one worried about others.

'It wasn't reckless.' he retorted defiantly. Thoughts full of conviction as he answered back. 'This is the first time we've trained together and... well, the first time is always mess. It's going to get better. Just you know, next time we'll make sure to keep me pointed away from breakable objects.' A small grin offered in an attempt to pump some optimism in the situation. The younger heir did his best to swallow down that anxiety that was building up in him, he almost surrendered to it again as Chris described his side of things.

Different?

Different could be good,. Or bad. Or awkward. Elijah cut that train of thought before he found himself over-analyzing things. Again he wanted to apologize for having exposed himself so fully to Christian, not even quite sure why he did that. But it happened and now they had to move past it. 'You managed to recognize the build up. See? That's progress. Much like how we now know that they need to make those walls a lot thicker.' Another joke to lighten things. Or at least have them step around everything between the pair.

While Elijah's pride would've tried to save face in front of Christian, he was secretly relieved that the man declared that they stop the training for the night. Especially since there were only so many walls that could be considered expendable in the other's apartment. 'I'm fine,' Elijah assured with a tired grin. Amused that they were both trying to check up on the other. 'I may need some aspirin in a little while. Or one hell of a drink.' Elijah was used to the drawbacks that came with being a telepath but this was one of those occasions he rather not have to deal with them.

As the subject of the repairs came up once more Elijah found himself shocked by the other's passionate response. Sure Eli felt responsible and was stubbornly determined to fix things. But there was something about Christian's presence just then that had him a little weak in all the right places. So strong, so assured, so... Chris. Without realizing it his breath hitched until Chris looked away and changed the subject. Thank goodness. Maybe now things could get back to the previous comfort and that tension between them wouldn’t feel tangible anymore.

"Food sounds good," Eli agreed. Thoughts ebbing towards other things at the eldest Summers suggestion of getting cleaned up. Did Chris have to look like that when he said it or was this all a ruse to further tempt the young seraphim? "Thank you." Eli answered with a polite nod at the other's offer. He moved over to grab his forgotten sweatshirt and almost wondered if there was an invitation in the other's words. Now as not the time for that Elijah!

The telepath went to the guest bathroom Chris had mentioned previously and shut the door behind him in hopes of finally getting sanctuary from everything that happened. What happened exactly? Even Eli couldn’t begin to wrap his mind around that mind-fuck of a situation. Eli turned on the shower and began to strip down just as he realized that his mind was still linked to Christian's. A little shocked at how natural the feeling of their bond felt, but he tried to dismiss it. Maybe Chris didn't mind it. Absently he found himself thinking about Chris. Under the shower faucet with the water running down that solid frame and hands going over that warm, soft skin. Maybe Eli could...

Elijah closed the link down the instant he realized where his mind was going.

They were in separate sanctuaries in the world. Both trying to relax and unwind after an eventful session. Now was not the time to invade the man's mind with such hedonist pursuits. A sign that Elijah respected Chris too much to complicate things. So quickly. Elijah centered his focus again and stepped into the shower to unwind and clear his mind. Letting the water wash away all the tension that had enveloped him during the course of the evening. A heavy sigh escaped him as he cleaned up and found his thoughts returning to a certain catalyst from time to time. He kept blocking out such thoughts about Christian for now, that'd be something he'd have to deal when he was out of the situation. When he'd be able to get a much clearer perspective on things. Instead he made it his point to relax and use some of those meditative techniques to clear his mind and ground himself.

Once Eli finished washing up, he dried off and slipped on his training pants. Deciding not to bother with the sweaty tank top, he put on his old college hoodie and let the fabric absorb the lingering moisture on his skin. Hair damp and sticking out in several directions, Elijah looked considerably more at ease when he exited the bathroom. He didn’t care what he looked like as he returned to the gym and packed up his gear and shoved his shirt into his duffel bag. After all, Eli was Christian’s guest and he would not make a mess. Part of him could hear Betsy in his head getting on his case about keeping his manners.

Once everything was cleared up, Eli figured now was better than ever to venture to the kitchen. Secretly hoping their meal wouldn’t be filled with such emotional roller coasters again. Even if he found himself wondering how this ride ended. Padding his way to the expansive kitchen, Eli looked like his normal self. No violet hair, no further risk of invading Christian's mind so boldly. Maybe now they could have a relaxing end to their gathering.

The holes in the wall really were of little concern to Christian. He didn't want Eli feeling bad about it. Chris had known the risk of trying what they'd tried, and he was certain that the property damage could have been much, much worse. Not to mention any other kind of damage that could have happened.

Chris did have to agree that maybe they hadn't been reckless, but he still felt he should have prepared more, even if he didn't know how he could have. When Eli mentioned the first time always being a mess, Chris's poor, tired mind immediately went to an intimate context for a moment, as that context seemed more true for what Eli was saying than the context of power training. But he banished the thought almost as soon as he'd become aware of it.

'We'll try again', Chris thought to Eli before he could help himself. Despite the elements of danger involved, Chris couldn't help feeling like a moth attracted to a flame in this situation. Or maybe Eli was the moth and he was the flame? When Eli mentioned asprin or a drink, Chris chimed in. 'I've got both', he offered. 'And I'll probably have whatever you're having'.

It was good to have a change of subject to the wall, then to getting cleaned up and eating. Chris was still trying to center his mind with his calming mantras as he exited the workout room, even though they weren't really working, except to keep his mind from thinking on other things.

Chris entered the guest bath, shutting the door behind him. The guest bath he was in was easily larger and more extravagant than the typical bathroom, though was nothing compared to the luxuriant master bath he'd left Eli with to use. To him, he'd done that simply to put his guest before himself, to show the best possible hospitality. He continued thinking his calming phrases as he stripped and turned on the water for the shower. He had a vague question in his head beyond his calming, wondering if Eli were still tuned in. He couldn't feel the presence, somehow it'd slipped away without being noticed, and that made it a little more uncertain for Chris to know. He cleaned himself quickly, keeping the water a comfortable cool temperature as he'd earlier thought, which was not at all the norm for him.

When Chris was finished, he dried himself off, only then realizing his error. He'd forgotten to take fresh clothes with him. Mentally scolding himself, he wrapped his towel around his waist and briskly walked the very short distance from the guest bath to the guest bedroom. He opened the closet in there, which was filled with things he didn't often wear. After a few minutes of searching, he'd found a snug-fitting long-sleeved tee and a pair of comfortable workout pants.

