WHO: Makaria & Hades
WHEN: 15th of Feb
WHERE: Their home.
WHAT: Valentine's Day fallout
It was very sudden, Makaria thought. One moment she'd been curled up in bed against the warm body of the woman she loved more than anything and the next moment it was as though she'd suddenly been jolted away and the woman, Famine, was a stranger to her. No... it wasn't like that... she wasn't any more of a stranger than she'd been before, but all those feelings of love and adoration and need to be with her had evaporated.
She'd pulled herself from the bed, frightened by all of this, and backed up against a wall. The both of them were dressed still, Makaria having been too nervous to do more than kiss Famine. They'd known last night that anything else could wait. They had forever and they were in love.
But they weren't - all of it had been a lie and in the light of morning she didn't know what to make of it. Famine had made her a coffee and they'd talked for a little while and by the time Makaria arrived home she felt slightly more at ease. She still wanted one of her parents though.
Just inside the door she called out, "is anyone awake?" hopefully quite enough that if they were it wouldn't wake them.
Hades had been up all night. Valentines was usually ignored, too pink and too bright, but it made Persephone smile if he gave her a rose. So he did. Only his was made of rubies and wouldn't wilt. He'd spend his day with her, taking in her every movement and knowing that soon she'd be out of his reach again.
But he'd let her go because the alternative had proven to be worse.
And then Makaria hadn't come home and he'd spend his hours pacing, imagining all of the worst things. He'd been a breath away from sending his Furies to go seek her out when he felt her enter the house. Quickly he moved to the hallway and frowned at her. Still dressed the same as when she'd left, and he tampered down on his fears.
Instead he just went to her and hugged her, "I was worried." Goddess or not, she was his and even thinking of her hurt made him ill. He set his hands on her shoulders and watched her. "You did not return home. I was just about the send the Furies out. Are you alright?"

"I think so," Makaria said cautiously as she wrapped her arms around her father. He felt strong and good and familiar. "There was some sort of... love magic cast on me."

Eros then. Hades would string that boy up by his feathers for this. He wasn't as tempered and fair when it came to his daughters. Gently he pushed her back so he could properly look at her. "Who and did they hurt you?" He wanted to ask if they'd done anything but he was trying hard to remind himself it wasn't his business. His daughter was grown and in charge of her own life.
But his instinct was still to find whoever had touched her and rip them to shreds.

Makaria shook her head up at him. "No one hurt me, papa, don't be mad. Her name was Famine and she's of the Christians. She was nice to me."

He sighed, mostly because he had no choice but to accept her words. That and it was a Christian. His neighbors were troublesome, and even worse, powerful. He couldn't punch this thing without severe repercussions. "Eros toyed with you. I'm allowed to be angry with him. But I am pleased you're alright." Smiling he set his hand on her cheek, "do you need anything?"

Makaria didn't care much for the love gods - she knew of them only through her father's comments - but as long as Hades wasn't angry at her then all was well. She smiled up at him and when he asked if there was anything she needed Makaria frowned a little. "No... but... papa, I think I understand now. Why you risked everything to keep Persephone here."

He watched her for a moment, giving her a sad smile, and set his hands on her shoulders. "Sill not one of my brightest moments. Goes up there with deciding to outright kidnap her." He acknowledged his mistakes, but couldn't regret them. He was too much an Olympian for that. He sighed and released her, "what would you say if I took you and your sister out of the city come March?" He really didn't want to be here when he send Persephone back and it was that or drinking and Makaria had asked him to slow down with that.

She couldn't tell her father that the kidnapping had been clever, but Makaria was thankful for it. It had given her a Persephone. So she said nothing, just gave him a small warm smile.
"I'd like that," Makaria nodded. "Where would we go? I haven't seen anywhere yet and this country is so wide."
