The last couple of weeks had been difficult. The attack by Loki had left the young mage with haunting nightmares and a real sense of dread at the thought of being by himself outside. He was thankful for the care that he had received from Wanda, but ultimately, he wanted to be alone. He felt worthless and powerless, and no matter how silly a notion he tried to convince himself it was, he couldn't shake it. He knew objectively that Loki was just vastly more powerful than he was. He knew that many other heroes, no matter how competent, would have suffered the same or worse fate at the trickster's hands. But knowing didn't make him feel better. It also didn't quell the memories of the event nor did it prevent them from invading his dreams. He had tried his best to pretend to be happy for Teddy, but he wasn't sure it was taking. He hadn't talked about it though, not since leaving Stark's mansion.
The course of action for the present was distraction, and today's current distraction was Once Upon a Time. Billy sat curled up with a blanket on the couch, popcorn and soda within arm's reach as he marathoned the silly but entertaining show. There were times, fleeting as they were, that he even found himself enjoying it and not dwelling on the past.
