Who: Bruce and Dinah When: 1/7/16 Where: Wayne Manor What: As the due date draws near, the expectant parents try to relax. Try.
They counted the weeks religiously on every calendar they had, and as the time drew nearer, and then nearer, fears Bruce thought he'd conquered came raging to life once more. Accompanying them were fears he'd neglected to consider previously, occupying his thoughts anytime he had one to spare, and so it was that at week 38, Bruce was finding himself wishing for some global catastrophe to pull him away. Just for a few days, so that he could fill his mind with strategy and fighting technique, rather than the impending birth of his son.
He was meditating, and that helped enough for him to recognize that he wasn't the only one in distress. In the face of Alfred's implacable, indeed joyful composure, Bruce and Dinah were as nervous as cats... on the proverbial hot tin roof. If Bruce couldn't make things better for his wife, he was at least determined to ease her situation. It took the whole day to prepare, both in meditation and in actual planning, but after dinner (one he was sure he was there for), Bruce retreated to their bedroom to prepare.
By the time he called Dinah upstairs, the large bathroom was bedecked in thick candles - blue, in concession to the fact that white didn't seem appropriate for either of them, and black just seemed too funereal, and therefore unnerving, given the circumstances. Soft music played from the speakers hidden behind the walls, calming without being cloying. The marble floor was already heated, and towels sat on the warmer in preparation. A plush, chenille bathrobe, perfect against the frigid January weather, hung beside his on a hook, both black and monogrammed, even though hers was fairly recently purchased to accommodate her growing belly.
The black marble tub sank into the floor, the rim seamlessly flush, and large enough to contain four people. None of the multiple jet setting were active at the moment, but the water was lightly scented with roses, and the gentle pillow of bubbles bore a pink hue from the gel.
"I thought you could use some help relaxing," he suggested as she took it all in.
