"I'm sorry," Jesse said softly, squeezing her hand. "We didn't think-our focus just got narrowed down to caring for him and looking after Bastian. My poor brothers had to pick up the slack in looking after the house, everything basically went to shit." He sighed, feeling terrible. Of course they should have called Nicholas' mother. It should have been one of the first things they did. They'd just been consumed with worry, to the point where it stamped out everything else.