Chris walked out of the guest bedroom and through the expansive living room into the kitchen. He'd left a pair of steaks out to marinate, and now he put them on the grill top to cook. He got a salad he'd quickly tossed earlier out of the refrigerator and set it on the bar, setting plates and silverware out there as well, deciding that would be a more relaxed, informal place to eat than the dining room table. And he could use all the help he could get to relax, even after the shower.

Chris was just considering what kind of glasses to set out for them (regular drinking glasses or wine glasses, or both?) when he saw Eli crossing the living room toward where he was. Chris's posture did visibly relax when he saw that Eli's hair was it's natural color.

Chris gave his friend a small but friendly smile. He was glad for the lack of a link as he felt a little more free to dwell on his friend's cute just-out-of-the-shower look, complete with mussed up hair. Chris opened a drawer in front of him, pulling out a small bottle. "Head feeling alright?", he asked, showing the bottle of Asprin before setting it on the bar. "Or would you rather a drink? I'm really not a huge drinker, but I've got a decent supply of wine and beer, a few stiffer drinks too if you'd rather have that. And of course, I have soft drinks too. Steaks are grilling, should be done in a few minutes, maybe a bit longer depending on how you like yours done."

Despite their training in it's entirety having been filled with a near-tangible tension that filled the bond between both men with Freudian slips and an endless stream of questions. Elijah was relieved to see that Chris hadn't given up yet. The fact that the other man was willing to try again and not give up so easily on things, or him, it spoke volumes to Elijah. Even if part of him defiantly stayed set on repaying him for the damages to the wall. It was mixture of responsibility and a little built of guilt on Elijah's part.

Once both men washed up and changed into something more casual, Eli noticeably felt that tension in his body melt away. It didn’t feel like he'd push himself so much to his mental limits even if the faint ache in his head was further warning he'd be paying for things later on. But like a trooper he moved on with things and made sure to have his equipment packed up. Seeing Chris in the kitchen preparing the meal brought a small grin to the telepath's lips as they both regarded each other. It was interesting seeing Chris this relaxed now. Almost nostalgic in a way, since Eli still couldn’t get a grasp on the image of Chris as a tense businessman. Or captivating man, altogether.

"Much better," Elijah answered back as he stepped into the kitchen. "The shower helped- which by the way, thanks for letting me use it. I just got a bit of TP-feedback from being pushed like that. But I'll live." He saw the aspirin and made his way over to the counter, popping a couple of the pills to do some pre-emptive work before the headache came into full presence. "Uhm, want a beer?" he said as he tried to help and fetch their drinks. He looked in the fridge and pulled out two bottles and sat one on the counter for Christian. The first drink of that bitter libation was absolutely relaxing to Elijah as he let himself sink into the comfortable ambiance. In an attempt to further exacerbate that relaxed tone in the air, he avoided immediately linking to Chris. Mostly because his brain needed the break before it melted. Instead he just heard the faint buzz of thoughts coming from the other every once in a while. While curiosity was normally something that motivated Elijah to read a person's mind, this time he just dismissed the thoughts as Chris focusing on not burning the meal.

"Is there anything I can help with? I don’t want to be a rude guest and not help, I'll do the dishes when we're done if you'd like?" It was a polite offer on his part but also Eli feeling off-kilter by being in the kitchen and not working away on some culinary concoction. Yet despite that awkwardness it was nice being treated to a meal by a good friend. He'd reason it was almost like a date but when that thought came to mind he had to remind himself that this was Christian. The same Christian who was his partner in crime growing up. Could they even grow into that possibility? Instead of trying to wrap his mind around that debate he drowned out the thoughts by taking another swig from his drink. "It smells really good." he praised the chef as he approached the stove to stand next to Chris. The newly cleaned smell further sparking that alien feeling between them again. And insistently. Oh yeah, so much for not trying to think about that anymore.

"I don’t know if I've said it already or not, but I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate this." He said as he stepped away from the stove and the stray thoughts that kept chiming in from being so close to Chris. "I know it took you putting a lot of trust in me to agree to this whole thing. And I really appreciate it, even if things got a little chaotic." It was genuine gratitude but something Elijah felt he needed to say as he took another swig of his drink and tried to not let himself get so flustered. Oh the things Christian was doing to the poor telepath.

Chris had still been feeling a bit of tension even after the shower. The memories he'd been made privy to had caused a strange reaction in him. What he'd blown off as an innocent appreciation of a fine man and some flirtation felt well beyond that now. Not to say that Chris was without doubts or questions about the man. Conversely, he had more than ever of both. This was why he wasn't feeling much less tense even after cleaning up.

The lack of the telepathic bond for the moment did put Chris at ease some. As did having a task to occupy himself with, such as making their dinner. His questions to Eli about what to drink and how he liked his steak were also ways to temporarily ignore the elephant in the room.

Chris was glad to see that Eli was slipping into the relaxed, innocent conversation with him. "Didn't want to have to smell you - or me - all through dinner", Chris joked. He noted the comment about telepathic feedback, thinking that to be the understatement of the year, but kept any replies to himself. "Help yourself to whatever you need", he reminded Eli.

He raised an eyebrow at his friend mixing the asprin with the beer, but he supposed it could've been a worse combination. And as long as it helped his friend feel better quicker, what would it hurt? "Thanks", Chris said of the beer, leaving it on the counter for now. He'd bought it mostly for entertaining, preferring most any other kind of alcohol to it, but would have one socially here and there.

When Eli asked about helping, Chris shook his head. "No, everything's nearly ready, thanks. Just need to wait for the steaks to finish cooking. You don't have to worry about any of that." It really wasn't a burden for Chris to fix this simple meal for the two of them, nor to do a little clean up afterward. He turned from the stovetop to see Eli walking over to inspect the meal. Chris smiled at the compliment. "Thanks, hope it tastes just as good." His heart started beating faster again in Eli's close proximity. His thoughts were completely failing at being about anything other than Eli. About the positive qualities he'd seen in those memories. About how enticing he looked all cleaned up, hair ruffled just so. About how dressed as they were, physical contact could happen without concern of property damage...

