To his compliment Peitho smiled and said, "Of course I am," because if there was anyone in the world who didn't doubt her allure, it was Peitho.
The girl with Hermes looked distraught and Peitho could build up a picture of who she might be and of what she might have thought was going on. And, because she was feeling generous (and she couldn't be bothered with a scene happening right now) she turned her smile on her instead. "He's terrible," she said to her, her voice plumped with her powers. "He didn't even tell you his was married, did he?" The girl shook her head quickly and Peitho clicked her tongue. "You deserve so much more than him. What a waste of your time he's been and look at him: you could do way better." She touched the hair falling across the girl's face. "I say get out of here and never even give him another thought. I'll send your things along. He's a lying bastard." Then her smile turned a little more into a smirk and she whispered, "you should really hit him for mistreating you."
And, because Peitho had said it, Sydney did just that. She slapped Hermes and swore at him and then slammed the apartment door behind her as she left.
