Who: Helen, Menelaus, NPC Arianna
What: Trick or treating
When: Halloween, late afternoon, early evening
Where: Area neighborhoods, then Menelaus' place
After much consideration, Helen had decided to dress up as that Alice girl from Resident Evil. She hadn't actually played the games or watched the movies, but she knew that zombies were rather popular right now. Helen had done an extensive search on zombie hunters and had liked this one the best. She was a strong, brave woman who kicked zombie ass. What was not to like? Helen liked to think of herself as strong, or she had used to be anyway. Even if it wasn't true now, she could pretend for one night. It was fun dressing up as someone else, pretending to be something she knew she could never actually be.
Helen didn't take very long getting ready, since she was trying to look grungy and prepared to kick zombie ass. She arrived at Menelaus' and rang the doorbell. She hadn't even gone rick or treating, considering she had never had a reason to. She hadn't had more children in her new life because she hadn't wanted to give anyone the burden of being Helen of Troy's child. There was also a time when she felt children were a burden. Her mindset had changed considerably over the past few years, even though she still believed she shouldn't ever have more children. For now she could dote on Arianna, even if she wasn't Helen's daughter.
Arianna came running to the door in her little cat girl outfit. Menelaus was still trying to get into his costume, so the girl happily opened the door and battle posed against Helen. "Dad's not ready yet!" She announced and waved his friend in. "Do you have any candy?" She asked, wiggling her ears on her head. She was a bundle of energy, and considering her father had not had a lady friend ever, she wondered if Helen was going to be her new mom.
Helen smiled happily at Arianna, "Oh, I love your costume." She followed Arianna inside and shook her head, "I don't yet, sorry. But that's what we're about to do, and I'll let you have all my candy, okay?" If Helen had any idea the thoughts going through Arianna's head she would have been quick to stop those ASAP. Helen may be single now, but she was not ready to date anyone.
Arianna studied Helen for a bit. She folded her arms over her chest and looked back to be sure Menalaus was not behind her. "What are your intentions with my Dad?" He said they were old friends but she didn't remember her. While she might be akin to the idea of a new mom, she'd never known much of a mom to have any real opinion. Her childlike brain was trying to make sense of things, because at this point she had no maternal figure in her life at all.
Helen was taken aback by that question. She hadn't expected it. Then again, she had been spending a lot of time with them lately. So maybe she should have expected it. "Oh..." she thought. "Well, Arianna, I really don't know. Your daddy and I used to be very close. Right now, we're just friends. I intend to remain friends with him, if that's alright with you?"
