Riley Conners may have looked like shit, but he felt like it too. Already the blissful numbness of the drugs was already fading away, and in its place came the pain once more. Cracked ribs, dislocated knee, and all manner of soft tissue damage screamed for his focus. Yet Dig concentrated on one thing at a time; pushing away the grip of physical agony, and turning his attention to prioritizing what needed to be done. Even when the young woman remarked about his current shape the cop just offered a slight shrug of his shoulders. Not saying a word he instead took the offered pack and after helping himself to one of the smokeless nicotine cigarettes Digger pulled out his phone device.
A quick text was sent, credits were wired, and once he knew arrangements were made for Camelot to take care of the child the cop finally seemed to relax a little more. Oh there was no denying that he was practically dead on his feet, yet there were so many miles to go before he could sleep. "I'll rest when things are wrapped up for the night." That gaze of his drifted away from Twitch and came to focus on the duffel bag once more as the current occupant of said bag let out another pathetic muffled moan. If his knee had been in better shape the cop would've quieted his captured prey with a swift boot to the bag. Instead Conners had to settle for grabbing the bag and dumping it roughly into the truck on the cruiser before slamming the lid closed. It was only after tossing his battered armor into the back seat, and gently moving the child to lay down in the back seat as well, that the cop finally managed to climb into the driver side and sit it down.
Just the act of sitting had Riley wincing a little, but instead of dwelling on the pain he pushed through it for a moment longer to set the autopilot on. When the car roared to life anew, and began to drive them all towards Camelot, Digger fished out the medkit from its mounted spot, and settled in for the ride. Doing his best to get patched up while mentally making a list of things he'd need to do before the night could finally end. "We are making a quick stop to drop of the kid, then we will get you back to the cafe. I don't have to bother warning you to keep your mouth shut about what happened tonight right?"