Thank goodness Eli spoke up again and derailed that train of thought, even if he did so to address what had happened earlier. "You appreciate it?", Chris asked, a smile coming to his face. He understood what Eli was meaning, even though in Chris's point of view it was Eli doing him all the favors, not the other way around. "You put a hell of a lot of trust in me too." Chris hadn't seen what they'd done in terms of trust before, but Eli did have a good point. "And I know you to be a trustworthy guy. I did before, and... well, I know that even moreso now", he added, referring to the memories he'd sen. "Not that I was doubting that you're a great guy", he said, trying to be light about his feelings, which seemed to be growing more obvious by the moment.

Chris looked over his shoulder back at the food, then turned his back all the way to Eli to deal with it. "Looks like it's done!" He began moving the steaks onto a platter to carry over to their plates. Again, he was taking the chance to veer off topic for a moment. Chris carried the food over to the bar, plating the steaks, then moving around it to take his seat one of the stools. He cracked open his beer, taking a deep swig of the ale. "Dig in", he ordered with a smile.

When it came to pretending that the figurative elephant in the room was non-existent for the sake of getting along, Elijah could fake it with the best of them. Granted he knew eventually the ice would crack and give way to what both of them were keeping back from being spoken. But that didn’t mean they couldn't enjoy their meal in peace without adding further fuel to an already growing fire.

"Hey now," Eli protested with a small laugh. "I wasn’t that sweaty. Unlike someone else in this room." A pointed look was cast at Christian, as Elijah's own grin ebbed on the devilish side. Even with that tension building and crashing like waves between them, the telepath found himself still joking around with Christian. It helped ease things in Elijah's opinion and ultimately remind him that yes, they still had a friendship between them. While Elijah medicated (albeit poorly) the growing headache, he picked up on the flustered buzzing of thoughts radiating from Christian as they stood at the stove. He tried dismissing it as the other really focusing on cooking and not indulging in the narcissistic idea that perhaps he was still under Christian's skin. Because certainly this effect wasn’t mutual. Was it?

It was strange to be put in this position for Elijah, normally he was self-assured and comfortable voicing whatever on was on his mind. Hell, it was something he prided himself on. Yet here in this moment with Chris things were different and Elijah found himself wondering if not saying something was his way of letting things flow naturally. Or him side-stepping the anxiousness that built up with the surge of feelings that was recently coming into light. Especially when he found himself looking at Chris in this new light now and realizing that there was more than just the comfort of the familiar embodied in this handsome vessel.

Elijah couldn’t help but grin as the other returned the appreciation of putting trust into Eli. His cheeks faintly colored and yep folks, Eli was blushing for the second time in the night. He forced himself to look away from Chris and try to will away the color from his face. Clearly he failed in doing so and tried to play it off nonchalantly.

"Thank you, that... it means a lot to be told that, Chris." words full of modesty and genuine sentiment. "Just so you know, I trust you too with all of this. Even if I'm going to have to question the whole great guy part... for skeptical reasons of course." He feigned a suspicious look at the other as he gave into the joking grin his words carried.

Once the meal was done being cooked Eli tried to help out in serving things but was ultimately shoved aside (figuratively) as Christian brought the food to the table. Eli couldn’t help but grin in anticipation curious to test the other's culinary skills as they sat down to eat. He grabbed his fork and knife and took the first tentative bite into his steak and was pleasantly surprised at the taste that hit his pallet. He was about to speak with a mouthful of food but managed to stop himself and politely finished off his bite. Yep, his momma taught him better than that.

"This is delicious Chris," Eli admitted as he tried not to devour the meal in front of him whole. Ok, maybe the workout had taken a toll on him and left him with a deep hunger. "Next time we do this, I'll bring over dinner. As a thank you." he mentioned to the other, already hearing the buzzing going off about those thoughts from the other. "Yes, I'm gonna cook for you. Don’t even try to argue with me." It kinda helped that he sprung that news onto Chris mid-bite, as Eli grinned devilishly.

Despite them both quenching their appetites, it still left a lot of things unresolved that Eli found himself wondering. If he ended up doing this again with Christian would things be considered different between them? That stream of thoughts cut short once again as he decided now was not the time to deal with such matters. His attention drifted to the open view of the rest of the apartment as he noticed part of the piano in the distance. Brow cocked as he nodded towards it. "You play?" he asked curiously, that artistic side in him thrilled at the sight of the baby grand. Seemed there was a lot more to Chris Summers he missed about during the time they grew apart.

"Don't even lie", Chris said, laughing about the sweat comment. "I was touching you, I should know. You're much better now. Especially the hair", he teased, his face breaking into grin.

The humor was nice, the laughs coming naturally if not a little louder than usual, perhaps to make up for all the other feelings he was having. Like a pendulum, the topic did swing back to training for a moment. He was surprised at Eli's reaction to his compliment. Was he actually blushing? No.... Yes, he was! The last thing Chris was going to do was point it out, he was trying to figure out the 'why' of the reaction, even though the answer was more than obvious. Chris wasn't going to argue the 'great guy' comment with Eli, even if he had argued it in a joking manner. Chris had been sincere in the compliment, and he could tell that despite the joking, that Eli knew that.

When they at last sat down to eat, Chris began to cut up his steak after taking his first ample mouthful of his beer. "Thanks", he said, accepting the compliment about the steak. "Deosn't take much to cook a steak right", he said, downplaying it. "Thought it'd be a simple, but good, meal."

Leave it to Eli to try and pay him back, and Chris's thoughts certainly were against it right away. It was Chris's home, he should be doing the cooking and cleaning and entertaining, not the other way around! He had to wait until he was done chewing his first bite to argue his point, by then Eli had gotten even more words in edgewise. "You're as stubborn as... Well, as I am!", he said, laughing about it. "We keep hanging out like this, we're probably going to end up driving each other nuts." But he was saying it all with a grin, clearly looking forward to his inevitable insanity.

Chris was feeling more comfortable again and was steadily devouring his dinner. When Eli spoke up again, he looked toward where the other man was motioning. "Yeah...", Chris answered halfheartedly but with a smile on his face. "One of the few things mom and dad got me involved with that I kind of kept up with." He was sure that Eli understood how that was.

