Billy had avoided meditation or anything having to do with magic since his run-in with Loki. Even the thought of it brought up memories of those claws punching through his shields and digging into his flesh. Still, it had been a couple of weeks, and like other functions of a teenaged male's body, the young witch found that if he went too long without grounding and focusing himself, it became harder to concentrate on even the most mundane of things.
With that, and with Teddy out for the day, Billy sat cross-legged in the living area of their dorm room, eyes closed and pulsing with the faintest of blue light as he hovered in the air. The incense smoke swirled around his body, and he breathed deeply, letting the floral and heady aroma fill his nostrils. The exhale pulled him further out of the mundane and more into himself. His lips quivered, mumbling to himself as he walked his inner soul toward the bright spot that was his center. As he approached, it began to hum, which was unusual, as it had never done that before. The humming grew louder in his ears, a squealing sort of pitch that forced Billy's eyes open.
The small bag of runes that Loki had given him to train with slammed into his chest, knocking him from his meditative state and onto the ground unceremoniously. The bag quivered and pulsed, and for a moment, Billy hesitated in picking it up. With a deep swallow, he finally did and loosened the knot. The stones inside the bag leapt out as if they were alive, crashing through the window and streaking off to the west in golden trails. Billy was barely able to snatch the last of them before it joined its brothers in their flight. The stone burned inside his fist, and squirmed with no small amount of strength. He had no idea where they were going, but part of him wanted to find out.
Stone firmly in his left hand, Billy quickly scribbled out a note.
Teddy,
Something came up. I don't know how long I will be gone. Please do not worry about me, I'll be alright. I'll call as soon as I can.
Yours, Billy
He left the note on the fridge where he was sure that Teddy would find it. Knowing that his costume was at the headquarters, he murmured and summoned some pants and a proper shirt from the closet, magically dressing himself as the stone writhed in his hand. Afterwards, he kept his grip, but lifted into the air, teleporting outside the broken window and then letting the stone guide him toward the unknown west.
