Planning always depended on the task you were going up against. The greater the task, the more planning needed. And when you were going up against one with the brain power of Victor Von Doom, each move was made very carefully.
And yet ... he done it. He'd done what so many hadn't been able to do and live to tell about: outsmarted Doctor Doom.
The mechanics of the Doombots was truly remarkable. If Doom hadn't been his captor and such a source of consternation, Lex might have had genuine admiration for the man. Even offered him a true business partnership with LexCorp. Doom's understanding of magic and how it could be shifted into something mechanical was beyond Lex's understanding. It irked Luthor, although he'd never admit it aloud.
And yet he'd made a mistep. The Doombots, of course, were not perfect, and those that made mistakes were quickly tracked down and taken to either be repaired or destroyed. Lex hadn't seen where they had been taken exactly, but he'd assumed that these were the two options. And so he'd watched their movements, all so precise, all so perfect, molded so by Doom.
Which made the discovery of an imprisoned Doombot so much more interesting. This one was convinced itself was Victor Von Doom and that the real Doom was an impostor. How truly fascinating Lex had found this. And had also found his opportunity in one of Victor Von Doom's failures. A deal had been struck and the Doombot had been convinced to help him in a mutual escape of the castle.
It was a pity, he thought as the distance between himself and the castle grew farther and farther, that he wouldn't be able to see the look upon Doom's face when he realized he'd lost two prisoners...
