Anthony had come and gone, with the promise he would do his best. Nikkie and Joey had arrived, but Joey had had a panic attack and Nikkie had to take him home. Jayden was refusing to leave his room, and JJ couldn't blame him. He had Adrian and Isaiah to look after him, and JJ didn't feel guilt in letting herself collapse in the living room, the blanket around her shoulders and Jesse by her side. She didn't want to be in the bedroom they all shared.
Not with Nicholas missing.
JJ sniffed and stared down at her hands as she spoke, "it was like he wrote it so we would know he was in trouble," he whispered. "Like he knew we would understand that isn't how he talks." The sentiment aside, none of it was phrased quite like Nicholas would phrase anything.
