Who: Team Rogues [Captain Cold, Weather Wizard, Golden Glider, Heat Wave, Captain Boomerang]
Where: The Mojoverse
When: Monday, September 10th
What: Riddle and Trivia Hangman
Rating: R for lots of swearing and possible violence?
A drum roll sounded.
A crowd had gathered; men women and children from all over the galaxy, but strangely, dressed in 18th century Georgian finery, craned their necks to see the five contestants as they were marched up the thirteen steps to the scaffold. All of them were bound at the wrists and the cord that connected them looped around the neck of the first in line - Len's - then trailed back to circle the throat of each of them in succession, culminating with Digger in the rear.
The fluffy, yet muscular aliens who were guarding them, led them to the end of the scaffold so that each of them was positioned over a trap door. Perched on the rail above, gargoyle-like creatures extended their tails down and coiled them around the constants necks, knotting them into thirteen loops above to form a perfect noose. Only then was the cord connecting them to one another removed, although their hands went unbound.
An alien stepped onto the platform before them - reed thin, with arms and legs that were equally long and lanky. His head was a perfect circle and completely devoid of features, giving no indication as to where the oddly cheerful voice that emerged was coming from.
"Gooooood morning, sentient life forms! Welcome to '18th Century Hangman... Trivia Edition!' Where we see if our contestants will think on their feet - or have them swept out from under them.
"Our first team today hails from the planet Earth, and call themselves 'Rogues'." There's a trill of studio audience laughter. "Maybe the nooses hit a little too close to home for these guys. Here are the rules for our contestants, and you kids playing along at home: We'll give you five trivia questions, and/or riddles to solve; you'll have one minute to come to an agreement on the answer. Every wrong answer earns one player a bag over his head. He or she can still help the team, but it's a point against them.
"You need three questions right to win - or should I say... survive! Three bags and those doors below you open. Then you'll be dancing the hempen' jig." The audience roared with approval of this result. "Is everybody ready? Let's begin!"
Lights flared dramatically, and the music rose and fell. Spotlights focused on each of the Rogues as their gangly host pulled one of the cards from the five spaces on the scaffold in front of where they stood.
"First riddle: A man is in a room which contains only a table and a mirror. The room was built around him; there are no doors, and no windows. How does he escape? You have one minute."
