Who: Elpis and Lyra What: The cheeriest people alive meet When: March 1st Where: Thanatos' place Warnings: Very cheery people, possible ludicrous amounts of fluff
Elpis liked her routine. Have class, take pictures, meet with Elie, visit her counterpart and having a grand old time. Her mother, adopted at least, had gone missing but she was Hope. Pandora would be fine and would turn up sooner rather then later. Today she was hungry and close to her brother's house. Hope and Death rarely had the need to meet, but this time was different. That and he was her brother. She'd never let anything stop her before.
So with half a hum she walked into his apartment. She'd learned to pick locks from her less law abiding siblings and if Thanatos didn't want her in here, he would keep her out with more then a simple lock. She dropped her bag and set her camera down before looking around. "Hello, Death! Are you home?" No response but her brother slept like his dead. Pun intended.
"Oh gloomy Death?" She shrugged and walked to the fridge. "Well I'm raiding your fridge big brother, even if you aren't here. With a grin she pulled open to fridge to see if there was anything good in it.

[info]gardhouse 2012-03-01 11:40 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Lyra had no classes today but Thanatos had work. He'd been sweet enough to not even wake her when he left and it was mid-morning before she even stirred. Even then she didn't plan to move much, deciding that she'd do the shower thing later and stay until Thanatos returned at least.
So she got up to make herself tea and toast and then returned to bed with her book.
She was nearing the end of her dramatic novel when someone entered and started calling for death. Which pretty much had to mean another god, Lyra presumed. She pulled herself out of the bed quickly and decided that singlet and underpants was not acceptable. She found her lime green skirt and wiggled it on before creeping down the hall and peering into the kitchen.
"Hello?" she asked the back of the woman cautiously.

[info]done_by_hope 2012-03-01 11:52 am UTC (link) Track This Elpis jumped up at the voice, half a piece of cold salami in her mouth that she swallowed. "Oh shit I'm sorry." She studied the mortal for a moment before she grinned, "nice skirt. Lyra right?" Because it was a subject her brother never tired of and she hadn't assumed any other mortals were welcome in her brother's house so openly.
And she could almost see her brother's wings around this woman, a not so subtle sing this woman was his. Thanatos needed more subtlety, really.
"Sorry, I'm Elpis." She waved. "His little sister, of which he has many. I was around and hungry so I figured I'd break in. He'd keep me out if he didn't want me here though. And I hadn't seen him in a bit." She didn't pause much, too bright and happy.
She hopped on the counter, "so I'm completely curious about you. He's never had anyone before and besides the endless rants about how lovely you are and how lucky he is I've been wanting to meet you."

[info]gardhouse 2012-03-01 12:23 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "Yes, uh, me is Lyra," she said awkwardly and then made an embarrassed face. "Hi." Then when she realised that this was Elpis she smiled a little more easily. One of the less scary siblings. "You're Hope," she smiled. "I've heard some things about you from him, he said we should meet."
Lyra could feel her cheeks getting hot and wrinkled up her nose with a little grin. "He talks about me a lot?" she asked, feeling silly and lovey and quite happily about that even through the embarrassment. "I don't know if I'm as lovely as he's made out because I think he's a bit biased, but I like the bias because... well, I'm sort of biased when it comes to him as well."

[info]done_by_hope 2012-03-01 12:30 pm UTC (link) Track This She nodded, "yup. Elpis is fine though, although I could go by Hope now. Mortals and weird names let me tell you." She rolled his eyes, "he's terrible at actually getting things set up. You'd think he'd be better at it seeing what he does, but nope."
She nodded, "only all of the time. You have to understand you're the only thing he's ever let himself have. And he's very talkative about some things." She giggled, "you two are adorable. If you get him to propose you are the best mortal ever by the way. I'm aching for a good wedding." She hopped down and went to the juice she knew her brother hoarded. She fished it out and took out two glasses, pushing one towards Lyra. "So now we've met, clearly, any questions? Ihave plenty for you."

[info]gardhouse 2012-03-01 01:10 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I've noticed he's not good at arranging things," Lyra admitted. "I've always thought that it's because him being death there's not really anything he has to worry about getting in the way of things. He's not exactly going to run out of time to do things in his life."
Lyra grinned again at the mentions of how Thanatos talked about her and she had to admit that she did love it. Lyra made wide eyes at the idea of proposal though. "Oh, we've only been together for a few months so maybe not quite marriage yet!" She laughed though, clearly entertained even as much as that idea was a big one. She reached out and picked up her juice glass, taking a sip. "Actually, I do," Lyra said, sitting down to settle into whatever their conversation would turn into. "You're Hope so maybe you can explain this. So... Pandora let out all the evils in the world and that's why bad things happened, but she caught hope - you inside so mankind still had hope but... if you're in the box and the evils are outside... shouldn't we not have any hope? And shouldn't you be in a box right now?"