Elijah defiantly scoffed at the other's allegations about his stink and sweat ratio. A playful grin growing over his lips as he bantered back at the man. "I was not that bad, and hey now. You touched me too. So... yeah, you weren’t a bed of flowers either Mister." Another pointed glance shot at his friend as Elijah playfully nudged him with his arm. Their layers of clothing keeping them safe from any ability-related mishaps even though this time the spark Eli felt was for entirely different reasons. That was... till Christian offered his insight on the hair. "Don’t knock the hair, it's quite the rage in Paris. People pay a lot to look like this. Don’t hate." He teased as he playfully winked at the other in retaliation. There was some relief in being able to inject some humor and laughter into the situation. It made things feel normal and not like they were going to be eaten whole by what kept building up between them.

"But it does take a lot to be able to cook a meal without setting something on fire. So really, you're ahead than most of the male population." He pointed out in praise as the other tried to downplay his culinary skills. Eli knew when to encourage a person and well, a man who could cook and happened to look like Christian? Well, wasn’t he just the lucky guy in that moment? Eli kept working on his meal with eagerness as the food offered some much-needed replenishment to a tired body. And it didn’t hurt that he had good company across from him. As he set out his intention to repay Chris for his hospitality a laugh escaped him as the other declared them equal in their stubbornness and committed to being driven crazy.

"Then here's to you being the first one to end up in the mental asylum." He toasted with a raised beer bottle. "Salud." he toasted with a small laugh as he took a well-deserved swig of his beer. At the rate they were both going they were set on bickering a lot about things, but Eli realized that perhaps that would be the fun in all the madness.

"I didn’t know you played," Eli breathed out softly between sips of his beer as he glanced between Chris and the piano. "I may be tempted to play a little bit on it later on, if that's cool with you." He checked with a cautious tone. While he didn’t keep up with his piano lessons in later years, Eli still held a good ear for music and retained some talent about his piano skills. Even if he usually kept his singing to himself out of modesty. "My parents made me learn too, they were convinced it'd keep me out of trouble. Clearly we saw they were naive in thinking that." He teased with a small grin as he took a hearty bite of his steak again. For as much as that tension constantly built up between them, in that moment the pair were relaxed and Elijah felt comfortable in his environment again. He felt that slow build up of energy in him as his instincts to reach out to Chris began to ebb back into the picture. He mentally resisted this time and decided it was best to keep their link out of things. For the time being.

Chris was enjoying the camaraderie with his friend and even managed to not think too hard on the playful arm bump, even though the contact did cause a momentary spike in his heartbeat. "I never said I wasn't sweaty", he said in his defense. At the mention of Eli's hair, Chris said, "I'm not knocking the 'do. It's a great look for you." Before he thought better of it, Chris reached out and tweaked a few strands of Eli's hair. "Oh!", he said with a smile. "I didn't mention that, did I?" He was amused by Eli's reaction to what he'd just done, apparently catching him by surprise. "Hair doesn't count as skin." He resisted the urge to touch it again just to make his point. He knew it wouldn't take much to push their play back into deep territory again, and wanted to keep things light for a while.

About the meal, Chris said, "Well, thanks. I get it from dad, I guess. Mom can't cook worth a darn." He was already close to finishing his meal and was taking another drink of his beer when Eli mentioned him being the first to go insane. After swallowing, he added, "I wouldn't doubt that. You're way more likely to drive someone crazy than I am." He laughed again before setting his beer down for a while.

"You play too?", Chris asked, surprised though he shouldn't have been. "I should get another piano, we could duel", he teased. "Yeah, you should play for me, I'd love to hear it." He smiled at the comment about him not staying out of trouble. "I could only imagine. I never had much of a problem with staying out of trouble. Was, comparatively, the good kid." To his credit, Chris didn't say who he was comparing himself to. Truthfully, he'd meant his siblings, though the comment could've easily been attributed to Eli as well. "Mom and dad tried to keep me in as many activities as possible. I hated most of them and quit as soon as I could. But I do like to fly. In a plane", he added as an afterthought, grinning. "Took up that hobby on my own."

Elijah's heart just about stopped the moment Chris decided to mess with his hair. Oh shit, he was caught off guard and was bound to give the apartment below them a delightful skylight into Christian's kitchen with that charge that was going to crash into him. However instead of finding his power amplified during an unexpected moment, the young heir was surprised to feel... nothing. Just faced with a man who had a Cheshire grin on his lips. Then Chris elaborated like it was the funniest moment of the evening. Well, someone failed to explain that to the telepath who had a near heart attack thinking he was going to create more damage.

"You jerk!" Elijah countered back with a small laugh, letting Chris know he was fine. "You should've told me it was just triggered by skin on skin. I thought it was just you touching a mutant in general. I was about to piss myself thinking I was going to blast something or fly through the ceiling over here." In a display that there was no hard feelings between them, Elijah reached over with one hand and ruffled the other's mop of hair. Turning it into a small noogie and finding himself thankful that there wasn't any skin contact in the display. That playful side to Elijah came out quickly, one hand reaching over to tickle the man's side through the shirt as he added. "You had me worried." And yes folks, Elijah added a small glare as he withdrew his touch from the man. Keeping that streak a little more contained because part of him feared what would happen if he continued to touch Chris. His instincts may take over and he wouldn't be able to stop.

Thankfully their dinner proved to be sufficient distraction to both men as Elijah was not one bit surprised that Emma didn't cook. Because really? Emma Frost as the next domestic goddess? Even Eli cracked up about that mental image. "Either way, my compliments to the chef then." He beamed in praise at the other. Though Eli was thisclose to taking back that last compliment at the others remark about his likelihood to drive someone insane. "Hey! You're no saint either, I remember what you were like as kids. Don't even try to deny it Christian." Oh yes he did. Full name and everything!

"Dad and mom insisted I take up music along with dance when my flight emerged. I think it was just to keep me busy or preen me into the token child of privilege. Since playing Bach on the piano when you're 8 years old is just about the cutest thing ever to your parent's business partners." Add a sarcastic eye roll and Eli offered a logical response to the other's challenge. "Or you know, we could just play together? Maybe I'll serenade you after dinner, but you have to guarantee me that you wont be swooning." A playful wink trailed his teasing words.

Elijah nodded somberly as Chris explained his unofficial title as the good kid. In hindsight he considered himself a good kid, a bit of a misguided teenager during adolescence but Eli felt he did well for himself once his wild days were behind him. "You fly?" he asked as he followed the topic change. "I never knew you were the pilot type granted I think it's a different experience when it's just you in the air and not some contraption of several tons of steel around you." He shrugged with a half-grin. Being able to fly on your own was an inexplicable feeling to Elijah, it was freeing and one of the most peaceful things he did in life. Nothing but him and the air rushing past him. Sans the few times as a kid where he nearly ended up in a tree. But thankfully his navigational skills got better over the years.

