Oliver saw a large SUV with an X on the side pull up in front of the rec center, and went out to greet it. He knew, from all the texting and pre-planning that had gone on, that it was group arriving from the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. The group was being chaperoned by Dinah's younger cousin, Bobby Drake, who honestly sounded more stressed out about than he needed to be, in Ollie's opinion.
Of course, Ollie was notoriously laid-back, and unconcerned about such things. He was the type of person for whom things would just work themselves out, and there was no need to worry, unless it was really important. This? Wasn't important. This was meant to be fun and enjoyable and all for a good cause. Nothing bad was going to happen, because they'd taken all the necessary precautions beforehand. Nothing bad was going to happen because today was a good day.
Good days happened. Even to superheroes to whom karma could be a bitch.
"Hi," the older Green Arrow said, introducing himself to the group. "Welcome. C'mon in. If any of you are allergic to cats or dogs, there are certain rooms you should avoid. The Humane Society is here. There's food in the kitchen area, and games. Out on the court, there's basketball. I think powers are allowed, but it depends who's playing," he said, then paused before continuing.
"The guy all the other kids call Tiger Woods is my son, Connor, and the blonde girl about your age with the big mouth who walks around like she owns the place is Mia. If you need help, you can ask them, or me. I'm Ollie," he said. His own name was something of an afterthought. The intention after he was done speaking was clear, though, to the kids. Go have fun.
After that was done, he turned to the chaperones, chiefly the young man Dinah had told him was her cousin, Bobby Drake. He'd come out just in time to hear him tell the kids to be careful, and try not to break anything. For Ollie, that wasn't even a concern.
