Daylight was still difficult for Adina to get used to. The sun burned for hours and it was blinding. Her dark little eyes wasn't used to it. She'd been buried down in the bowels of Hell for so long, that when the storm cloud overhead covered the bright sun she grinned with that dangerous little smile. She twirled in her ash colored dress with black boots she'd picked out of a storefront window the day before. She may have only been out of Hell for a week or two (it may have even been months), but she'd been used to Chazaqiel's girlish gifts. She looked like a little girl with her hair pulled back in a pony tail twirling in the summer rain. Each time she spun around the ground felt uneasy beneath those hurrying to get under shelter. Instead of going to hide under the trees from the water, she climbed up on one of the slides in the kid's playground. In some ways she was a child and a monster. This was all new again. While she wasn't a tall a frightening giant of old, there was plenty she was capable of unleashing on the world. She went up and down the slide at least twice before it creaked under her weight, twisting the plastic as if it had been put under a hot flame. By then the rain had started to clear up and she bounced off the playground and right into a bike rider.
She did not offer to help him up, but stared down with the tilt of her head. Was he bleeding? Her nostrils flared as she looked for the source of the blood, her tongue venturing out of her mouth to lick her lips in wild anticipation. There! There it was! His knees were scraped from the fall. In a swoosh she crouched down to his level, her hand reaching out to his busted knee and curling her finger in the congealed mess of blood and stringy skin. She pulled at a small flap and pulled it right off his knee, putting it in her mouth to chew like taffy. She smiled sweetly and those brown eyes lit up. He was tasty!