Oh, that look had been priceless. Chris laughed along with Eli. "It slipped my mind", he honestly said about the hair. It should've been telling to Chris that the first thing Eli did once he realized he could touch Chris in that way was to touch Chris in that way. He laughed, almost slipping off his barstool as he leaned away from the ticklish hand. He was tempted to reciprocate, but knew he still had to be careful about the touch issue, so he stayed on good behavior. "No worries", Chris said with a smile. "I wouldn't be that reckless." He'd seen how badly he'd thrown Eli for a loop touching him with his permission, he couldn't imagine taking him by surprise like that. He shook the thoughts from his mind. It'd only been a gag, and a well-received one.

Chris finished up his salad and steak as they continued to talk. He smiled as his past sins were brought up. "I got into normal kid trouble. You were borderline evil mutant", he joked.

When the dance class was mentioned, Chris's brow arched. "Dance? Really? Mom never got me into that one, thank god. She got me into piano and cello, dad got me doing baseball and martial arts." He well understood about being shown off to important guests, nodding as Eli talked about it. "Yeah, same here", he sighed, a wry smile on his face. His smile widened when Eli mentioned serenading him. "I don't think I can guarantee that", Chris said about not swooning, giving the guy a playful shoulder bump. "We could play around on it some", he offered. "I'm not the best at playing by ear, but I've got a pretty good selection of sheet music."

Chris was glad for the opportunity to talk about flying, his face lighting up some as he did so. "I get it honestly. Dad flies, my great-grandfather had his own airline. I love it. I know it's not the same as how you do it, Superman, but it's a great feeling."

Chris stood, setting his napkin on his empty plate. "Leave the dishes for now", he said, his way of getting Eli to forget about them altogether. "I want to hear you make some sweet music for me." He walked across the living room, his workout pants hanging low around his waist. Chris got to the piano, pulling out the bench and sitting down. He let his fingers play over the keys, a finely tuned melody coming out. "Well?", he asked, looking over his shoulder and patting the empty space on the bench beside him.

A person's actions had a tendency of speaking volumes when compared to a person's words. Or at least those unspoken words said person restrained for not making things more awkward then they had to be. Elijah was a little relieved that Chris wouldn’t be so reckless with triggering his cerebro effect so carelessly. Granted Eli would have to make it a point to keep an eye on the eldest Summers now that there proved to be a mischievous side underneath that entire nice-guy facade. Oh yes, he was onto Christian's game. And he might've played into it himself.

"Borderline evil?" he questioned with a cocked brow, eyes full of challenge as he let the statement simmer between them. "I wasn't aware I was that bad." Elijah was completely baiting Chris, letting him squirm as his words took on a frosty tone in reaction to the other's teasing. Oh yes, Eli knew how to joke around too especially when he managed to not break his facade by keeping a defensive and oh-so-cold exterior presented to the other. This was going to be good.

Everyone always arched a brow whenever Elijah mentioned he was placed in dance classes while growing up. He had a lot of energy in his younger years and a natural sense of rhythm; it just made sense to give the kid an outlet for that energy. "Actually dad insisted on it." He admitted pointedly as the other studied him. "He said it'd help with mastering the whole flying thing, you know agility and such. But he also said the same thing about gymnastics and well, add mom going all Ninja-Parent all the time I kinda had to learn how to move regardless. I did baseball for a little while but I don’t know, I rather play for fun instead of having the competitive atmosphere of a team to ruin it for me." He shrugged as he reflected to some of the backyard games he would have during the summer. Especially when someone, a nameless someone, would decide to take off into the air to catch a ball going far into left field.

"Then you're going to have to restrain yourself for my benefit, Chris. Or you know, try not to throw your clothing at me if you begin to start swooning." He teased playfully as he bumped the other in return. Not that Elijah would object to the other stripping down for his benefit. Wait, but that would mean exposed skin and... Eli cut off that mental fantasy rather quickly. "That sounds like fun," He said taking up the man on his offer. "I'll have to critique your music selection, clearly." He teased.

Elijah noticed the way the other beamed as he talked about flying, Elijah finding himself grinning in return while the other explained his flight lineage. "It's.. liberating, isn’t it?" It was his way of connecting to the other man and Eli found himself curious about what else they shared in common.

Once the meal was done Eli's gaze trailed after Christian while the other moved to the piano, eyes not escaping the sight of how low the other's pants were riding. Ok, once again poor Elijah's mind went to places he was trying to avoid. So much for keeping things casual during the evening. He abandoned his seat and went after Chris who took his seat and called him to play. The telepath taking a seat next to Christian as the man tinkered away on the keys. When the gauntlet was passed over to him, Elijah straightened up as he placed his hands on the key. Initially he let his fingers dance along the ivory scales as he absently strung together a soft melody that began to fill the room. As each note rung out Elijah began to piece them together, fingers skillfully dancing along the row of keys as he began to piece together a song. It was an older hit but one he remembered playing while growing up. The notes spiraling together as Elijah choked back that initial nervousness of singing in front of the other man. It wasn’t that he was a bad singer, he just got nervous at times. A hint that deep down there was a timid part to Elijah's nature.

"Some people live for the fortune, some people live just for the fame..." His voice sweetly carried the words as he began to sing along with the piano. Eyes focused intently on the piano because in that moment Eli wouldn’t be able to handle looking at Chris. Eli's voice carried on through the first verse, slipping confidently into the chorus as Elijah's voice carried some soul in the sweet harmony that encircled them. "Some people want it all, but I don’t want nothing at all. If I ain't got you baby. If I ain’t got you baby..."

Eli played the song to the end and as the final key was pressed he absently licked his lips as he did his best not to look at Christian just then. Especially now that things had gone from casual to difference once again. The catalyst now exposed to the more tender side of Elijah, which very few people saw from the young heir.

Chris noted Eli's reaction to being called evil, and was amused by what he saw as theatrics. "Oh, yeah, you definitely were", Chris answered, trying to keep a straight face. "But I must've been some kind of good influence for you, you turned out alright." So alright was an understatement, the guy appeared to be a saint, what with his charity work.