[info]done_by_hope 2012-03-01 01:24 pm UTC (link) Track This She shook his head, "it's because he forgets that's why. He doesn't think very far ahead, or too far ahead and doesn't bother with details. You should poke him about that. Death can change a bit."
She laughed, "adorable! Tell him that though." She faltered for a moment, "I mean it, and I don't mean to make you sad by saying this but we forget sometimes. He hasn't done this before. Hem ay skip a bit too forward, trying to fit it all in." She shrugged and sipped from her glass before raising her eyebrows. "Heavy."
She frowned and put her glass down, "truthfully? I don't know. Like a million philosophers dissected all that and debated for ages about it all. You gotta remember according to some schools of thought I'm the worst evil of them all. Hope is cruel and blah blah blah." She rolled her eyes, "but mortals feel hope. I am needed. I do what I have to do. I give hope." She shook her head, "so it's complicated. Am I in the box so I won't get lost, or am I out of the box because I'm needed? Or cruel in some cases. So I don't know. What I know that part of me is in the box. When there's too much hope and I'm not physical I go there to center myself. I'm safe in the box." She smiled, "so I'm in and out of the box. Like Schrodinger's cat only less of a zombie. That make sense?"

[info]gardhouse 2012-03-01 10:30 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I've spent my whole life counting on the unchangeability of death," Lyra smiled brightly, "so trying to change Thanatos might take me some time!"
Lyra chewed on her lip. "Wow, I've never had a let's-not-get-married talk a few months into a relationship. But... if you think that I should. You know him better than I do."
Towards the end of Elpis explanation Lyra had already started nodding and smiling. "Strangely, yes, it sort of does? You all exist because of believe - that's how Thanatos tells it to me in any case - so it makes sense that even if the stories are about you, you'd become all things people think you might be. It seems like it would get all confused in your head. But... I suppose it wouldn't..." she trailed off, feeling stupid. "Since... that's how it's always been."

[info]done_by_hope 2012-03-01 11:44 pm UTC (link) Track This She grinned, "if anyone can it's you. You have him wrapped around your fingers. Which is good. He smiles more now. He's never had much reason to do that."
She hopped off the counter and shrugged, "I am Greek. So is he. We act on impulse a lot. And you should yeah. He loves you, but he knows, better then anything or anyone, that you're mortal. He'll get to the part where he's convinced neither of you have enough time. And I don't know if ou can understand that. Time is flexible for us. I mean I have slept through decades, literally, and we blink and there's new mortals and new gods. Remind him to go on your pace. Not his."
She grinned again, "that makes perfect sense and no you're right. It does get confusing. There's a million and one different explanations and reasonings and it all effects us." She smirked then, "and I could die for this but you remember the Hercules cartoon? Hades spend months with blue hair. It was a riot. We're used to the change, that we will change, but not the effects. Most of us don't try and keep it all straight. We just live as best we can."

[info]gardhouse 2012-03-03 10:54 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "Feels a little funny to have a god wrapped around my finger," Lyra admitted shyly, "but I like that he's happier now. I like that I can make him happy. He really deserves that."
"Yeah, he doesn't really like it when I talk about dying," Lyra frowned. "Which I tend to do lots because it's the way life has to go and I've had a lot more experience with nearly dying than a lot of people my age- I even met his sisters when I was little, his other sisters, the Keres." She shrugged then. "Some people think death is all morbid and creepy, but I like that he doesn't see it like that. In that way he's perfect for me."
"Must be complicated, not to really know what's going to happen?" Lyra chewed on her lip thoughtfully. "But I guess people don't really know what's going to happen to them either, but we usually only get blue hair if we pay for it. What's he like?... Hades?" she pitched the last word lower, because she was a good Greek girl and knew that wasn't name to be saying too loudly when he actually existed. "I know he's not evil, but is he scary?"

[info]done_by_hope 2012-03-03 11:47 am UTC (link) Track This She nodded, "you won't hear me denying that. But he's my brother so I am biased." She shrugged, "And it's not like you'd take advantage. You don't seem the type."
"You can't blame him. He loves you. He doesn't want that to go away." She winced to the mention of the Keres, "ouch. My sympathies. I love my sisters, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather never meet them outside of social gatherings." She chuckled, "well you couldn't have found a more perfect being for that. He can brood though."
"You have it there. None of us know our destiny, except maybe the Fates." She smiled to the lower voice, "he can't hear you anymore. It's fine." She sighed, "it's complicated. In a way he can be. I mean this is the guy who decides if you go to the Elysian Fields or something a bit worse. He's intimidating and he knows how to play on that. But he's a very fair guy. Loves his kids and would burn the world for the Iron Queen if she asked pretty enough. Nothing like Zeus or Poseidon." She shrugged, "ask brother dear to introduce you. Hades has a lot of experience with people, he really tries not to creep them out unless they've come into his realm or something."
