Who: Kyle Rayner. OPEN to Jennie-Lynn Hayden, and/or Todd Rice.
Where: New York City. His shared apartment.
When: April 19th, 2012
What: After some texts with Jen, Kyle is inspired to do some pottery work.
Rating: Safe for work, I imagine.
After her little commentary the day before, Kyle had decided to show Jen what else he could do and work with as it related to art. For him, there were a lot of options. A lot of different materials and subjects he could have considered, but in the end he decided to keep it relatively simple by electing to do a clay pot for which he had most of the materials at hand. Except for the clay, which he had had to go out and purchase. While he could not predict her schedule, especially given the craziness leading up to her show and the end of her class, he imagined that he would have more than enough time to start and finish his little project before she came home. At which point he could show her his pot, maybe even wave it in her face a bit, and further brag before she either hit him or he otherwise relented.
Huddled over his potters wheel that he wondered if Jen had ever discovered buried under all of his other junk, he sat working the clay expertly, giving it shape with his hands in a similar manner to how he would his constructs with his power ring. Both required his imagination, his will power, and his discipline. This task just happened to require getting his hands into the actual material too, which was something he actually enjoyed when the mood struck him as it did now. Casually he shaped a mold, decided it was perfect, and started again, enjoying the sound of the wheel spinning, which he had chosen over putting on one of his Nine Inch Nails albums.
"Just a cartoonist my ass", he said to himself with a half smile as he began to shape the clay up again. "Not my most ambitious project, but I'll show her none the less."
That they had already discussed what else he could do, and that she had even spoke of putting up one of his pieces did not factor into his resolve or his present work.