What Eli had to say about gymnastics and dance did make sense, and Chris did have to admit there was an unmistakable grace in how Eli moved, yet another attractive quality about the man. When baseball was mentioned, Chris nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I was never into competitive sports. Played all through high school, but didn't really like it."

The conversation turned to the piano again, Chris now being teased some more. "I'll try to restrain myself", he answered about keeping his clothes on, rolling his eyes but still smiling. It seemed they had a few things in common, from baseball to piano to flying (sort of). "It is liberating", Chris agreed. "You used to fly me around once upon a time, you'll have to met me return the favor sometime. I promise my landings are way smoother", he teased, remembering the crash landings Eli would have when a kid.

Once Eli had joined him at the piano, Chris watched him move with practiced skill, his fingers gliding over the keys. Chris scooted to the edge of the long bench, giving Eli the room he needed. He listened, feeling his body relax as the other played and started to sing. The song wasn't familiar to Chris, but he took in the words, finding it easy to imagine the lyrics being sung directly to him, and that was indeed swoon-worthy.

Chris was looking directly at Eli as he sang. As the song wound to a close and the talented Worthington heir licked his lips, Chris had to fight the urge to lean forward, to close the distance. He knew the impulse was foolish, but he was now very firmly aware that if powers weren't an issue, he would have. Hell, if powers weren't an issue, he would have long before this moment. Still, the image of what he wanted was very clearly and firmly in his mind.

"Wow, that was good", he said, his voice a little breathy. He took a deep breath and scooted back further toward his edge of the bench as he added, "No way I could follow that up!" He kept his comment light and used it as a good excuse to stand up and take a step back, keeping temptation at arm's length.

"Oh! Hey! I have someone to introduce you to." He smiled mysteriously as he took a step or two backward, then turned walking across the living room to the far wall, motioning for Eli to follow. Against the wall was a very large aquarium, looking like something one would see at the zoo. And indeed that was where Chris had gotten it from thanks to a very generous donation. Inside the habitat was rocks and plants and a small waterfall. Seemingly stuck to the vertical surface of one of the rocks wa sa tiny green tree frog. "This is my Prince", he said to Eli, eyes sparkling with amusement, still trying to dodge that elephant in the room, though it was becoming more difficult to do so.

At the rate the pair were going in their attempt to avoid discussing that unmentionable presence in the room, things almost fell in synch like a dance. They joked and teased each other. Sharing laughs and finding more common ground as that attraction seemed to unfold even more and more. It was like quicksand around them. The pair struggling in determination to get out of it but only to find that they were sinking further into things. It left a conflicted feeling for Elijah. What would happen if powers weren’t an issue between them? Would things have gone in an entirely different direction? What would happen if the history between them weren’t so intricately woven? Would Eli be quicker to take an assertive step forward with Chris? Out of all the questions that streamed endlessly in his mind Elijah found himself facing the biggest question yet:

What would happen next?

The meal had proven to be easily handled between the pair. Sure their flirtation and budding attraction made itself known every once in a while but the food itself kept their minds off things. Now as they both sat at the piano and Elijah played for Christian the ambiance around them felt differently. It wasn’t heated and instinctual like it had been in the gym. It wasn’t a match of wits like with their meal. This felt... intimate. Just the two of them exposed in new light and Elijah serenading a muse he couldn’t touch. It was a different connection that was forging itself between the pair. One that wasn’t mental or physical, it was... unique. Almost like a description of a beautiful person through a blind man's perspective.

The telepath didn’t dare look at Christian when the song finished; he felt the other's eyes on him the whole time. Burning into him and feeling the thoughts sparks in Christian's mind. It didn’t take much for Eli to piece together who Chris was thinking about. He felt exposed and vulnerable. Two alien feelings he wasn’t quite sure how to handle. His instincts cried out to him, pleading that he lean over. That he seal their distance and let whatever happen next be the crescendo of the whole night.

But Chris praised him and was moving away before Elijah could turn to him.

"Thank you..." The words barely escaped him in a soft tone as the other clung to the first distraction he managed to find. Someone? He took the bait and followed after Chris in curious pursuit. The closer they got to the tank the more the puzzles pieces fell into place. So Chris had actually followed through on the infamous frog conversation. Eli found himself grinning as he was introduced to Prince and the other beamed proudly. Again the dance continued around the elephant in the room.

"Biiiig tank, little frog." Eli summed up in his amusement, as the amphibian seemed disinterested in his observers. "Can I hold him?" he asked with a hint of excitement. "When did you get him, granted I'm surprised you actually got a pet frog." A slight chuckle escaped Elijah as the other carefully fished out Prince. Eli took gentle hold of the frog that just stared at him in deep study.

"He looks cute, Chris. Nice pick." Elijah praised as his finger gently stroked the frog's smooth skin. Not resisting the obvious joke, Elijah carefully pressed a small peck to the frog. Brow arched dramatically as he dryly remarked, "What? No prince for me?" His eyes glancing at Christian in rhetorical response Maybe the prince he wanted wasn’t the one in his hand.

The time at the piano had definitely taken a different tone than the lighthearted dinner. Chris hadn't expected the song nor the effect it had on him. If he had to define the mood of the moment as he listened to Eli sing, he would have to say it had been romantic.

And that was something he had no idea how to deal with. Not with someone he couldn't easily touch. And especially not with Eli.

He tried to recapture the earlier lighthearted tone as he almost literally ran away from Eli (and to his Prince). Once he was at the aquarium, Chris turned back around, watching Eli follow, pleased by his reaction. "You want to hold him?", Chris said skeptically. "He's not really a touchy feely kind of frog. Truthfully, he doesn't do much at all except lay there. Until it's mealtime. That's pretty awesome to watch." He grinned, probably looking much like he would have as a child talking about such things.

"I got him a couple of weeks ago. Right after that time", he said referring the online conversation about frogs and princes, where hints of flirtation and attraction perhaps first manifested in subtle ways. Chris opened the lid of the tank, pulling up his sleeve before reaching in. "Good thing he's not a mutant frog", he joked as his hand went out toward it. The frog jumped away from the hand, landing on the front glass of the tank and sticking there. But Chris got him then, his hand easily moving around the thumb-sized amphibian and pulling him off of the glass.

Chris's hand moved out of the tank and he pivoted toward Eli. Then he paused. A hint of a frown came on his countenance as he said, "Put out your hand and be really still." Once Eli did so, Chris slowly moved his own hand over Eli's until there was barely an inch between them. One mess up and this could be very bad for Prince. But Chris opened his hand and dropped the pet into Eli's hand, who carefully closed around the animal.

