Rating: PG(13?)
The Y. E. S. Stars Recreation Centre run by Oliver Queen was abuzz with activity. As one might expect, weekends were could often be busy, but today was especially busy, because of a special occasion. In addition to their "regulars", the Centre and its staff/volunteers (chiefly the Arrow kids, and other local mature high school and college students) were playing host to many of the other kids in the neighborhood. Their friends and family, too.
That was the response they got when Oliver Queen and Luke Cage teamed up to bring Betty White, a bona-fide celebrity and America's favorite kickass comedic grandma, in for the day. Olle had also gotten in touch with the Humane Society, and had them bring in a few furry friends. Betty's biggest passion, outside of acting, was animal rights. It seemed like the perfect combination of their charitable cause and hers. Lots of kids loved animals, and they had enough space that they could keep the dogs and cats in different rooms and keep them away from people who were allergic or who didn't feel like playing with animals.
"Betty," Ollie said, giving her a kiss on the cheek as he greeted her before everyone else arrived and it became a mob scene. "I'm so glad you could make it."
"Well, I owe you a favour," said the comedienne, with a deceptively sweet girl-next-door-turned-grandma air that belied her sharp, very funny wit, "for making me the most expensive girl of the night. I haven't felt that young in years,"
"I can have that effect on women," Ollie said, glibly. He winked at her.
"I'll bet you can," she giggled.
"And anyway, Betty, you're more American than Cap,"
"Aw, aren't you sweet," she said. "So, who's that cute one over thereā¦ I like his ass in those jeans."
That made Oliver snort. and then laugh. "That's my son," he said, smirking.
