Alex reached out a hand, like he was afraid Hephaestion might up and vanish, or his hand would go through him like smoke. He took a few steps forward, and his hand touched a solid, living person, and he thought his knees might actually buckle. (They didn't, but only just.)
"Hephaestion," he whispered. "How-I had almost given up hope I'd ever see you again."