Chris took a step back and observed as Eli checked out the little guy, the Summers heir smiling again. "You like him, hmm?" He looked on, surprised but not, as Eli pressed his lips to the frog for just an instant. "Ewwww...", he laughed. "You're the one who said you have to kiss a bunch of frogs before you find the right one. Guess you have to keep looking." He was enjoying the innocent visual image that brought up, one of Eli kissing frog after frog like he'd just done. He did his best to think it loudly and project it Eli's way.

Watching Christian scamper off to the aquarium brought forth a nostalgic feeling to Elijah. That infectious enthusiasm coupled with that playful energy and million-watt grin Chris had, reminded the telepath that at heart Chris was still a little bit of the boy that he remembered from his past. It warmed his heart even if things got awkward now as adults to see this side of his friend. Chris in his own way had been a huge part of Elijah's life that having this string of complications just confused him even more.

Elijah nodded in assurance that he wanted to hold the frog, laughing a little at how only Chris would deem the frog eating crickets to be cool. Well Chris... and every other 8 year old boy in the tri-county area. "I can't believe you remembered that," Eli answered back at the motivation to bring Prince back home. His grin softening because yes folks, to Eli that showed that Chris listened and that made the man more attractive. "But at least you have someone to keep you company here now." He shrugged as the other fished out the amphibian.

The frog transfer was a delicate act and Eli was worried for the frog's safety too. One slip and it'd be a frog on an arrow. Or worse. The near presence of the other hand's on his was tantalizing, the warmth radiating from Chris so tempting so alluring that if it weren't for Prince. Eli would've wanted to take the man's hand in his own.

Once Prince was safe in his hand, Eli took his time admiring the pet. A small laugh and eye roll evoked at the other's reaction when he kissed Prince. "It's a domesticated frog, Chris. He's cleaner than you expected." Eli countered knowingly.

As the other retorted to his joke Elijah lamented with a small nod. "True, but it'd be nice if I could just find that prince a lot quicker." He sighed dramatically and avoided looking at Chris. Perhaps out of modesty and not fanning the flames any further than needed. "Plus I think he's giving me that look now, you know?" he wiggled his eyebrows at the frog who just stared at him. Oh yes folks, it was sheer chemistry!

Elijah could sense the other's thoughts growing louder and louder. Unknowingly Elijah's mind locked onto the thoughts and he found himself connecting to Christian again. The purple-hair making it's comeback as he was met with a mental image. Elijah laughed to himself as he nudged the aquarium open again and carefully released Prince back into his home. Eli focused easily on the mental image and changed it around for Christian. Replacing himself with Chris and having the man kiss an endless line of frogs. Eli beamed teasingly as he playfully hip-checked Chris. He didn't consider himself prince charming, but perhaps there was one frog worth Christian's kiss.

Chris's overexcitement over his pet was tempered some when Eli mentioned not believing that Chris remembered their conversation about frogs and princes. "Don't think I'd ever forget", Chris said, keeping his tone light though there was loads of meaning in what he'd just said. He was sure he wouldn't forget. Eli had frustrated Chris, challenged Chris. And sometimes Chris needed challenged the way Eli had done so. Especially in the area of taking a chance on love again.

As they continued with their teasing on the subject of princes and frogs, Chris wondered to himself at what Eli said about wanting to find the prince. Chris tried to push out the far too introspective thoughts. It was silliness anyways. Chris was no prince. He did laugh as Eli carried on his love affair with Prince. "Geez, should I give you two some privacy?", Chris joked.

He'd pushed his amusing thoughts of the frog prince at Eli, not giving thought to the notion that a connection with the man might not be the best thing right now. But as Eli's hair turned violet, Chris saw his friend's smile widen and heard the mental laugh. He wasn't expecting the turnabout mental image of Chris doing the same. And it ended up being a trap for Chris that couldn't have been better laid if Eli had intended it. As Chris saw the image, his made a face and gave an amused laugh back, but automatically shifted the scene in his mind to be kissing something, someone far more desirable.

The image blinked away in a moment, leaving Chris staring wide-eyed at Eli in surprise. He felt exposed, his thoughts laid bare, the elephant obvious. Fuck.

Chris took a step or two back, not to get away as much to sit down before he did something completely stupid like fall over. He sat on one of the several leather sofas scattered through the large room. 'Eli... I know it's stupid. A dumb thought to be having, the dumbest. Remembering when we were talking about frogs and princes, you seemed to be challenging me to try and find a prince? Encouragement I probably needed. I don't take chances in that part of my life, haven't for a while. Only had one boyfriend, one guy who met my standards, who I thought I could trust. I was sure he was IT.' Chris let out a short, bitter laugh. His mind was projecting an image of the guy who at least physically-wise was about flawless. 'He wasn't. He cheated on me. Since that, my standards have been even higher than they were before. But... then you came around. And I started wondering about taking chances. But what I was thinking of, that's not even a chance, is it?' How could it be? It wouldn't be easy, and as much as Chris wanted... Eli, he also didn't want to get hurt again. Though not projected as directly, these thoughts were apparent to Eli as well.

Eli caught the rise in temperament as the other adamantly reminded Eli that he hadn't forgotten that conversation that sparked that journey down the winding road that lead them to where they were now. He didn’t dwell on it much for too long as the other teased him about his apparent love affair with Prince. He did always like his lovers on the green side of things...

"Well, it wouldn’t be rude or anything..." Elijah retorted with a small laugh at the suggestion of he and the frog needing some privacy. The playful teasing resurfacing between both males as Chris projected the amusing mental image. However things took an unexpected turn for the tense once again the minute Elijah recreated the mental image and shot it back at Christian. The laughter lingering in the air between them as Elijah saw the image change from Christian kissing frogs to the man kissing someone specifically. As quick as the image was to appear it vanished and left the truth cast openly between them.

The dance around the elephant was finished and finally centered on the topic that had consumed them during the course of their evening. Watching Chris move away didn’t exactly cast the best impression to Elijah, it did feel like the man was fleeing the inevitable conversation. Eli was ready to chase after Chris when the other sat down and began to vent his emotions into the ethereal link between them.

