"Good morning, Metropolis? What's news?"
Her usual greeting was met with the usual round of moans and a scattering of, 'Hi, Lois's' but Lois Lane-Kent ignored most of them as she strode purposefully through the bullpen to her desk. A few people caught her attention and she waved, throwing them a friendly, if slightly distracted smile - she almost always looked like she had somewhere important to go, as if the world weren't moving fast enough - and called a hello to them by name. The majority of them were even the right ones. As much as she knew the important of remembering people's names in her business, Lois had little patience, especially for stupidity. If she did remember someone's name, it was for a reason - you had either made an impression, good or bad, or she needed something from you.
Her whole demeanor changed though, as the broad-sholders of a man hunched over his desk came into view after turning the final corner that would bring her to her own desk. Her pace slackened and her face softened and brightened in a grin as she ran a hand over the too-large tweed jacket covering her husband's back, bending to kiss his cheek. "Morning again, Smallville," she greeted before moving on to her own desk, six feet away and facing his.
Their work spaces were a study in contrasts. His was neat and orderly, while hers looked like a tornado named Lois had hit it and no one had bothered to clear the debris, knowing the storm would return again. Sure enough, Lois dumped her purse in the nearest corner and quickly stripped off her heels, tossing them in an open drawer and toeing it shut with a stockinged foot as she dove into the chaos beneath her desk in search of her more comfortable running shoes. "How's the article coming?" she called out in a muffled voice.
