WHO Fairytales, Maid Marian, Lancelot, Much and Tuck WHEN midday Saturday WHERE the Parsonage WHAT homecoming WARNINGS floofy!
Elaine looked back at her little cottage one last time, and let out a little sigh.
The last day had been a flurry of baking, cleaning, and packing. Elaine hadn't wanted to leave a single cup out of place before she left (one in particular, which she noted had stayed in its place, and she gave Lancelot a little smile when she did). Rabbit and vegetable pie, a basket of fresh eggs, an assortment of fruit tarts and a basket of jellies and jams in varying golden hues were all packed to be given as welcome gifts to their host. Elaine wasn't 100% sure where they would step out into the city, being merely drawn on a strong feeling of belonging that would lead them there.
The three of them were dressed in modern clothes again, Lancelot and Marian's clothes freshly laundered and Elaine in a whimsical lace dress that still suited her aesthetic.
"Goodbye little cottage!" She waved to her safe home, then turned to the open gate and held out her hands to her two friends. Her little cat mewed at her from the fence and jumped onto her shoulder, wrapping her tail tightly around her neck. "Are you coming too, sweetpea? Alright then. Is everyone ready?" she asked, feeling a thrill of excitement. "Here we go!" And they stepped through together and back into the real world.