Elijah followed suit and took a seat next to Christian on the sofa and sank heavily into it as everything weighed down on him. It was a lot of thoughts and emotions to be hit with at once, but the telepath could understand where Chris was coming from. Hell, it wasn’t like it was easy to gather that Chris had his guard up for good reasons. Yet as much as they both tried to fight the feelings between them they somehow always kept being drawn back to the other. That proved to be the biggest challenge facing the pair. At what point did they stop fighting themselves and give into what seemed to be happening?

"It's not dumb, and you know that Chris." Eli said aloud, afraid of what his thoughts would exposed if he used their link immediately. There was a wavering vulnerability in the telepath's voice as he put himself out there to let Chris know he was just involved in things. "And you know why it isn't dumb." He didn’t have to say or think it; the look in Elijah's eyes gave away the fact that the feeling was intensely mutual.

The subject of Christina's ex-boyfriend still between them, Elijah caught the image of the man and even though Chris didn’t intentionally do it. He also felt the heartbroken memories attached to the figure. It might've been jealousy or a protective streak in Elijah that had him loathing a stranger he never met, for hurting Chris that deeply. But Eli's mind instinctively pressed against Christian's in comfort. The telepath sliding closer to Chris and placing a comforting hand on his back to deepen the gesture. It wasn’t pity or sympathy but Eli being able to relate to a heartbroken man who was terrified of it happening again.

'You gotta realize that the way he treated you is purely on him, Chris. It's his dumbass mistake for not realizing what he had in front of him. You gotta realize that... I'm not him. Yeah, that risk is fucking terrifying but sometimes it pays off too.' He wasn’t sure if he was encouraging Chris to be open to the idea of taking that plunge once again or be open to taking that plunge with him. The room was thick with the tension and the emotions they choked back for long enough as Elijah put himself out there further.

'There's a chance for everything, Christian. No matter how outlandish the thought or mundane... there's a chance.' In doing so Elijah opened up his mind, letting Chris feel and learn about all the thoughts he restrained for a while now. Letting Chris know that as much as they were both fighting it, Chris made Eli nervous and for all the right reasons. 'I don’t know what the hell to say or do anymore, and that's... I'm not used to this. I'm not even sure how to approach this because it's you Chris. Because you've been there forever and you know me better than most people do.' The words almost set on rejecting everything for the sake of not putting Christian off kilter further more.

'But...' There was always a but. Especially when a person’s instincts took control.

Elijah's arm slipped around the man's solid frame, holding him securely as Elijah tempted fate and pressed a small peck on Christian's cheek. As expected Elijah's body tensed the second that energy hit him. The telepath was prepared this time, channeling the energy to the right source and focusing on his link with Chris. It amplified everything that sparked between them to a new level. Elijah just focused on one mental thought, his mental presence manifesting into himself with wings and all. He faced Christian’s mental figure, who studied him with a panicked expression. Both men were on a different plane now, one where the restrictions Chris put in place applied. A place that was truly for them alone. Their consciousness pressed against each other as Elijah's mental-self pulled Christian closed and kissed him with every ounce of passion that pulsed in his body. Their lips danced against each other’s softly as every emotion, and every thought dripped around them and enveloped them with this… attraction that felt so consuming. The kiss while purely mental reached into their cores and rattled Elijah's very being. As the kiss lingered Elijah pulled away with a gasp for breath before the energy pulsing through him put them in further danger and overwhelmed the telepath. His mind stayed deeply connected with Christian as they clung to that plane. Clung to what just happened.

'I'm not him, Chris. Just remember that.' An unspoken vow that Eli wouldn’t hurt Chris.

As Chris finally spilled his heart out all over the place, he kept his eyes cast downward. This was difficult for him. And it wasn't that he thought Eli wasn't interested at all, he wasn't that dense. But he had his own doubts and worries, which he was putting out there as well, and he still was trying to physically avoid what his thoughts were no longer allowing him to do.

Eli's first reply to him sounded patronizing to him, and along with Eli not responding with his thoughts worried Chris for a moment. But he heard Eli say he knew why it wasn't dumb, and he looked over, letting his eyes meet Eli's. And he knew. There was no denying.

The words back in his mind were something of a comfort. Chris didn't... well, maybe he did blame himself some for what his jackass ex- had done, but the experience had caused him to close up some. Part of him didn't want him to trust. But Eli was wanting him to. To what? To trust in love? To trust in him? Chris wanted to trust.

And suddenly, Eli's mind was opened to him. This time, it was more of a guided tour, Chris hearing and seeing and feeling just how much Eli had been thinking about him, what Eli had been thinking about him (and a few of those thoughts were blushworthy). Chris was seeing the effect he was having on Eli. The self-assured man beside him was a mess! He was a mess because of how he was feeling about Chris.

'I don't know what to do either', Chris admitted. 'I-' His thought was very clearly cut off as he was caught off guard by Eli leaning in and pressing his lips to Chris's cheek. The spark this time felt like a lightning strike. Chris turned toward Eli, his hands finding rest on the man's strong shirt-clad arms.

In an instant, Chris was somewhere else. He knew where he was, he'd heard of this from his mother. But he'd never made the trip himself. Somehow, Eli had brought them both here. He looked at Eli, the jaw of his astral-self dropping in shock. He was seeing Eli as he truly was, a brilliant angel in all his glory. He was speechless at the sight of him, he was easily the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. His awe was transmitted to Eli through their thought-bond as the angel leaned in, doing in this form what he hadn't in flesh.

Chris's mental form pressed against Eli's as their mouths met, Eli's passion being met by Chris's own. Here in this place he could finally let go, he could leave his inhibitions and worries behind. Chris's intense need and want and deep satisfaction were all made clear to Eli in that moment. As their mouths parted, Chris felt in a forgotten part of himself that Eli was pulling away back in the real world. Chris didn't want to leave this heaven with this angel, but he well understood the need to.

Even as the energy of the power amplification waned, Chris remained deeply connected to this man. Eli's mental promise to him sounded like the understatement of the millennium. How could anyone or anything compare to what he'd just experienced?

Back in the real world, Chris leaned into Eli. He was aware of their bodies and cautious of the skin to skin, but managed to rest against him in a way that was comfortably intimate yet wouldn't trigger Eli's mutation again. 'Wow.' Chris couldn't even put into words what had just happened. He looked into Eli's eyes and the hint of a smile came onto his face. 'How can I argue with that?'
