“You should have come with me.”
Selina called through the suite as she pushed the door closed with a foot. Her hands were overflowing with bags, most of which were full of fruit, wine and assorted other things she'd found on the local market. She'd been hungry and Bruce had said he had some quick work related calls to make. An hour later she'd returned with more than she'd intended – but she was on vacation after all. That and Selina figured she could use the retail therapy. Moving through the hallway quickly she walked past the door to her own bedroom, turning a corner into the lounge area. The suite was bigger than her apartment, two rooms, two huge bathrooms, a veranda and it's own private swimming pool. Bruce certainly had gone all out, but she didn't really expect any less from him.
Things were strangely quiet though. She couldn't hear him talking on the phone, which she'd expected on coming back. Selina glanced behind her, her eyes scanning the room for any signs that Bruce had decided to take a walk. But his suit jacket was still slumped over one of the comfortable looking leather chairs.
He'd placed it there when they'd arrived.
“Bruce?”
She called again, moving around the lounge and setting the bags on a large dining table. Grabbing a glass from one of the settings she carefully poured herself a glass of wine, before turning to open the veranda doors, the cool ocean breeze sweeping in and blowing her hair out. The wine tasted good – better than good, and she didn't know whether it was simply because it was Italian or if it was just that she was in a good mood.
For once Selina was filled with hope and she smiled to herself, taking a long sip. Even if he had disappeared for a while she could certainly enjoy the view on her own. It was breathtaking, the perfectly clear blue sea lapping against the rugged coastline, the small fishing boats clinging to it. She hadn't had time to appreciate it all on her last visit – she'd been too busy running for her life at the time. The Falcones...it seemed like a lifetime ago.
This visit Selina was determined to have a good time, and she was almost certain that she would. Bruce had been nothing but charming so far, and she couldn't see that changing. Part of her wondered how far this would go. Selina didn't think of herself as sentimental, but this place was romantic. There was no other way to describe it. The fire her blood had been ignited as soon as they'd touched down and she was still trying to keep it under control. The questions she'd had the previous night were lost to the feeling of the place. For now at least, though they continued to bubble underneath her calm and controlled surface. Worries that she hoped would be addressed sooner rather than later
