Helen frowned at Briseis recollection of her past. She hated hearing about it. Partly because it reminded her of her own, but also because she believed no one deserved that sort of treatment. She hated the power the gods held over them. She hated that being a child of Zeus meant nothing and that he clearly didn't love his daughter. Helen believed he could have ordered the love goddess to reverse the spell, but he had chosen to stay out of that war. He could have prevented ten years of suffering and death, but he chose not to. "I'm sorry that happened to you. You deserve so much better. I hate the gods and their power over us. I denounced them long ago and I have no intentions of going back," she said quietly, anger in her voice. She shook her head, "sometimes I think the only way to end it is if the love goddess chooses to let me go. But honestly I'm willing to try just about anything if it means being free again."
Helen looked at Briseis, feeling that fierceness in her gaze. She offered a little smile and nodded. "Thank you." It felt good knowing that she had someone behind her. Someone really, truly who had her back now. It was nice knowing people realized just what a powerful hold the spell had over her and how powerless she was against it.
