Isaiah started to tremble behind Jesse. Even in death, they couldn't escape their father, and that was the thing that terrified him the most.
Jesse clamped one hand onto Jayden's shoulder, moving him further behind him and out of the shade's line of sight.
"No, by all means, let me see him," Richard said. "Let me look at how far he's fallen, seeing as how he's here in this den of iniquity. No doubt doing absolutely nothing with himself."
"You shut the fuck up," Jesse growled. "You have no right to even look at him, let alone any of us, after how you've treated us."
"I should have thrown you out long before I did," Richard spat. "Might have saved the little ones from your taint."
