WHO Will Scarlet, Friar Tuck WHEN Monday late afternoon WHERE Little John's place WHAT unraveling WARNINGS probably a bit of angst
He was awake, and damn he needed a piss.
Disoriented, Will sat up too quickly, throwing his legs over the side of the bed and trying to stand up before he properly knew where he was. He discovered his right arm seemed to be restrained and he tugged at it as his brain whirled out of control, sending the room revolving around him. Flailing, his free hand hit the edge of a tray and sent it and its contents crashing noisily to the floor as he followed them down. Was he still drunk? His head was spinning so badly his stomach heaved, and he fell to the side when he tried to pick himself up again, because one of his hands still wouldn’t go where he wanted it to. He whined as all the pain came rushing back and he emptied the meager contents of his stomach onto the floor, each retch making his body cry out.
Strong hands lifted him up and put him back on the bed, helped prop him up and clean him and empty his bladder into a bucket because he was clearly not making it to the bathroom. He let Little John put him back to bed propped up on the pillows, allowed a sip of water, and then fell asleep again as, with a deep sigh, John began to pick up the mess off the floor.
The next time Will awoke, things were slightly clearer. He knew where he was straight away this time, but the swooping in his head hadn’t stopped. He closed his eye and swallowed hard against the nausea with a groan.
There was a small sound to the side, a shuffle as if someone was laying aside a book, and Will peeled his one eye open again to squint at the figure seated by his bed.
“Oh no,” he muttered, his words a little indistinct. “Please don’t.” Of course it was Friar Tuck, wearing the most concerned, aching look on his face in a way that made Will’s guts twist with guilt. Didn't he tell Robin not to tell the others yet? Preferably not ever? It was so quiet, perhaps they weren’t all here. Just Tuck, sent to watch over him like a ministering angel.
