WHO: Demeter & Papa Ghede
WHEN: Thursday afternoon
WHERE: Some office block in NYC
WHAT: Two immortals walk into a lift.
WARNINGS: Probably some bad language but that's about it
Demeter had an armful of paperwork that needed to be signed and she wasn't pleased about it. How hard was it to import soft Greek cheeses? Very hard, was apparently the answer, and it was all due to the recent change in Food Legislation Stature 225-B. Demeter's supplier had explained it all very clearly in his office and now she had to go back to the restaurant and change tonight's menu until while she tried not the think of the cases of Kasseri and Xynotyro sitting locked up in a dock somewhere.
When the lift opened on her floor Demeter immediately felt the rush of another immortal hit her. There were five people in the lift but she couldn't be sure at such close quarters which of them was a god. So she stepped inside and watched them all as subtly as possible in the dull reflection on the closed doors.
One floor down a young woman stepped off, but the feeling remained.
Three more floors and two others departed, leaving just Demeter and the one she knew now was a god. The doors closed and Demeter turned a smile over her shoulder to the man beside her. "Quite the confined space if we decide to fight to the death," she told him, clearly cheerful enough to put any idea of that from her side out of his mind.
And that was when the lift stopped, midway between floors.
