"We'll keep it if you want it later," Iain replied. "Let's not have you getting sick again."
Iain had gotten lucky with his foster placement, and he knew that. The couple he'd been sent to were mostly good people, even if they seemed to never notice that their charge was slipping away to visit his siblings. And if his foster father had cuffed him upside the head a few times...well, Iain kept that to himself. It was a drop in the pond and he'd survived.
"I'll bet," he said softly, drawing Lachlan into a one-armed hug. "Hopefully he'll come home soon."
